    A full- time job sucks the whole energy out of most people. It is unhuman forcing people to work five days a week from 9am to 5 pm. The thing is even if you are free after 5pm, most people are so tired after 8 or 9 hours working, that they do nothing after work. Thats not what life should be!

    • @hannatruongs2pm
      @hannatruongs2pm  11 месяцев назад +4

      It does, doesn’t it?! I used to never have energy after finishing work, so ended up staying in and doing nothing a lot - which actually lead me to isolating myself from friends and family purely because I was always exhausted. I think taking a step back and looking at things from a different perspective helped me realise my priorities in life, for eg. spending quality time with family and friends, and most importantly making time for myself and my partner 🤍

    Money is important but in the end, our destination is the same regardless of how much wealth we have accumulated; death. Life is short. There are many things in our lives that deserve our attention much more than work. You did the right thing. Many people underestimate the importance of good mental health.

    Thank you for this. I just called out of work yesterday because I was so burned out and it felt so good not to be at work. Your last point is so true. It’s not worth burning yourself out for a place that would replace you in a week. We all need to remind ourselves of this.

      Hi 🤍 you are very welcome. I feel like as soon as you feel that sense of relief of not being at work - that’s how you know that job is no longer bringing any fulfilment or joy to your life. I feel like life becomes so busy that it becomes so easy for us to forget to prioritise our mental health. Sending all my love x

    hey! i’m also a pharmacist - i’m a fairly new grad and landed what i thought was a ‘dream job’, working full-time in a major hospital under my speciality of choice.. psychiatry. what i didn’t anticipate was being consumed with thoughts of quitting almost everyday - namely associated with doing my job out of a need to feel validated by my peers and out of a fear of not ‘fitting in’ within general societal standards. i feel like i’ve lost sight of myself and my passions outside of work due to my lack of energy most days. thank you for making this video - it’s inspiring seeing someone actually taking action when confronted with these hard thoughts (especially considering we work in the same field). i’m definitely considering quitting, or at least partially quitting, in the near future.

    • @hannatruongs2pm

      Hi!! I think when you get to a point when you’re consumed with thoughts of quitting almost everyday - that may be a sign to take a step back and re evaluate. I remember being in a vicious cycle and it consumed all aspects of my life outside of work too. This was a video I needed when I was stuck so I’m so glad it’s helped you. I think going part time (and now casual) was one of the best decisions I’ve made. It allows me to still work as a pharmacy (and pay bills) but also time to myself to figure out what I genuinely want to do and to find myself again. All the best my dear and I’m here if you need. You got this! X

      Hey same position here. I'm in a job that many pharmacists want to do...work in the GP surgery. But I struggle with doing tasks within specific time frames and it's difficult to keep up to date with all the new guidelines. I thought I could work in this fast-paced environment but I'm not sure if it's for me. If I could find a stable job which pays me the same whilst working part-time which I am currently, I think I'd be happier and mentally stable.

    I'm in the exact same position. It's so hard to keep everyone satisfied. I mean, it's not even about satisfaction, but our parents' anxieties really impact/color our own. Hope you find peace in your path!

      Hi 🤍 Yes, I 10000% agree with you. It’s difficult to make my own decisions when I know my parents worry about my future a lot. They are very traditional, so I understand where they’re coming from and I know that they mean well - but it definitely makes it hard to find my own path in life. Sending all my love x

    This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 6 months ago about self development. Now I have 392 subs and > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessonsÀ we that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.

    This was a refreshing video! We share a similar attitude towards work!
    I'm 30 and my twenties weren't spent having fun but instead grinding away and living for a wage just to cover what I needed. My last job was teaching which took its toll on my well being, I officially left Feb this year and waiting to tutor online instead.
    I know I'll be working less and earning less but to have peace of mind, and look after my physical and mental health, I think that's a much better way to live.
    I hope you've found something good or at least gained some clarity.

      Physical and mental health are so important. Definitely a better way to live, I agree! As long as we all live within our means, everything and anything is possible. I’m definitely at a better place now and I couldn’t be happier. All the best, beautiful 🤍

    Hearing you say that you feel like you *should* know what you want to do but you don't (or didn't at the time of this video lol) is reassuring. I'm 25, I've been writing since high school. Studied it in college, got a corporate job copywriting...and within a few months, I just hated everything about it. I even quit to try freelance writing. Don't get me wrong, I like writing still, but I'm honestly not sure if there is a career for me related to that skill. That's okay, but it's hard feeling lost and confused at this age when so many people seem to know what they want.

    Really enjoyed watching your video and all the things you had to say. I currently work 4 day's a week and sometimes think to myself should I apply for a full-time position for the extra money (which would come in handy tbh). But then deep down I know I'd end up getting stressed out with the workload and deadlines that come with my job. I value my mental health and the things that I can do with the extra day added on to the weekend. As you said if you live within your means then you'll be just fine. Too many people out there chasing materialistic things that they don't really need. Most of the time they do it 'to keep up with the Jonese' as the saying goes! You should work to LIVE a fulfilling and happy life and not the other way around where some people sadly live to work.. BIG FAT NO!!! Hope you find what you're looking for x

    • @hannatruongs2pm
      @hannatruongs2pm  Год назад +1

      Hi! I think knowing that you’ll be getting stressed out even before working full time is a sign that full time is not worth it for you. I feel like it’s actually quite hard to even recognise that in the first place because we always get so caught up with making the most money we possibly can, when we can.. Mental health is so incredibly important and I wish people talked about it more!! Having that extra day during the week to run errands, do chores, meet up with friends or just stay at home to relax makes such a big difference. I currently work casually and I honestly have felt no difference in terms of my financial situation, I just live well within my means and all my bills are still getting paid. The only difference is I’m so much happier and fulfilled. Thank you for watching and commenting, have an amazing day beautiful 🤍

    I am grateful to have come across your video! I resonate completely and this gave me that inspiration to give myself permission to prioritize my mental health and to work part time hours. Like yourself, I put so much pressure on myself to work and feel very burnt out. I agree with your feelings that there's this sadness and shame associated with investing so much years of your life into training and education to work a job that depletes your energy and isn't fulfilling but there's guilt to force yourself to work through it. I am a mental health counselor and I applaud you for quitting working full time. Your mental health and peace of mind are priceless ❤.

    This resonates with me greatly because I’m at a point where I’m working but I don’t enjoy what I do. I’m just doing it to make money to survive. I like having nice things on the side but some stuff goes to waste and it doesn’t get used. I get tired of having to put something on credit and then have to pay for it later. I get tired of having to build someone else’s dream and I don’t have time to invest in my own dreams.

    Hi. I feel the same too. I am a HealthCare professional and I have been so tired and burnt out of late. Working at a government hospital first half of the day and then at my own set up the later half. I just am not motivated to go to work most days. So have decided to take Saturday's off and reserve the weekends to catering to my hobbies only. I hope I can reach a space where i feel better.

      Hi! Working in healthcare is so rewarding but also so draining at the same time. It’s hard to provide care to patients when you’re burnt out yourself. Putting ourselves first is so important and I think we forget that sometimes. We can’t take care of our patients if we don’t take care of ourselves first. It makes me so happy to hear that you’ve been able to take Saturdays off, prioritise yourself on those days and do what fills your cup. I hope you feel better soon. Sending all my love! 🤍

    what a great video, i hope you take as much time as you can to work out your hobbies, what you actually like doing and what fills your cup. Working extremely long hours like you did leaves you no time for yourself and loved ones. I am on same journey, I am quitting my profession, all I've known studied and worked for, i have no other skill sets, so i am taking time to work out what else there is, maybe up skill and study something new. Yay for new chapters!
