  • The Biden administration earlier this month announced it would cancel student debt of more than 277,000 borrowers.
    The administration is forgiving $7.4 billion for borrowers in more than 40 states in the latest debt relief program, bringing the total amount of student loan cancellation over Biden’s presidency to $153 billion.
    The latest loan forgiveness initiative is coming through various income-driven repayment (IDR) plans, including the president’s newly established SAVE program.

      That's not really relevant. He's there to consider, debate, and vote on proposed laws, and that's exactly what he's doing.
      As for the loans, students should not have borrowed more than they could pay back in a reasonable timeframe. It has been known for a long time that it was unwise to spend too much on these fancy schools. I went to a tech school to learn an honest trade. No debt was incurred, even though I didn't have much money. *Don't reward unwise behavior - if we do, people will become less and less wise, and our country will suffer greatly.*

      Everyone’s story is different. Although you may have been the super intelligent one who did not incur debt at trade school many did & may not have been able to get further than just paying the interest.
      You just seem so smug about this.

    • @FLPhotoCatcher
      @FLPhotoCatcher 11 дней назад

      @@CatherineLeighe You don't have to be super intelligent to avoid large debts.
      But my main point is that people, especially the government, should not reward unwise behavior. I'm ok with the schools themselves, or charity organizations helping the indebted students.
      I'm sorry if I seem very smug, but I'm not really.

    Make the companies that are requiring the workers to have a minimum degree of college in order to qualify to be employed in their fields! If the employer requires a degree in the field then they should pay for the workers training. The citizens already have to pay the funds for the K-12 education system that they take advantage of for their financial benefit! The government acts like the people are being given money out of their pockets. Every single dollar the government spends is our money. The government doesn’t have a problem spending our money on military industrial complex’s and weapons to occupy several hundred military bases around the world! Or throw money at private weapon contractors who are overpricing their goods and services and the government doesn’t even bother to audit them to secure our resources! I’m tired of government representatives and officials being outraged by the people actually receiving some of our money to help the people! The only reason for a central government is to intake and distribute the money to help the people and their best interests! Not to give to foreign governments or bailouts to corporations that have poor business practices that steal from the working classes! I could go on but the entire system is a joke!
