"You're not letting me talk again" that's really rich coming from Bri. Always escalating, always talking over people
forreal she interrupted him then started saying he was talking over her.
They should add talk timer. She’s constantly interrupting and pushing her narrative.
If Bri is going to be on a debate show, she needs to learn how to handle people disagreeing with her without throwing a temper tantrum.
She is a DEI hire. She doesn't have to learn or do anything

She's the one being calm and collected. The other guy was getting heated over the disagreement. He was offended and threw a tantrum. He seemed like a man child in this debate.

“I believe in modern monetary theory because I’m an adult.”
That comment from Bri proves she should no longer speak on economics.
I agree completely!!
Agreed, modern monetary theory is trash that only childish leftist believe in.
Technically, modern monetary theory isn’t a theory at all, it’s a description of how money operates at the federal level. MMT doesn’t apply at the state and local level though, so it’s not a panacea, but it’s still the only way to radically improve infrastructure, i.e., the public sector, without excessive taxation.

@@bradleywhite6815really? Wow I thought it was when the federal government started backing college loans in the mid 60’s. Since then, college tuition has gone up 100 fold.

Why not? Why wouldn’t that depend on where the college is located and what the college offers? If you want to get an education from a prestigious technical college, you should expect that it will cost you more than just attend the cheapest college you can find. And if you want to decide to attend an extremely expensive liberal arts college, and obtain a degree in a field that is not known own to have high pay scales, you can. And there’s nothing wrong with that. You’re investing in yourself. Just don’t make me pay for that! When I invested in myself to go the college, and earn an engineering degree - I did so knowing I was receiving an education that would enable me to pursue a career in engineering. Libertarians are addressing an growing governments role in society and that they prefer a more basic form.
Saying it is silly and a minimal government won't solve all the problems, is a bit mean. The problems are caused by the current huge system and their history.
A minimal system or a big government system, it all seems to flow to a domination by the strongest.
I would prefer to evolve to a society that has an extra step. Now exist 3 powers: lawmaking, governing, judiciary. maybe the media as 4th power. An extra evaluating power would be nice.

In single breath, how can anyone say taxes are not a source of revenue for government and promote more taxes for citizens? Make it make sense.
State & local taxes fund spending. Federal taxes are deleted from circulation. They don't fund spending. All funding bills passed by Congress are NEW money. That's why we have a national debt. There are other purposes for federal taxes: to decrease the money supply, and to prevent the 1% from becoming too rich & powerful.

Anyone who's an adult agrees with her! Lol
So the government is going to grow that 90 billion dollars on money trees so that the taxpayers are off the hook! Why else would they vote for it?
She would promote higher taxes on the wealthy because we may have too much money in the system and need to make room for other spending. not for revenue. We have a currency-issuing government, a fiat currency, look up what that means in the dictionary.

I don't love my opinion on the matter enough to publish for the world to read in as much as I am fairly neutral in political affairs and only genuinely avow following the law so long as it doesn't infringe on my understanding of Divine requirements.
That said, I edify myself by consuming genuine debates between two opposing schools of thought. The Hill for a while was a refreshment from the binary options out on mainstream. That is changing and it's evident in the manner in which these two individuals host these debates. Breanna is entitled to her opinion, but initiating character defamation when Robby is simply stating the counter argument seems to make the show more entertaining than informative.
In a cheeky way, as an observer, I can now simply characterize her response as simple emotional and not principled. The irony is that it is likely coming from a place of principle in her heart, whether I agree with her or not, but I'm left to assume since she can't win the logic argument, she's reduced to insults.
No accountability from the Dept of Education for certification for this Art School
They need more revenue to pay all their worthless staff so they make fewer mistakes!!! But don't worry, it won't come from taxes. The government can print money like a monopoly game because of the the failing petrol dollar. Derp.
good point
Between the lying public school system, the bloodsucking college admins, and yes those who credited this school, there are enough scumbags to blame and take money from besides the students who were lied to since childhood about how college was the key to financial success
And no true accountability for the admins either. They aren't having to pay back their ill-gotten gains from ruining thousands of people's lives.
The pattern is, where there's big public money involved, accountability & oversight is very low, like with DoD (NEVER passed an audit), Finance & Treasury, HHS, HUD...). Problem isn't that these programs/administration's exist, but who has been running them. Putting shyte people in to run these, in order to discredit public institutions in favor of total privatization of everything everywhere (Chicago School of Economics) with no regulations is their prize (Powell report; Reaganomics' wet dream, the Business Plot of 1933).
There is Brianna’s temper tantrum. Nobody’s allowed to talk over her.
But watch how fast she will instantly comment on somebody that raises their voice or gets snippety at all when they're arguing with her and watch how she will never let them live it down
She always points out Robbie interrupting her. But generally she just talks over everyone, even guest. She does not hide her intolerance for people that have different views.
What Brianna doesn't understand is ending the federal student loan program will do far more to bring down costs of higher education than anything to do with forgiveness....
Take away the predatory loans fronted by the American tax payer and the entire Ponzi scheme fails.
Actual banks aren’t loaning an 18-year old kid $400k over four years! Unless Mom and Dad can back the loan with collateral!
This was sold as a way to allow lower economic students access to college. It’s actually another wealth transfer from the lower income folks to the most elite institutions. And the kids that don’t finish college but have to pay back six figures?! Ouch.
It’s disgusting.
Yes, because the 'institutes of higher learning' quickly realized that with the government guaranteeing student loans that they could get away with charging students any amount that they wanted to! 'Higher education' is a government sponsored scam; don't think that the politicians aren't getting their ten percent!
And that should be the next step. And she's Leftist so she does realise that. What Republicans don't understand is that we can do two things.
College tuition exploded with the student loan program. What a scam.

2020 Expenditures - 6.67 trl
2019 Tax Revenues - 3.70 trl
2019 Expenditures - 4.75 trl
and so on
But things aren't looking well anymore. Russia has bailed out of US treasuries. China is bailing out right now. Dollar is no longer a secure reserve currency. So US can no longer borrow as much as used to borrow.
As of 2022, about 90% of all government revenue came from personal, corporate, and payroll taxes. That's a vast majority, but it's not "all". "Almost all" is somewhat accurate, but 10% of 5 trillion dollars (the amount of revenue in 2022) is $500 billion, hardly chump change (and easily enough to pay for those student loans nearly 100 times over).
Denying that government money comes from taxpayers should almost disqualify a journalist from speaking about economics.
One can be in pro or against where government spends "our" money but denying it is our money sounds lubricous.

Robbie also said that if they can’t get back their money back from the defrauders, then he would only support discharge through bankruptcy, which ruins someone’s credit for many years.
Revealing. Brianna “believes” in modern monetary theory. Note that it is part of her “belief”system, not her gained knowledge through logical rigor.
Read up on MMT. Examine the U.S. monetary system and how govt funding works. Apply logical rigor.
MMT: A country doesn’t need to raise taxes in order to spend money because they can print ad infinitum.
That’s a bankrupt theory because it relies on the US dollar being the reserve currency of the world, which it is.
In reality the dollar is back by crude oil because crude oil sales only happen in dollars.
Anyone who buys crude oil around the world needs to exchange their local currency for dollars so that they then have dollars to buy the oil.
But if the US implements modern monetary theory, eventually the flood of those dollars will cause the US dollar to no longer be the reserve currency of the world and we become Venezuela or Argentina.
Someone would say we’re already doing mmt because we printed more dollars during the pandemic then in the history of the modern dollar.
Once OPEC starts taking other currencies instead of the US dollar for the purchase of oil, the United States economy is in a colossal world of trouble
@@gs8136 MMT economists don't advocate printing money "ad inifinitum" because it can have negative consequences. The U.S. COULD, sure. But we shouldn't. This idea does NOT completely rely on our reserve currency status. Take a look at Japan.
It's true that about 80% of world oil deals are conducted in Dollars. But the U.S. dollar also has value because of our economy and influence behind it. Therefore we are very unlikely to "become Agrentina." Which should be obvious. Further, there are sources of energy other than oil. Oil is shrinking as a main source of energy. So, the dollar will not necessarily be in trouble if other currencies increase as a means of directly buying oil.
One major point of MMT is that federal taxes don't fund federal spending. This is true, and has been for decades.

This is how the adult world works.
That’s why the government has certain regulations for some things, and the rest of it is let the buyer beware.
The law profession has evolved to operate more in theory than reality
Uh - don’t tell Bri that - banks, car companies, Elon Musk, and even insurance companies have their hand out for a tax payer funded bailout. It I get it we have been trained to feel that rich people “deserve” tax breaks more than poor people
But sometimes you can get money back. Thru the process of Bankruptcy.
Bailing out students who went to a for-profit art school saves just the students.
Bailing out insurance and manufacturing companies during a financial crisis saves hundreds of thousands of jobs which means hundreds of thousands of people don’t suffer the way they would if these industries collapsed.
It tastes bad, but bailing out an industry is better for 350 million Americans than bailing out students.
By the way, Obama should’ve let those industries fail because in bankruptcy they would’ve had new management, new ownership, and they would’ve been restructured for more efficiency. Boeing, the airlines, the car companies, the insurance companies, etc., would still exist today with barely a hiccup in operations
But you see, the government was involved in the ruze to sucker students into student loans. And because we love war mongers, the kids are turning their backs on this election. Get a clue of how things work in this country.
“I believe in modern monetary theory because I’m an adult.” 🥴

Because there is still the enormous income disparity to deal with, and if we loose faith in the $ we are done, and it's mad max from now on....is that what you want?
Well, let's consider this: a fraudulent school cannot be sued, so those who did nothing wrong are left with debt. They cannot file for bankruptcy to rid themselves of the debt. How can this be fair? The people who ran the schools can never be forced to disgorge their unearned salaries.
She’s rattling him and it’s because she’s disrespectful and hardly lets him speak. I’m appalled.
Hey Brianna, if These people we're poor in the beginning....why we're they given a loan in which they knew that they wouldn't get there money back. This is completely crazy and backwards...so your saying that anytime I buy a car, home or get a loan to start a business, I can be bailed out by the government because I'm poor and shouldn't have never been eligible for the loan in the first place. As usual.... Robbie got it correct again.
difference between those examples and a student loan is that people can claim bankruptcy and be rid of all those various debt...cause FYI millions of Americans get a loans home, car, electronic device, vacation they couldn't afford in the first place ...only student who can ever get rid of them when no feasible way to pay them
Thats what youre missing the school changed income to get them approved knowing they could not afford it. Do you tell the bank to give you less on your loan once you provide your income and finances? No you trust that the system caculate that honestly from the income you provided.
If BJG is so frustrated with Robby, she should consider a career change. Would it help if i said please?
Bri is clueless most oilfield workers have vocational training.
She's Progressive so they assume they know everything
Oilfield workers do not need educational training, they’ll hire felons off the road
Robby should get combat pay.
this is actually the best comment in here
This lady has no clue how Taxes work....
"You don't have to tax to spend", wow Bri is even dumber than I previously thought. Modern monetary theory is pure garbage.
I'm guessing people that believe in that theory also believe in CRT...
How about redirecting funds, say, from the military budget.
Hes not dumb for not knowing bankruptcy does not clear student loans that were Federally distributed?? Answer Racist have no answer
What planet is Bri living on? Our government is run by OUR taxes. We are paying for this!
They print the money.
you are borrowing for it.
they just gave billions away to military business and Israel, but that didn't increased your tax rate or closed any libraries.
You'll probably feel it more by having less buying power.
What the government needs to do is stop funding these corrupt wars and support our own people
I wonder if Bri watches these videos and notices how toxic she is.
The answer to that question is a resounding NO!!!
Absolutely not. She has even said that she doesn’t read any comments. I think that’s ridiculous to not understand whether your audience agrees with you or not
This comment section is more toxic than she ever will be

Robby is right. Why pay taxes if the gov. doesn't need the money. You sound like a crazy person Bri. I do love and appreciate you though. Always
People need to understand that difference between federal and local taxes. Local taxes is needed to fund things. Thats not the same on the federal level. They can issue new funding whenever they need to.

Why not bailout essential workers who they exposed to co vid everyday like nurses and caretakers
There are already many forgiveness, loan payment and other programs for healthcare workers. And for the 2± years for an A.S. nursing degree, they make really good money and it is easy to find jobs in nursing. Healthcare has been supported this way for many years because of worker shortages.
Never hear of them taking care of trade schools debt ?? Yes, Ivy leaguers but normal people, nope.
They have. Not enough, but they have.
Brianna is so confused on where federal money comes from. The government doesn’t have any money to give for loans without our taxes. Or are we referring the money the fed magically printed which is contributing to our massive inflation and devaluation problem?
Actually they do. They issue new money ALL the time.
I work in a major retail store. We have no employees on the floor to help customers, and only one tech at a time instead of 3. ONE cashier instead of 3.. There is a stack of applications in the manager's office. But, 'THE CORPORATION' keeps cutting man hours to save money, and don't care that their stores are going down the toilet. They tell us not to stop people who are blatantly stuffing their backpacks with stolen goods. Gee...it almost seems like this country is being brought down ON PURPOSE! Let's think...when did this all start?
BRIAHNA BELIEVES IN MMT…she’s discredited, take her off the show please.
Both parties "believe" in MMT, apparently. That's why the U.S. monetary system works as it does. And why we have a huge national debt.
@@presence5426 the huge national debt is a clue that it doesn’t work though right?

We did deficit spending for DECADES. Mostly inflation was under control (like 2-3%). Is that wrong? I know there are lots of problems. You underestimate how BAD things can get. MMT is crank science. It like thinking a street magic trick is real.

Bri doesn’t know how the tax system works or economics…
Have an economist on to speak about this, ffs.
What makes you think raising more taxes that the government would spend that tax money to actually help the American people and not just give it away a funding wars overseas? How come the answer is never to reform the way our government spends our money but that the government just needs to take more of our money or take more of somebody else's money?
Ending homelessness like California did? how much money can we throw at the problems before we realize money is not the issue.
bri, the government was not setup to support people. we now have a class that lives on government handouts.
It's trickle up, not trickle down, get that straight.
The tension is getting so thick! I hope these two don't come to blows!
This contention is over the top this week. It is becoming unbearable to watch!
5:15 explains modern monetary theory. So, if you don't have to tax to spend, just print enough until I'm debt free.
It’s HILARIOUS listening to Bri talk about economics. She couldn’t economics her way out of a paper bag.
I wonder where this outrage was when taxpayers paid out more that $1 trillion dollars (some estimates are in the $3 trillion dollar range) to bail out banks and wall street cronies after they gambled with people's money to invest in investment vehicles that had no sound value. To add more insult, these bank execs were then given ridiculous bonuses and fun money for Christmas parties while folks on main street lost their houses to foreclosure. I rather help out a fellow taxpayer than a multinational corporation or bank that has no loyalties to the country or its people.
Gotta love it, Bri talks all day, doesn’t let him talk and then tells him, “not letting me talk” this week was unbearable
Go Robbie, Go!
MMT is complete garbage and her trying to beg the question is really frustrating. Thank you for stopping that!
Tax away Briahna. You think anyone who you want to get the money will actually get it???
If we privatized student loans, then the lender would scrutinize the place that you want to borrow to go attend and make sure they're legit because they want you to be able to get a job afterwards. The fact that the government will just loan money to whomever to study whatever is the problem here and also makes it easy for colleges to raise prices.
Get the federal government out of higher ed completely!
The cut at the end 😂😂 Robby kind of talked himself into a corner but the Sparks continue to fly on Rising! Love it!

Nah. Burden”s been getting paid by his real constituents since the late 70”s
Hey old Joe. How about forgiving some of everyones loans. Just forgiving a few peoples isn"t fair to the rest of us. Financial discrimination.
Fallacious logic.
I normally am happy with her good hearted pushback, but the idea that the student loan money comes from a magical place where economic rules do not apply is just... Idiotic.
It's funny how she makes sure not to let robbie talk because she is wrong
Go Robby!
3:18 wow Bri is a huge exaggerator, and how could she say that Republicans have deviated from the working class?!?! She says that they only care about the people wearing hard hats and working in oil, but most work in retail. So she even admits that that people with art degrees are not working class because arts degrees have nothing to do with a retail job unless they got a worthless art degree that ended them up in retail.
You clearly do not work for a living. The point is that most WORKING CLASS people are in retail and service. The fact that these are held by many with college degrees and have debt they cannot handle due to a shifting economy should be a Republican concern.

The bill isn't picked up by taxpayers. The loan balances are wiped from the books. This is mostly after former students have been paying on loans for a long time. Often 10 years.
@@presence5426but the government issued a 10 year bond to investors to pay those EDU institutions. The liability to the bond holder still exists. You can't just wipe out an issued bond. Yes!!! Your son is very lucky, great example of how to make wise financial choices.
Well, we all contribute to all children to obtain higher education to increase the wealth and skills of our country. America needs a tad bit from a different perspective. A little collective thinking
In the eary 90s, starter homes in my area were under $30,000 then the fed subsidized first time loans up to $57,950. Within one year all the dumps were listed for $57950.
