so, what's the grave marker's actual intended use? just as a bit of base décor, or for terrain? would that be the first time we've gotten something like that in a upgrade it?
actually, looking at it, we've got quite a few pieces that fit that bill, the jerry can and the sandbags.
honestly I'm all for it, wish the marine upgrade kits had environmental décor for basing and such
I really hope this means we'll get upgrade sprues to make Kreig,Catachan,Tempestus Scions and other regiments. I'm sick of Cadian's being the only regiment that get love
Seconded. Cadians are essentially the Ultramarines of the guard, and we are BEYOND ready for an upgrade sprue for smaller regiments, like the Mordian, Tannith, Krieg (kind of), Steel Legion, etc.

No kidding. When I started GW there was Steel Legion, metal Cadians, Mordians, Praetorians, and Catachans.
Erm... Kreig got their sprue... and their upgrade kit. They are both in the Kill team box. This basically just allows you to make a Cadian kill team with the new kits too with a few nuce extras (I see comms officer parts, veteran, medic and demo). Catachan deffiently need their love though, but surely that will be a few years out to spread the hype.
@@TrilainaBloodwind As the Cadians are basically the template most other regiments are based off of it makes sense. Focus on them first and then branch out as interest dips. Just like they did with Black Templars with Marines. I don't think you will see any unique regiments until interest has lulled a bit and the next cycle comes around.

The grave marker and wounded soldier are genius, hopefully a sign they'll bring similar things for other factions, it's really cool for kitbashes and dioramas
Wounded Primaris lieutenant standing (or rather, lying) on a pair of tactical Marines with a stretcher. It's the perfect replacement for the tactical rock.
my brother in Christ the wounded arm has been in the command squad kit for the last two decades and you could make a grave market out of spare bits present in the infantry squad kit. Nothing your paying for is new and they are getting you to buy plastic sand bags which is silly since you can just make your own out of clay.
@@brim-skerdouglasson Ya buy a whole ass command squad just for a few bits. These upgrades can be used across all the guard infantry without giving you a bunch of whole same ass models you'll be forced to shelve because you can only field one or two command squads. Not to mention that the upgrades in one pack can supply a few units rather than working with the limited bits you'd get from spare bits. This is simply an easy way to make good bits far more accessible and cheaper than buying units just for the bits, no one cares is if they've done before, actually think about it.

Yeah, I think Krieg Kill team box will get their accessory kit split off soon (maybe end of this kill team edition?) and we will end up with a Regular Krieg infantry box and a separate accessory sprue.
This upgrade pack also looks really cool, I'm excited for it. There's also a robot arm lol these are awesome, the guardsmen reading the map can be put into random armies as a joke clearly he took the wrong turn at ultramar
robot arm also in the old command kit, same with reading a map. Really they just copied all there old stuff and modernized it.
I love all the tools and the grave thing. This feels like a diorama upgrade as much as a squad one.

Maybe similar upgrade packs but with different "flavours" of the Regiments?
These new upgrade sprue does makes me want to get one for to convert the new Cadian Shock troops. The only thing this kit's missing are the Cadian pattern shotguns for the veteran squad, most of their heads have the looks to build that squad. Maybe they'll make another sprue for them since you cannot get the Forge World ones anymore. Still, most of everything I saw here has some interesting bits, including the Armoured Division Officer.
I think the injured guardsmen should be the last man standing in each unit "I don't hear no bell"
2 years ago I took a break from Warhammer 40k, started off my own side business. I said to my mates who’ve been playing and painting non-stop. I will return when the new guardsmen are released…. And boy howdy, what can I say. I’ve been a massive Cadian fanboy since I 7 years old in 2003 or so. To see these new models and this upgrade sprue is like our prayers being answered.
I ordered my Cadia Stands boxset yesterday, cannot wait to get it in the mail, that bayonet and axe are just stunning

Is that not exactly what they have been doing with Kill Team? We've had Krieg (which makes a perfectly functional squad without the extra gubbins) and Imperial Naval dudes (I know its not technically guard but you can totally do a themed army), If we get a Catachan kit I'd bet its a kill team kit first.
I am half expecting the Krieg kill team kit to be "retired" and split up and reboxed, with the regular infantry kit getting split off from the accessories sprue (they are indevidual sprues already) and sold just like the Cadian accessory kit.
I really want upgrade packs that can be used to convert Guard into other regiments. While I think having half a dozen unique versions of the infantry kit is probably unrealistic, I think it would be a nice compromise to have a kit you can buy that gives you the option to convert the new kit into something that looks more like the different regiments.
I think its going to be more like Kill Teams, like the Plastic Krieg box.

Every time they've done a survey or asked on social media what we want for the last few years, I've said "Guard upgrade sprue kit for different regiments, I would love to make some Tanith." They might finally give me what I want.
These are nice! I wasn't expecting this much for upgrade packs but this does confirm my theory of guard upgrade kits. Next I think they'll put together upgrades with all the new killteam guard regiments
All I have to say is; given Guard are my New Year new Army, I want as much of this as I can get my mitts on

i hope with this that other regiments also get something. because cadia feels like the face of the faction where they get all of the cool stuff and the other regiments get nothing like we have new kits for cadian guard troopers but nothing for catachan who still have their ancient kit

Something like this for the orks would have been infinitely better than the mono-pose models that the combat patrol 'gifted' us with.
Great more stuff for the poster boys/girls of the guard, not like we couldn't use kits from some of regiments as well like the Valhallans, Mordians, Tallarn( i mean largest tank battle in the imperial history happened on tallarn but hey nothing to Cadia.) Or mabey like Voystrans.

I was sceptical about the arm holding a piece of paper... then it dawned on me... have an Officer holding it, then it becomes that one useless junior Lieutenant who can't even read a map so he gets all of his men killed on patrol. 10/10 quality XD

I really like the new Cadians, at first I thought there new lasguns looked like space m1 garands. Fingers crossed for tallarn desert raiders and vostroyan first born.

What I'm curious about is they clearly say cadian upgrade sprue. So does that potentially mean we might get upgrade sprues for steel legion,. Catachan or krieg

Honestly, I think the Imperium would consider "has a pulse" optional if the guardsman could still fight. Imagine an army of reanimated cadaver Guard.

Steel Legion needs some love.
I like this upgrade sprue. I have made a recovery vehicle for my army and the arms with the wrench will fit perfectly on a soldier serving on that. More female heads, heads with caps instead of helmets, the "machine gun" and ammo belt arms, so much goodeies here. Looking forward to using this to get some variation in to my units.
I feel like the bandage guy should be the last one to fall in the squad. Just keeps getting hurt, patched up, and sent out over and over.
Personally, I'd try to make the bandaged up guy the LAST one in the squad that dies.
Also they could easily make a catachan upgrade for the new carian kit leave the legs and armour torso and put on sleeveless arms and bandana heads and for the Krieg kit you could make different gas masks and respirators and have a steel legion kit

@@IdioticSynergy The fact that it's listed as a Cadian upgrade sprue is actually promising, because that implies other upgrade sprues. We can hope to see them for the Kriegsmen and maybe the Catachans.

I feel like you're incorrect in this instance about what the Guard generally is, which is the cream of the crop of various PDF and other military units after a gruelling selection and re-training process. They only seem weak in comparison to the foes they face, which are often a tide of giant bugs coated in razor sharp spikes, or Space Marines turned evil. There's very little 'grab a gun and go' about the Imperial Guard lorewise. And female heads/guard members are nothing new, though it is about time GW provided the option so we didn't need to go third party yes.
I like the upgrade kit. I'll be getting it.

my only nitpick is that there are only two backpacks in this.
and 3 rolled bedrools (one whit a bolt cutter) one thats just some rope.
still no sheeted weapons (chainsword, sword and so on) meaning my coffee drinking officer that holding a plasma pistol one hand and a coffee cup in the other (is missing a critical melee option).
or my rouge rider (using geenstealer bikes whit guard torsos) are missing half of there equipment. half is missing the range weapon the other half the melee weapon.

This kit is near perfect, the only thing I dislike are the redesigned facemasks. The originals were better and I don't know why they changed them

CSM upgrade sprew when
I remember at some point a Warhammer Community post bragging about no guardsmen in the new sprues having a crouching pose, and I was like “that’s weird, I didn’t know people disliked crouching poses”. Apparently if, like me, you don’t dislike them you gotta pay extra 😂 /hj
I think it was because the crouching poses legs where sort of wierd compared to the standing ones (not flat but had that wierd bump at the back going up that made fitting pieces more anoying then it should be. and also one of the crouching poses legs in the box was sort of badly made from what I remmber (not terrible but like it was just a blub).
as cool as they look, i bet they will cost 3/4 the price of a squad or even the same.
Ay yes, the lesser known and underrated regiment of Cadia. They really needed these upgrades. Such a neglected regiment...

If you look closely, it offers accessories to make them Valid for Kill team. If you look closer still, you may notice, people like Cadia and have been crying out for years for upgraded kits, since their old kits looked like ass. GW will probably do other regiments as the Hype cycle dies down and they are looking for stuff to make/sell.
25 heads, multiple arms, 2 legs and torsos and a tank commander?
This thing will be £25 a least. Because if it costs the same as a primaris upgrade pack it'll be shit for anyone who's bought them.
On a different note, those female heads actually look reasonably well designed; for GW this is a big improvement.

I'm no 40k scientist...but can someone explain to me why Sgt. Harker and Straken are "stronger" than a Primaris??? And if Primaris are supposed to be stronger and better than first born why do they have the same stats???
Copious amounts of plot armour is the answer.
Asking how any of the old school 1990's Catachan Triplets do what they do is like asking how John McClane took out 20 heavily armed robbers in Nakatomi Plaza on his own.

@@Titus_Vespasianus It would suck so much warp balls having to juggle stat ranges nuanced enough to represent the lore even halfway accurately, not to mention that games would have to be played on living room size game boards to accurately represent lore appropriate weapon ranges etc.

Ah yes, GW's "women" heads, it would help if they actually looked remotely female...
I would've welcomed the return of the hazardous environment team heads and such, but this strikes me as utterly lazy. Also, why weren't they on the original sprue? Milking fans again... I think we all know the answer to that!

Could have used the opportunity to provide pieces to make a Cadian themed Veteran Guardsman Killteam.
