Ruby Franke, a popular RUclips family vlogger with millions of followers, and her former therapist-turned business partner Jodi Hildebrandt, both arrested for multiple felony counts of aggravated child abuse against Ruby’s 12-year-old boy and his 10-year-old sister.
The women’s lives collided at least three years before their arrests, well after the mom found fame and fortune showcasing what many would call a strict and religious-focused approach to parenting on RUclips, titled 8 Passengers.

The children now have the world in their homes, in their bedrooms, knowledge of all things good and evil at the slide of a finger on a screen. Images and clips that ought never be in a child's mind, the cartoons they watch are full of sexual innuendos and subliminal messages.
And now children are being influenced by people who are mentally ill, emotionally damaged, traumatised individuals who are "out of their right minds" who have not dealt with their inner pain and suffering, who are; as you rightly said being fed by all the attention they receive, energy, and will go to extremes to gain more adoration to fill their inner empty dark void.
And its the children and young adults, who they target, and the adults around them who are also lost in their own trauma are oblivious to all the dangers, due to their own addiction to social media, so the technological Trojan horse has infiltrated the homes, peoples minds hearts and souls, and until we wake up from the slumber and hypnotic state we were put into over the centuries, and reconnect with ourselves and our children, these narcissistic wolves in sheep's clothing will continue their in-fluence the children and the youth of today, and we see how that turns out don't we.
Every occupation attracts narcissists in every area of life ..

Why exactly? I’m a member and have never been taught to do these things to my kids. Evil people can spring up in all parts of society, part of the reason is, as Christian’s, we’re taught to accepting of everyone. This lady has been taking advantage of people for years, a few misguided leaders that thought she was helping people, she wasn’t, does not mean the whole church is accountable for a nut that was preaching concepts, I have never seen in any manuals from the church.

The church does share some blame here. These woman, Lori Daybell, Tim Ballard and many others attending the crazy conferences all focus on the book Visions of Glory written by a person who still has the trust of the church and they use for missionary mental health advice. The church knows how to shut this crazy cult behavior down and has done nothing. These people believe this equates to tacit approval of these doomsday not jobs and their underground cult behavior. There is a deeper story here that connects all these crazies to an underground book members are reading. Thom Harrison needs to be exposed for what he is and the church needs to either stop it or be honest about embracing it.
The state of Utah and the Mormon Latter Days need accountability here, big time. This is absolutely dispicable. Sanctioned child abuse...

This case does not equate to the church level. That argument is a lot like an idiot doing something outrageous by a gun owner being used to judge all gun owners. This was an an extreme case that definitely needs to be fully prosecuted.
@jamesgentry13 Not all churches. I belong to an Open and Affirming UCC community that doesn't ask me to leave my brains at the door. We're also part of the Progressive churches, where questions are welcome. Please, don't lump all of them together.
Jessi can be so proud. Despite Jodi's violence, mistreatment, and horrific gaslighting, Jessi is well spoken, articulate, intelligent and personable, and deserves all the best in life.

So she can have some closure, and heal that part of her that needs it, she is a inspiration to others who have been affected by the actions of the narcissistic individuals roaming the earth.
The fact that Jesse’s police report was ignored is terrible. Their story could have saved years of torture for these poor kids and angst for other people affected by Jodi’s twisted ideas of “truth”. I’m glad they decided to speak out to corroborate the kids’ stories.

Let’s be clear. Jodi did not change Ruby. She did not influence her. Ruby was a child abuser before Jodi. Jodi’s philosophies aligned with Ruby and that is why she was connected to her. They aligned and supported each other in their evil.

That’s the one issue I had with what Jessi was saying. I get that she has anger towards her Aunt for what she did to her, but she was suggesting that Jodi was the mastermind in all of this and was kind of suggesting that Ruby was influenced by Jodi and her beliefs and that’s where I disagree! It’s as you said, they both came together and realized that they BOTH had similar viewpoints and a connection was made! Ruby was already doing some of these things, perhaps on a smaller level, but still harmful to her children, before she ever started following Jodi! So, to me, this is on both of them and actually, I would lean more towards blaming Ruby because they are HER own children….she gave birth to them!

He too participated in the tactics that Ruby used on their children before Jodi. While he may not be responsible for the horrific events he is responsible for either participating in or not protecting his children from Ruby when he was in the home. And….. who the heck walks away from their children and has zero clue what is happening to them. The father of my children would walk barefoot over glass to see his children. All so very sad, for the children.

Ruby does not get a pass because she was "misled" by Hildebrandt. The 1st time anyone ordered me to isolate my child, tie him up to weights and chains, with-hold food, sleep, clean clothes, family contact would have been the last. They should both rot in jail.
In one of the “8 Passengers” video clips, Ruby tells one of the girls that she will lose “the privilege of eating….” - …PRIVILEDGE OF EATING” a biological requirement to sustain LIFE is a “priviledge.” 🤦🏼♀️😡🤦🏼♀️😡🤦🏼♀️😡🤦🏼♀️😡

I hope that Kevin will be held accountable, too. Those kids had two parents and not one advocate. No protector. He could have been that for them and he should have been that for them.
Where was he ? What about visitation. He failed these children in his home and during the separation. He doesn't deserve custody of the children. How can they ever heal.
Kevin may not had engaged with the abuse at Jodie's home. But there is evidence that he approved of the mental and emotional abuse with Ruby in the videos made together. They were abusive before Jodie.
Their eldest daughter tried and the system FAILED them all.
I don't care if they were estranged, and I don't care about parental alimentation claims either. Parental alienation is a real thing, and it does cause many parents, mostly fathers, to become estranged from their children. But parents still fight for their kids. They go to court to try and see them. Kevin did nothing. For 13 whole months. That does not absolve him from guilt. The kids weren't being bound and tortured when he was in the home, but they were still being abused. And he was okay with it. I hope that he is not granted custody of any of those children.

Okay, if we didn't think Mormonism is a cult before... The Church of Latter Day Saints endorsed and recommended Jody as a marriage and mental health counselor for decades. The church bears some responsibility for all of those marriages and lives destroyed.

The Church "family services" is merely a group of licensed counselors who are members of the Church. They are not vetted by the Church or "endorsed" by the Church specifically. Sometimes, members of my faith prefer to have a counselor who is also a member of the Church because other Christian religions have very different interpretations of the scriptures that we do and often do not care to understand us (or worse, treat us with hatred or scorn, most especially if they happen to be Evangelicals or Southern Baptists). To be 100% honest, I've heard far more Evangelicals using "spare the rod, spoil the child" from the Bible to justify child abuse than I have heard any scripture unique to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints being used to justify child abuse. I can't actually think of one scripture unique to our faith that promotes child abuse in any way, and I can think of more than one that condemns it openly (most notably D&C 121:39-46). So, if there IS a cult at work here, it's the broader Christian community, especially Evangelical "fire and brimstone" ideology. That said, unfortunately, Evangelical ideas seems to be seeping more and more into Utah "Church" culture, probably through Republican connections, since such nonsense is prevalent in that group. In other areas where members of the Church are not so influenced by negative political ties, you see far less of the Evangelical ridiculousness and cult-like mentality.
All religion is a cult. Every single one. Look up the criteria’s of what makes a cult. And then look at religion. ….. there’s no coincidence in the fact that every cult leader has claimed that they have spoken to God, our God, or something along those lines. It’s not a coincidence.

my grandfather was an elder in the LDS. I was born into generational abuse. I was severely abused before I could even walk or talk. my grandfather used God as his excuse for the abuse which came in all forms. My grandfather had some very warped views on God women and children. my mother also abused me and later started to sell me. I was sold for the first time at 6 yrs old. I was 7 the first time I was used in CSAM(child abuse materials) I now work against child abuse and trafficking. children deserve better! these children are lucky to be alive.

I cried when the Emergency medical team arrived and said the open wounds on the boy's wrists and ankles caused by the rope and duct tape were smelling really bad, due to severe infection. It's absolutely heartbreaking how much these poor young children suffered, both physically and mentally. Please god help them to heal and thrive, and may they now always be surrounded with love and happiness.💕💕

I’m a diabetic type two, I have a wound on my right ankle it’s an open wound so far it’s been six months and it is very slowly healing… And that is with great medical care from nurses and doctors and a hospital that does wound care in my area. These children have a long way to go before these physical wounds heal. Their mental wounds may never heal. I asked myself where was God during all of this! But I say that every time there’s some sad story in the news.

Well as I’ve listened multiple times to the methods of torture being used on all of these children when the YT channel was at it’s peak until the moment that little boy escaped, are some of the exact same methods of torture that another abusive mother Shanda Vander Arke used that killed her 15 yr old autistic son. She was convicted of 1st degree child abuse and murder by starvation and more. Guaranteed she watched Franke’s demented YT channel.

As a counseling therapist this makes my skin crawl! Jesse is absolutely correct when she's saying that clients are vulnerable when they seek counseling and it's the therapists legal and ethical responsibility to not abuse that!
I'm in therapy for child sexual abuse from decades ago, as never reported it, but unfortunately it messed up my childhood and some of my adulthood, what these children have gone through I truly hope they are surrounded by people who genuinely care about them
It needs to be MANDATORY for anyone wanting to become a psychologist/therapist to undergo serious and in depth therapy themselves before interacting with patients

Its was so difficult listening to the testimony of the niece, and infuriating knowing that Jodi will never be punished for the abuse she inflicted upon her niece.
I don't trust therapists who believe in sin. This is so evil. This happened to my family. A counselor tore my family apart and moved in with my mom. He convinced everyone I was an addict even though I was 12 and never tried drugs. I was sent to an adult treatment center. He told you step-father I said he molested me, which was a total lie. Those relationships were never repaired. Sick!
This has nothing to do with sin or righteousness. It's about control and delusion. Teaching a child about sin has nothing to do with abuse. The abuse itself is a sin. Not to mention that their version of sin comes from a false church. It is a cult.

@@deniseadkins2901I’m an ex-Mormon, and I agree with you that it is a cult. Joseph Smith was a known con artist, in fact. My “church” experience was horrible. When I left, they stalked me, leaving “God bomb” sticky notes on my car wherever I went. There’s so much more, but I’m too tired to type it right now. 😞 Point is, they made it hard to leave. Eventually, I left town.
My brother went to a military psychiatrist, (who was not religious,) because he was bummed out about a genetic eye problem he had. The psychiatrist rapidly destroyed his marriage and then his life, and he wound up dead only 3 months after starting his "treatment". Long before that, I was listening to the radio and a couple of disc jockeys were joking around about a new study by some psychologists who claimed that having affairs was the best way to help a marriage. Those are only two examples, but the point is that while some therapists might hide behind religion, there's clearly tons of horrible advice in the mental health community. I remember a point where mental health experts were insisting that sugar has no effect on kids. The list goes on and on. They call themselves experts, but it's best to question everything they say.

I agree with you on the kids gaining therapist but It’s good that she speaks up publicly. She’s a victim and I wanna see more of people on the same situation like her to speak up and not scared by the truth. Abuser will continue to abuse if no one call them out. But yes the niece needs therapy

If you listen, she starts saying "not appropriate" under her breath. As if reminding herself to be professional at that very moment and not curse.
I know it's been said before, but the way that 911 caller questioned RF while on the phone was really nice under such pressure. He didnt want to use words that would trigger him or scare him before law enforcement and medical care arrived so he would be ready to cooperate and take help. The caller handled it sooooo well. So glad he and the rest of his household were around to give RF the help he needed.
I think I heard somewhere the caller was, himself, a former officer of the law in some capacity.
I pray for that man and his wife they are heroes but I know that had to have been hard on them.God bless them🙏🙏

No mention of Kevin Franke's role in this. He allowed the kids to be maltreated for years before Jodi drove them apart. He supported sending his son to that horrid camp, he was there when bedrooms and beds were taken away, he's on film backing Ruby up punishing the kids.
He should not be allowed near any of those children. Right now, he is seeing dollar signs and that is his only interest in gaining custody.

I was abused physically mentally and emotionally when i was a child by my step mother. My father was a severe alcoholic and let it happen and even participated at times. The school would even question me and my brother sometimes about bruises on us but bothing ever came of it. This was back in the mid 70's. We lived in a hoarder house and it was chaos most days. I really feel for these chilren. I never got any counceling or therapy as an adult and believe me the abuse i experienced as a child has had its effects on me as an adult. But when i became a mother i decided to be the one to break the cycle of abuse. I could never treat my child the way i was treated as a child. And hes 19 years old now and i am so proud of the adult hes growing up to be!

The man who called 911 sounded such a nice and kind-hearted man. I feel sorry that the kid felt it was his fault. It was not! I think the father should have checked on his kids more often, no matter what. No one looking at those wounds could have accepted this!

I adore their honesty and the courage they demonstrated in telling their story. I hope Jesse is healing as the children of Ruby begin their journey back to health. My mother destroyed my credibility too. Starting at a VERY young age- i was horribly abused my my violent mentally unstable mother and my alcoholic father, i was a very angry child. I remember being so frustrated because i wasn't allowed to have a voice, beatings on a regular basis for all of us- i developeda stutter and would urinate all over myself when my father raised his voice to me which always ended pretty badly and my sister who could not even speak until she was 10 the doctor had told my parents it was because of trauma my mother would leave us and take off for weekends without even telling us to fend for ourselves. I remember being so frustrated all the time which led to relationship problems friendship problems and unable to identify with a normal healthy family and relationship between parents and children this took me years and years to work through with tons of therapy I still don't know what it's like to be able to have a conversation with a father figure because it is so foreign to me I don't know how it works. People say they feel bad but the truth is I never had it so I don't know what I missed I do know what it was supposed to be but I never lost it -because I never had it.. and my mother becoming angry and constantly hitting me every time she was upset she would be hitting me even if it had nothing to do with me she would start hitting me always whacking me around didn't matter who saw it followed with swearing and vicious insults in front of other people which always left me embarrassed an insecure. It goes a lot deeper than this but I don't want to feel triggered talking about this right now I watch this and amazement because I know these kids are going to have problems for the rest of their life the inability to relate to others even in a conversation is a lifelong problem because you never know if you're doing it right or wrong and you know people think there's something strange going on when they walk away.
I hope these kids are able to heal someday but the chances are they probably will never recover 100%. If any of these kids are reading this You Are Not Alone there's millions of kids around the world that go through this violence and Pure Evil and we all understand what you've gone through and even though many of us still don't have a voice we are all praying for you in our heads in silence.

What makes me so mad, was this was so preventable. We made so many complaints to local authorities, not just DCFS but police. They KNEW. They never cared to look into these kids further and let Ruby isolate them at Jodi’s compound of torture.
I STILL worry about those kids given that DCFS was so negligent for years! Who’s checking up on DCFS to make sure they are doing THEIR job in protecting these kids now?
I just keep thinking of that family of like 10 kids who were isolated, taken out of school and horribly abused and neglected. I was a victim of childhood abuse and sought help from local law enforcement in 1976. I was not believed and was asked outright what I did for this to happen. It is very difficult to have a voice when the perpetrator has all the power.
I remember being in a very similar situation my face was black and blue and both black eyes and my aunt's husband asked what I did to get beat up ? It was my brother but my mother told him to after I got away and went to my grandmothers for a week when I returned I could tell my mother regretted it but it still was embarrassing when all I did was disagree .

The little girl was nine years old when she was rescued. Everything wasn't fine with her. Her brother may have said she was ten because her birthday was in a week.
When she was found, she was sitting in tge dark, in a closet, shaved head, head bent down and noticeably emaciated. Despondant.

My mother "parented" with shame, ridicule and abuse, but that was because of her mental illness from being abused as a child herself. After reading excerpts from Ruby's diary or journal there's no doubt that Ruby wasn't forced or brainwashed, Ruby was prepared to escalate the children's abuse. Including, as she stated in her journali " that she would drop her kids like a hot potatoe in the Arizona desert. Ruby used Jody to pretend that it was all Jody never her ideas, really because on your videos before you met Jody you often denied your children food. As I read your own words you must never be given parole, if you are ever given parole there will be no justice for these poor, abused children.
Jessi is so strong and I’m proud of her for coming forward to help shed some more light on the situation. It’s sad that Jodi was able to destroy so many lives. Ruby also needs to be held accountable.

I just watched the sentencing of Shanda Vander Ark who sadistically tortured and murdered her son Timothy. This case has similarities, so many warned the authorities what cruelty was happening. Those two women are sadists.

I'm so proud of and so sorry for Judy's neice. I went through something similar as a teen. Nobody believed me and the court social workers threatened to jail me. It was devastating. It's still devastating. I'm 76. This young woman could have stopped this all if anyone had listened to her. Heartbreaking.

I don’t believe Ruby’s grandstanding when she said “With my deepest regret and sorrow for my family and children”. I think the only thing she feels sorrow and regret about is that it was discovered what she was doing to her children. It could no longer be brushed off or justified by her weird logic. Although Ruby escalated from the (very) questionable treatment of her children shown in 8 passengers to undeniable abuse I think the evil intent and maliciousness towards her children has always been there. Jodi helped her and provided the tools and strategies to kick it over the line.
