- Mark is a great place to start reading the Bible. It’s short enough that you can read it in one sitting, and the gospel talks about how Jesus relates to real, everyday people. But it turns out that maybe Mark isn't actually the author. AUTHENTIC host Shawn Boonstra walks you through the evidence in part 3 of a series called "The Four Witnesses".
This is a very high quality production. The content and presenter is second to none.
Thank you. This is very helpful as our Sabbath School lesson is on Mark.
This is so cerebral I wish you had a bigger platform Shawn sooo many people know so little. Thank you for giving great context to what we thought we knew!
Thanks Shawn and the decibels of Christ as well.
Great show, really enjoyed it. Thank you
Great episode thank you
A couple of observations: Peter calls Mark "My son" in his letter written (probably with the help of Mark) in 64AD from Rome (Babylon the Great). This tells us that Mark was about 15 to 20 years younger than Peter in 64 AD. If Peter was about 60 years old in 64AD Mark could have been 45 and makes him about 15 years old when Jesus was crucified. Then the Gospel seems to be written by a young person giving us the hint that Mark wrote his gospels in his 20s in the early 40sAD. Paul also tells the Churches Mark has some "instructions" for them. This might have included his short account of the life of Jesus. And we can remember that Paul called for Mark to be with him in Rome. It might be a clue that after the execution of Paul, Mark stayed with Peter in Rome until Peter himself was martyred a year later. .
Maybe not God in the flesh but certainly the divine son of God in the flesh, slight nuance but an important one. John 17:3 says it all! Saving knowledge given to us by he whom received all things from his Father. Some interesting historical points Shawn good to hear your voice again.
Check out Amos 2:16.
