In 98 I remember I was discovering so much music from hip hop to metal and it was mostly this station 88.9 in Boston used to play underground rap and extreme music so it led me to explore a lot of underground gore and death and grindcore bands and underground rappers. Definitely a good era and great time with music that too hard for the mainstream radio

Was looking forward to the Sakis Tolis one too; Thy Mighty Contract-particularly, if only-Coronation of the Serpent is the best song, of all "blackthrash"; I regret Non Serviam I found borning-but Sakis' band Thou Art Lord is incredible (no overstatement): two albums: Eosforos, and Orgia Daemonicum - Superalbums. Orgia is like BM mixed with Morbid Angel. Eosoforos is Greek black metal.
I don't make recommendations because no one cares but I'm serious here. TAL is a "superband" composed of members of other bands e.g. Rotting Christ, Impaled Nazarene, Necromantia. I'm sure you all know it already-Justin has never mentioned Thou Art Lord in my memory.
The Regal Pulse of Lucifer is also a good Thou Art Lord album.

The "Live Corruption" VHS was the first Napalm Death I heard. Bought it back in the day cause I thought it looked cool and figured they'd be awesome.

idk, maybe the scene down here in Australia is just more "true" in lack of better words, but I don't really see that happening. I will say that yes, every show I go to there's at least a few people where I'm thinking "why the hell are you here" but that can hardly be called an "invasion" when the rest of the room is filled with true heads.
P.S.: I'd say "plebs" are pretty much interchangeable with CANOES. Basic, surface-level "metal fans" that go no more underground than Mayhem.
