Edgar Meyer is so precise omg, McBride plays these sick lines.. Two great masters
They were sure great to see together! They have mutual respect for one another... they made that clear!
boy, I've got to practice some more.
That's what I think every time I watch Edgar play
me too
man, how are you today ?
Man, who you tellin'
Happy to be 'like' number 1,000!
I saw these two Master Cats together and it was stunning. I'm glad there's these little videos of part of the show. What a find!
I love the way Meyer never looks at his left hand, just staring off into space.
even though he is the one with dots on his fingerboard
@@benfox7304 Hmmm, how come I never thought of that?
Staring awkwardly into Christian’s eyes 👀
A beauty!
Two gods of the upright bass. Wonderful.
Burning!
time for endless hours of practice
Two marvelous bassplayers meeting each other...very fine stuff for all bass-adicted musiclovers...like the old masters...but with more funky feeling 👍
This is just so cool ... legends
Both true masters of the bass, inspiring to watch. I also think it’s interesting how Edgar plucks with his fingers perpendicular to the strings while walking, it’s not something you see very often
that technique is more common with classical pizzicato and edgar is more classically inclined. its super cool to see the styles blend
Saw them play this piece at SFJazz yesterday. Jaw-dropping.
I liked this performance, what other pieces did u hear @ the live performance? interested in checking them out beforehand
I wish I could answer, but I wasn't really familiar with a lot of the pieces, so I don't remember the names, and I didn't get a program. There were a number of originals by both of them. They each also played a piece where the other provided accompaniment on the piano. Great show.
… holy cow … what a show… both played stunning improvisation
Mutual respect, brilliant collaboration...
This is Sick. What freaking talent !!!!
Two of the best!
My two favorite upright players!
This is awesome. I think it sounds best when Edgar is playing up high with the bow and Christian is playing the walking line. That way it has a little more contrast.
Parabéns, Gratuliere, Congratulations!!!!!!
Burnin'!
Bravo!
Sweet!
Turn this up to 2x speed, go to 3:30, and you will not be disappointed, I promise.
Slow Drip well it wasn’t supposed to sound actually better, just funny better.
Awh yeah bring on the Bass Noize!
Yeah! Tell me there's more video!
Thanks,
2~GENious~2!!

&, toDay,
¡¡ FELIZ 44 Cumpleaños,
Míster MASTER McBride!!!
Excelente !!
Muy buen dueto de contrabajos con un sobrio Edgar Mayer y un avasallante virtuosismo de C. Mc Bride.
Same
Scotty would be proud!

🍀😀
Foda !
I think I now have permanent bass face.
A “TWO-BASS HIT”

Is Edgar's Bass is tuned a whole tone down?
Thanks a lot @Ian , it was doing my head in, hahaha
This is just another Bass Player Pissing Contest, sometimes called Bassterbation or Jazzterbation. LOL
Wrong. It is two masterful players showing how, with careful application of ambition, idea, practice, application, listening, transcribing, practice, listening, more practice et al, the bass musician can attain incredible heights of mastery over this incredible instrument and enable the musician to achieve her/his goals...obviously an ambition lost on a someone with the deadbeat attitude you display with your ignorant and ill-informed comment, shame on you.
If only McBride would have some intonation... He sounds downright sloppy next to Meyer.
Hahaha. yeah sure !!
