  • Metal Rescue® Rust Remover GEL is a cleaner, safer and easier rust remover for iron and steel. Unlike other gel-based rust removers, Metal Rescue GEL is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and contains no harmful or corrosive acids, alkalis or solvents. Metal Rescue GEL is your on-the-spot rust remover! Its highly-adhesive formula allows for simple and controlled application-GEL clings to metal. GEL must remain moist to remove rust; do not allow to dry. For success, use Metal Rescue’s signature plastic wrap method: “Keep GEL from Dryin’-Wrap After Applyin.’” Just another way Armor Protective Packaging takes the work, out of your workday!

    I have a small rust spot forming on the edge of a Fender of my car where the paint had peeled off. I'm going to give this a try I hope it works and doesn't affects the rest of the paint, as the video said it was safe on painted surfaces. If it works that will save me a bunch of time of not having to do sanding.
    Goal is to use this, remove the rust, then use some primer and paint touchup, fingers crossed.

      Hi Gotallofthem1, our GEL is safe on paint. Just make sure you wrap the GEL with some plastic wrap to keep it from drying out. Thanks for watching, please let us know if you have any questions. You can pick up a jar at your local AutoZone in the paint isle.

    I have a Plymouth Duster that's got nasty rust on a large portion of the car's body. I might not be able to wrap it. Would the gel work on something like this?

    • @armorprotectivepkg
      @armorprotectivepkg  4 года назад +2

      Hi Scott, yes it would! Although that amount of rust would require a fair amount of Metal Rescue GEL. I would suggest purchasing a jar of it at your local AutoZone or order it here www.metalrescue.com/products/metal-rescue-gel/first and test it out on your car. Thanks for watching, please let us know if you have any questions.

    I bought two gallons of the liquid, non-gel Evapo Rust. Unless you can immerse the part in it, it's not worth a flip. Is there anything I can add to the thin liquid to make it gel and thereby useful?

      You should try our product Metal Rescue Rust Remover bath (liquid)!

    WARNING: I purchased this product in hopes of speeding up project of restoring my OBS 4wd Ford truck. I pressed new bearing races into the front hubs, but one had some surface rust on the inner gear splines. This is difficult to remove with tools, so I used this product as directed. I wrapped it in plastic and let it set for about 12 hrs. I unwrapped it yesterday to rinse it and noticed it left black tarnish stains on the new bearing races. It did not want to clean off, but it gets worse. Upon closer inspection it wasn't just stained, the new race was pitted. Some as large as the tip of a pen. I spent considerably time with 400, and 600 grit sandpaper followed with never dull polish to remove stains, but the pits have permanently compromised my new parts. I'm very disappointed.
    You've been warned.

    This may work for light rust, but based upon my sample of one, the product does not work even when covered with plastic and left for 24 hours, I would say look elsewhere for a rust removal product.
