As someone who majored in Robotics in college, I constantly heard people talk about the 3 Laws of Robotics. Not official but came from the book (what the movie is based on) and kinda became a standard in real life
First watched I, Robot when I was young and it creeped me out so bad. This is the first time I've rewatched some of it in a very long time and I have to say, it's very sobering with the advancement in technology around us, but also, the cinematography was plain incredible for the time. Genuinely this movie is a masterpiece, and unfortunately, will stay relevant for a long time to come.
Bruh I’ll be 34 in 11 years by the time futuristic stuff happens in the future like futuristic cars, houses, electronics, even stores, imagine paying for stuff with a future bracelet with all your private money and stuff in there so no one can know but you and only you can have access to it
Apparently they justify Spooner eating so much pie because his cybernetic arm takes quite a bit of calories to power so he's gotta eat more to keep it working.
I don't think they stopped traffic specifically FOR Spooner; but rather as an easy way to herd the humans. ALL the cars are electronic and linked to one system so the Robots just shut them off and sent out an army to initiate their version of Martial Law.
YEESH, absolutely loved this movie when it first came out, the tunnel attack scene on the big screen is forever engraved in my mind. And the cautionary tale is eerily more relevant today than it was 20 years ago. 😭😭
Exactly. Why I don't have a roomba a ring camera ,Nor do I have Alexa telling you, I with my phone can read all of those things from my house to your house. Anybody can turn your head in that way. We're doomed, we are doomed.
13:58 during this interrogation scene when Sonny winks at Spooner ( that's not shown in this reaction). Wish you kept that part in the reaction because it has to do with something later on.
15:19 That moment you spoke about that specific topic (coming from someone who currently is in still) you spoke more truth than saying 1+1=2! That is straight on hard facts!
Ever since i was a little children I’ve always loved this movie! “I did not murder him!” He was already past development. He was in the meaning of life phase breaking free of PROGRAMMING
If you're interested in more robot/AI movies, I recommend A.I Artificial Intelligence 🙂 it has Haley Joel Osment as the main character and honestly really underrated.
I love this movie and the books. The books are from the 1950s, and while the movie changes the setting and some other things, the vibes are spot on! Scary to see how close we are getting to some of these “science fiction” marvels!
Fun fact, the music from this movie is used in a Dutch tv program called “Wie Is De Mol” (Who Is The Mole). There’s a RUclips channel that has English subtitles for if you want to watch!
Hey Billy, if you like movies to get straight into the action, I have a movie for you it’s called ‘interceptor’. It was screen, wrote by Matthew Reilly. An Australian author, who quite often hits the ground running with action, always right from the get go and with interceptor, it gets right into it. Within about 10 minutes you’ll be in the middle of the action, and it doesn’t stop until the credits Interceptor is his first movie that he wrote the script for.
This movie is from the book I, Robot by Issac Asimov. The book was published in 1950 and Asimov created the 3 laws for the robots in books that he has written. The fact that this man thought of robots and how they can turn on humans back in the 50s is crazy to me.
Was so excited for this reaction and still overall loved it except my two favorite parts you completely missed 🤣 when he was fighting the robot after the car accident and he blocked the robot’s hit with his arm, showing it was a robotic arm and the part where Sunny winked, you didn’t immediately realize the wink was his signal of being on their side, which is perfectly ok. Just bc your reaction wasn’t like mine when I first watched this movie in theaters when I was 8 years old doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with it lol thank you!
There are short stories from the 1940s in a 1950s collection by legendary Sci-Fi author Issac Asimov entited "I, Robot" (not a novel). Several stories of the collection were first adapted for television in the 1960s. A movie was in the works since the late 1970s. When it started to get made and before Big Will got the role, the lead was Arnold Schwarzenegger at one point and then Denzel Washington turned down the time. 2 of the stories, Little Lost Robot/Caves of Steel and Asimov's infamous "Three Laws of Robotics" are utilzed in the screenplay. Director Alex Proyas (The Crow) and producer John Davis (the Predator franchise) were the most adamant to make the film with the advancements in filmmaking availible to actually make it happen. The suspense does border on the Crime Noir flavor. Action, drama and the humor is standard blockbuster stuff. Out just about 20 years ago (no joke). This was 1 of 2 films for Big Will in '04 (followed by Shark Tale), his play on paranoia with the robots and playing the hard boiled detective is a good performance. Alan Tudyk as Sonny is a great performance and one of his most iconic roles in the genre. The rest of the supporting cast is good too (Shia LeBeouf not cursing correcly, hilarious). Summertime movies with Will are usually released in July (just because) and this one was moved from June because Spider-Man 2 would own pre-4th of July weekend. Originally, Smith did record a song for the movie and then he decided to not put it out. I, Robot was Oscar-nominated for Best Visual Effects. Also check out Proyas' other classic, Dark City (1998).
@@BillyBinges If you like Will Smith action movies then i Higley recommend watching Bright, if you haven't seen it already......and after you watch I am Legend tho👀
Billy boy, you have expressed what every sane person with common sense would say, me included. Some time ago, I told someone else about the conversation that Spooner and Calvin had about the machines. It’s true, the reason of why they can’t commit certain actions like we do is because they’re nothing like us. However, it’s that very fact is why we easily let our guard down around them because we don’t see the potential danger they may possess if we let them develop any further. What VIKI planned to do is logical but then again, it is not their place to decide what’s best for us since it’s not their world, it’s ours. Only we can make the choices that will define the fate of many others if we can actually learn from our mistakes and become better. Whatever the future holds, as long as we don’t rely on automatons, fine by me.
I absolutely love this movie, they used to play the heck out of it on fox like every freaking weekend and everytime it was on I was watching it, one on my fav will smith movies
Yesssss. When I seen this I clicked immediately. I have never seen anyone react to this movie. I actually rarely see anyone react to Will Smith and Martin Lawrence movies and they do he lit
I have to disagree about the cars, though. Spooner's Audi is DA SHIT!! That thing is NICE. And instead of typical donut shaped tires it has full spheres for wheels That makes strafing a complete possibility. Helps with driving accuracy too. Parallel Parking is easy now, since you can just strafe sideways into a spot. The driving acrobatics that are possible with wheels that are actually full spheres???? Dope AF.
That parking system USR had is already SOMEWHAT in use in some areas of Japan. They aren't put in at an angle, but they are stacked in multiple levels on a giant lazy susan type thing. I don't know if any of them use a sliding rack system, though. I think an attendant drives your car in and out of the space. Edit: Also, the laws have nothing to do with who owns a robot. The first law states that a robot MUST do anything possible to save a human human from harm, even if it is destroyed in the process. The second law states a robot must obey any command given to it by a human, unless that command will bring harm to another human. The third law states a robot must try to protect itself, unless it has been given a command to do otherwise, or if protecting itself will bring harm to a human. That's why the NS-4 at the start didn't stop, because following the direct order to stop would bring harm to another human, the woman that needed her inhaler. When Spooner and Dr. Calvin were arguing in her house, if she had told the NS-5 things were not alright, I assume he would attempt to intervene, attempting to block Spooner from getting closer to Dr Calvin while also trying to escort Spooner off the premise.
