    My r/t journey has super low oil temp when I start it too. Is that normal? Just cerious bc I just got the car

    • @CarlsCarCorner
      @CarlsCarCorner  10 месяцев назад +1

      Congratulations on your new R/T journey! It's not uncommon for vehicles to show lower oil temperatures when first started, especially on cold starts. As the engine warms up, the oil temperature should rise to the optimal operating range. If it consistently stays too low even when the engine is warm, it might be worth checking with a mechanic, but a slight dip initially is generally nothing to worry about. Enjoy your new car!

      Oil temp? Yes, oil temperature will be whatever ambient temperature is outside, to a degree. If it's a warm 65 degree fall day, but it drops to 40 degrees at night time, then you go start your car up at 9:30am when it's 50 degrees, the oil temp probably wouldn't have caught up to ambient temp yet and would still be probably be around 45ish degrees.

      In short answer. Yes. Let it idle for 5-10 minutes (5 if its hot outside, 10 if its cold) if you want it to reach its operating temps that way your engine have a longer lifespan and it doesn’t give you any issues anytime soon. also have the A/C or any air in off so that your engine warms up first before you put it to work.

      It's awesome that you got a 2018 Journey Crossroad+ for your 16th birthday! The V6 engine can be a lot of fun, but if it's making a whining noise when you hit the gas frequently, it might be worth having it checked by a mechanic, just to make sure everything's running smoothly. Better to be safe than sorry!

      How was the 2018 Dodge Journey Crossroad? Do you advise me to go buy one?

    • @andresvaldez6879

      @@alidali7602it depends on what your budget is and how much maintenance you are willing to do and spend. Unfortunately the V6 engine in this car known as the “3.6L V6 Pentastar” has an issue with reliability, as it has a problem called… rocker arm failure. Rocker arms are located on top of the valves and roll on the camshaft lobes. When they have wear and tear they tend to eat into the camshaft lobes. It will make a ticking noise as a first warning sign when the engine is running. You can fix the issue by exchanging the old rocker arm(s) for new one(s), thats if you get to fix it in time before it starts to eat the camshaft lobes which if you do not then you to have to pay the extra for a new camshaft which all of this is not cheap, costing between $1,000 to $3,000 in parts and labor. For most people who don’t take care of vehicles, you will hear the issue starting around the 70,000 mileage mark or after 5 years of use. If you take care of it regularly doing an oil change and no high rpms then you might get lucky and not have to change it until 140,000 mileage mark or 10 years. I have the car but mine is a 2012 Dodge Journey SE with the 2.4L I4 engine which is a little bit more reliable but its too small for a 3,800 lb SUV with 3 row seats.

    • @CarlsCarCorner
      @CarlsCarCorner  11 месяцев назад

      It's great that you found the video helpful! 😊 As for the little whine you're hearing in your Journey, it's not uncommon for vehicles to produce various sounds that can be perfectly normal. However, to be sure about the specific sound you're hearing, it's a good idea to have it checked by a qualified mechanic or a dealership's service department. They can diagnose the source of the noise and determine whether it's a typical sound for your vehicle or if there's any maintenance needed. Your safety and the health of your vehicle are top priorities! 🚗🔧
