Hi, if I am 73kg and looking to flat water pump and do and do some small wake, wake thieving and maybe a bit behind a boat (2-4th wave) would I be better on the 1310 or the 1150 if I have the 75m aluminum mast? I would prefer the longer distance pumping of the 1310, but worried the agility trade off my not be worth the volume at my weight?
hi Dominic. I am a big fan of your channel. I am getting Foildrive soon and can't wait to try it. I have been efoiling for 3 years now and it's time to upgrade to something lighter. My dream is your small 35L setup idea with the pod in front and half/efoiling through the swell - the idea you showed in your 360 camera video last month. Please make some tips about battery safety, did you have any leaks and of potential problems?
That's great to hear. FoilDrive is such a good product as you can choose how high to put it on your mast so you can ride it as a full efoil or you can use it as, an assist to get up on foil and then ride waves or swell without the drag from the motor. It's so much lighter than a proper efoil as well so it is super maneuverable and easy to pump. There are no issues with battery safety. The box is a o strong polycarbonate material that will not crash even if you stand on it or kick it. I have not heard of any of the boxes breaking or even of any leaks, except person who admitted that he didn't check the clips were done up properly, and when then the battery didn't do anything nasty and he got into shore without any problems. As long as you are careful and set it up according to the instructions there will be no problems.
Hi Dominic - I may have missed it in your video but how does the 1310 work with the Project Cedrus FD mast? I weigh 74 kg. Trying to decide the best wing for flat water pumping on my Cedrus FD.
Big guy winging here at 100kg. I have the 1310, 1300 and 1050 (HPS). I had so much fun on the 1310 finding my low limits and pumping through the lulls. However when the wind picked up suddenly to over 20 knots mid session, it became a bucking bronco. Went back in to change to the 1050 which just locks in at high speeds and choppier conditions. 1300 still gets up in surprisingly low wind but the wind needs to be steadier; fun going downwind but I had hard time pointing upwind in the chop. I think this is the perfect big guy range to maximize the number of winging sessions. It’s hard to decide, if I had to choose, if I would sacrifice the 1300 and 1310. I’ll have to ponder that next summer when the winds die down.
It's a real dilemma choosing between them isn't it, because they are all so good in their own niches! I'm not surprised the 1310 became unmanageable in over 20 knots. Well done for hanging on😂
Jake, I’m 100kg. Just started this fall. I’m getting up on foil and riding fairly comfortably between lulls and light wind. Not riding through direction transitions yet. I live in a mountain lake, gusty light wind location. Just bought the cwc 8m wing. Think that’s going to help a bunch. Would the 1310 be ok for a progression foil for me? I’m on a slingshot phantasm 928 now. 145 liter board. I have no idea how the two foils compare.
@@Moosecoaster CWC 8m is awesome. Phantasm 928 is a huge foil, more area than the 1310 but not as wide. The 1310 should perform better in a lake condition with more glide and speed with the same amount of lift. And you can pump it while up on foil through the lulls very easily. The big foils will start to feel like draggy dogs in winds higher than 15 knots. The 1300 will even be faster and almost as easy to get up on as the 1310. The 1300 does not go upwind as well as the others but flies downwind or on a reach. You may want to even start with the Axis 1050 HPS which will give you more speed, still has great glide, but more suitable for when the gusts are reaching 14 knots plus for a 100kg rider. The 1050 takes a few sessions to get used to as it drops off foil unless you're going fast enough, but once you develop the muscle memory, you just wait for a puff and once you're up, it has so much glide and won't come back down unless the wind dies. It sails upwind better than the big foils. The 1310 is going to cost some money because ideally you will want the ~$1400 HM Mast which is stiff enough to deal with the enormous wing span and your weight. If your lake doesn't get any waves, then skip the 1300. If it get 1 foot wind swells, consider the 1300. On flat water to waves less than 2-3 feet, you are fine on a 75cm mast as it will give you more shore clearance and be lighter and easier to control. One thing for sure is the Axis HA foils will be easier on your joints, elbows, hands, shoulders, back, etc. because there is so much less drag. So you can save money on physical therapy and have more time in the water with HA foils. The elusive on foil gybe is much easier on the 3 foils I've mentioned.
95kg, after getting into foiling prone surfing, I'm 15x times into winging in a light wind local. I'm on a 90l board- all my winging has been on an 1150. Would really love something not so draggy going forward that will still get me going when it's blowing 10-12. Was hoping/would love to abbreviate my equipment/be on all black fuse but seems I'm stuck wit a red fuse for all the really light wind options. Wish there was a 1300b/1310b :(
Sounds like the 1300 is the best foil for you. It's a really versatile foil as it has the speed to handle decent power and is much less draggy than the 1150
@@jeremyalmeda5307 as much as I'd like this as well I doubt this will be possible as the connection on the black fuse wouldn't be able to withstand the lateral force from a foil as big as the 1310
Hi Dominic thanks for your suggestion! you're toooopppp. I would like to put me into axis foil ....have you any idea about a fuselage fitting in f-one mast for axis foil?
Question; how is the 1310 with the foildrive as an efoil. I use the 1150 a lot, but heavier people (beginners) seam to find it difficult to get up. Thanks a lot!
Hi thanks for the review. I went for 1150 any advice for a 2nd wing for 18+ knots winging or small wave sup foiling? I was thinking at BSC 970 for my 82 kg as I do not looking for speed I prefer turn, easy and glide. Thanks
The BSC 970 or the PNG1010 would both be great choices. The 1010 is a smaller, higher performance version of the 1150 so if you like the performance characteristics of the 1150 then you will love the 1010. The 970 will be a bit easier to use but will feel very different in how it performs (more locked in carves, VERY stable, LOADS of lift) but it will crossover more with the 1150 in the conditions it can be used in. Unless you are specifically wanting the 970 i would say the 1010 is a better match. It's still very easy to use but it's performance is higher than the 970, and it will give you more range of use. The 970 is more SUP surf orientated but very much a beginner foil for winging, whereas the 1010 is great for surfing and super agile for winging as well. The 970 will be the safe choice for you, but if you want a foil that you will not grow out of then I recommend the 1010
Thank you for the review. It was something I really needed. 😍😘 I have following questions: 1. How much do you weigh? 2. What will be the optimal range of wind for PNG 1150 with your weight ? 3. From PNG 1150, should I go for HPS 1050 or PNG 1010?
1. I weigh 82kg 2. 8-12 knots 3. For winging the 1050 is better than the 1010 because the 1010 is too slow for winging. The 1010 is the better choice for surfing
@@dominichoskyns9091 Thank. you. That is exactly the wind range in my area. It rarely rarely & rarely goes above 14-15 knots.. (This time, I asked you more questions via Facebook.. 😎..)
You don’t lose any pump but it is a different cadence. The short fuse is a slower cadence than the ultrashort. Personally I prefer a faster cadence so I use the ultra and crazy short.
This is a question I've been asked a lot, and it has a really simple answer. The 1010 is literally a scaled down version of the 1150 (both in the PNG range), so they share a lot of the same performance characteristics, such as lots of lift at slow speed, a low stall speed and super easy to pump, however as the 1010 is smaller than the 1150 it's faster and MUCH more maneuverable. The 1050 is from the HPS range and therefore is faster and has better glide, but has a higher stall speed and less lift at low speed than the 1010 and therefore isn't as easy to pump on flat water. Although it's more maneuverable than the 1150, it's no way near as maneuverable as the 1010. The 1010 is a surf foil, the 1050 is for winging and downwinding.

Hi Dominique, thx all your great reviews. Can I ask some advice? I'm an experienced wingfoiler just getting into downwind supfoiling on our big lake in Holland (short period wind swell, can be big though). Which foil would you recommend; the 1150 or 1300 png? After watching all your reviews I think I should go for the 1300, but as I'm not blessed with extreme talent I'm afraid the paddle-up will be too difficult compared to the 1150 (and everybody says the paddle-up is the first and most important focus when starting with dw supfoiling). Thx, Coen
I don’t think the 1150 is that much easier to get on foil than the 1300. The 1310 is definitely easier. I would advise the 1300 because although it might be marginally easier to get on foil than the 1300, there isn’t that much difference, but when on foil the 1300 is soooo much better for downwinding than the 1150. The 1300 and 1150 have very similar lift, but the 1300 needs a bit more forwards speed, which is an important part of the paddle technique you need to paddle up on foil. Without developing the proper technique you’ll never progress to the faster HA DW foils
I haven't been doing much light wind winging for a while because I'd rather be using FoilDrive on a prone board to ollie up and practice downwinding and pumping between the small bumps as its such good practice for downwinding. The few times I have gone light wind winging recently the answer is yes, I definitely use FoilDrive, and it's always my preference to use the smallest battery due to it being lighter. Hi Dominic, love your videos. I bought the 1310 before watching this video as a beginner looking to wingfoil in light winds. I have the 19mm 90cm aluminum mast. You recommend the hm carbon for this foil, which I don’t have the cash for. I was wondering if a shorter mast like the 75cm Alu might compensate and make the ride more stable (I don’t need the height as much because no chop in light winds) or am I better off selling it and buying a 1300?
There's no doubt that the HM mast is the best because its so much stiffer, but having said that the 75cm 19mm ali mast will be a noticeably stiffer than the 90cm ali mast. I only used the 82 ali mast and that bad enough with the 1310, so the 90 must feel like a noodle. The 75 will feel much better. Whether to stick with the 1310 or change to the 1300 depends on your weight and how light the wind is on average. There's no doubt the 1310 is essential for anyone over 90kg in light wind, but of you're under 70kg you just don't need it.
Hi Dominic, really enjoy your videos. I’m a beginner who just purchased a 1310. What rear wing do you recommend to pair with it to make it the easiest to learn to gybe? I have the short fuse.

The best think is that the progressive stabs has a huge range of sizes so as you progress you can get a smaller size and still retain the same performance characteristics. What is your weight?
