Most amazing concert I've ever watched and listened to. I think I cried through most of it because it was just absolutely incredible and I'm watching all these legends. What an experience. My tears are from psychic tears. Truly amazing.
Mr. McBride, by the way you smile you make this music seem accessible to all. Jazz can be over the heads of some people, but the joy of playing jazz is something everyone can understand, as exemplified by your infectious smile.

After hearing the bass in the beginning my heart started pounding because i was playing the bass in a blues band....uplifting

I have honestly no clue how McBride has the precise moments to lay down the harmony as it is happening right in front of him....like the chord voicing is already half way gone and the man still is outlining the change and finding a way back into the bass line as if he meant to deliver that change to the keys instead of the other way around. Same with the guitar, like how does he know precisely to lay out and drop a reduced voicing underneath a melodic motif/vamp or pedal?? Just insane.....
Mark of an all round super Jazz basist..to me he is the one of the most "with depth" bass players to have ever held the fiddle to Jazz both for bebop and postbop. And I think his prowess with piano music and harmonic understanding does help.
A lifetime of jazz experience playing with the best in the world for decades.
