Once they do however, they're fine.

    The reason why the infotainment display and climate control display felt "laggy" was because they are LCD displays. (Liquid crystal display). When the temperature goes below a certain point, the liquid inside cannot move quick enough at demand, and thats why it feels sluggish and slow. Let them warm up, and it should work as they normally do.

      @@sezeryal It's common knowledge that you are NOT supposed to just idle your engine to warm it up. There's countless of videos even on RUclips stating this and the all the reasons why. Just look up "should you idle your car before driving" to see all of the videos - they all say the same thing. You should idle it only for a few secs, then start driving to get the oil circulating and warm up the engine faster, otherwise you're wearing the o-rings, pistons, and gaskets much faster as you're not running the engine at operating temp. 5:00 bad idea. The engine needs far longer to heat up in idle speed. Furthermore you're diluting the oil, because the runs on a rich fuel mix, which is mingling with the oil then.
    After cold start is done and the revs are dropping (usually 10-15 sek) you should start driving.

    Edit. To anyone wondering. Speaking as a Tech and someone who has owned 2 very high mileage cars dont idle it warm. Start it, scrape your windshield if needed, (otherwise skip) put your seat belt on, set your music and go. Once you have oil pressure you can drive just drive nice and easy until warm. Best way to warm up your car. Idleing causes trans Temps to be super cold and people run to hard on it because the engine is warm and they think they're good

    Why turn on the heater when the engine is cold? To make it take even longer to warm up? Why would you drive when the engine wasn't up to its operating temperature yet? It hasn't even reached 70 degrees. Starting a combustion engine in this cold weather is a huge STRESS for the engine! You're killing it painfully and slowly....

    • @jacobhauenstein
      @jacobhauenstein 2 года назад +11

      It is better to drive lightly right way than to idle the car in the cold, as everything will get up to temp faster and result in less time running cold. As long as you aren’t putting high load or revs, driving is better than idling. It would take 10 minutes to hit warm oil temp driving and 30-40 if you are sitting idling. Oil not coolant

      @@jacobhauenstein For me my old Audi A3 2005 takes about 15 mins to begin going over my minimum temperature of 50 celsius and about 20-25 to 90. But I usually drive after turning on my car and removing all the ice and snow from the car. Then it takes time. Constant driving it takes about 10 mins to go up to 90 celsius but when i turn on heating it goes down to 70 so I'd say usually 15 mins of driving its at its optimal temperature.

  • @RCRaceMan96
    @RCRaceMan96 2 года назад +19

    Please do not let the engine warm up while it is stationary.
    It's bad for the engine.
    The oil cannot distribute itself well in the engine because of the low temperature.
    It has to get up to operating temperature as quickly as possible. That can only be done with an immediate start. Little speed, lots of torque. Low-speed.

    • @badea_danut
      @badea_danut 2 года назад +4
