Or will french finally take over America and make it l'Empire Divin des Amériques and create the good ending for our world ? But I digress, thanks for your work, and may we see someday a follow-up on this historical masterpiece.
I think there are certain topics in this video that didn't get covered that would have had to happen. 1st the British, and Boubons absolutely would have tried to poison or assassinate Napoleon and his son. Failed attempts would have made Napoleon even more popular and the British more angry with failures. I suspect the British would have built up their military in Canada much heavier in this timeline. At same time to win Canada you would have had to take Halifax which is Canada's most important naval port and it's got a fort that would be extremely difficult to take. At same time I think French immigration would have been higher in this timeline with many in France coming to America those who adored Napoleon.

It is more likely English and Spanish would just merge into its own language (American) as what happened between Sicilian and Arabic leading to the Maltese language. What about French? Honestly I'd say staying in Americas makes more sense, as in this timeline he's kind of a poster boy for the American ideal, a part French, part Austrian, that immigrated to the USA and grew in prominence. Plus one would assume by now he's likely married an American or Canadian.
It should be noted that despite Mexico being in the south, the Mexican mainland was very abolitionist at the time. I’d be curious to know what the civil war would look like at the time. Would the Mexican states ally themselves with the north to fight the institution of slavery, or take advantage of the war to fight for independence
It's well possible slavery is outlawed without a large scale conflict, or it's put down swiftly by the contributions of the rest of the continent. Free States would have an overwhelming majority in both houses, any "Compromises" being pretty much dead on that basis. If it even happens i'd think it likely that some of the more mixed-opinion states like Texas (which had it's governor overthrown to secure secession) might not have even joined, or would be swiftly put down by Federal forces marching north from Mexico. You could have, within the first year, the western theater "secured" and even larger forces bearing down in the east.
Amazing work as usual Videntis! My vot is for Napoleon II to stay in the US, so that his cousin Napoleon III can take the french throne and thus the 2 of them be close allies! A little bit of an optimistic scenario tbh. Given US views on Native Americans, and his political base in the south, it seems doubtful that he would be able to support the Native Americans like the Seminoles. The Panic of 1837 also had many causes behind it, and a lack of arable land to expand to wasn’t really among them. Given Napoleon’s action as president, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a Northern-led secessionist movement. Antagonized the Protestant faiths while supporting the Catholic Church which held official views against Republicanism. Rejected annexing Canada for fear of upsetting the balance of power, but immediately annexed the entirety of Mexico, thus ensuring that the South would remain the dominant power in the US going forward. Add to that the Northern Elite that would be pissed by how thoroughly wrecked their business interests with the UK were and thus have reason to slander Napoleon and use all the ammunition available in the war of public opinion. It seems likely that despite Napoleon’s intentions to build a strong united America, he would instead produce a more divided America than in our timeline, and a potential split between North and South seems plausible. With all the disastrous implications for continued existence of slavery that entails.
I think Napoleon II would stay in the US by where this alternate history ends he’d have lived more than half his life in the US, that would undoubtedly have changed him and most likely he’d have come to love his new adopted home.
Britain was always worried about some land power uniting Europe against it. However, an earlier awakening of the US as a superpower in alliance with France would turn that on its head.
Considering how much Napoleon the 2nd got attached to Austria, I feel a similar thing would happen with America. With exception to the transfer of royalty, are there any notable examples of a leader of one nation moving to another independent nation and becoming their leader?
I was thinking of something far more alternative history to set ground for Napoleon to become emperor of America, like large numbers Huguenots expelled to America, the America colony divided due to house of Stuart fail to restore monarchy in Britain and James II exile to Virginia(Charles didn’t give up claim and Virginia was royalist while Puritan dominate New England ) and by the end of 18th century the failed French Revolutionary exiled/expelled and American revolutionary collide together in this theater, bring Napoleon on table as well. Not to mention other than Huguenots Irish Scots also exile, expels due to commonwealth of England’s policy and immigration from other places. I imagining Napoleon‘a great adventure to be emperor of America
this is such an interesting scenario, i’d think napoleon II would stay in america because he grew up there, but if napoleon III became french emperor… i wonder how ww1 would turn out, usa, france and probably austria vs britain, prussia, and russia. though, i wonder about the loyalties of spain and maybe the ottomans and japan if they get involved. this scenario needs a part 2
I really liked how Canada became an independent French-speaking nation made up of French Canadians. I was hoping instead that this new Canada would help Mexico in their war against America since they are both Catholic and Latin nations. They would also share some cultural similarities just like how France and Spain do. We could've seen what is today the West coast US become a New Andorra in the New World.
The full annexation of Mexico was seen as an extreme option and opposed by a lot. I think you may have been better off by saying napoleon used his power and decided it by convincing a majority of people. Edit: but either way a fun video to watch.
You are closer to real history than you realize. Actually, Napoleon was on his way to St. Marys, GA when captured. He planned to create a plantation with no slaves. He planned to design new machinery for agriculture than would make slavery undesirable. He also planned to start a world-class university in Savannah, where he would be professor of mathematics and mechanical engineering. This information was actually statements made by Napoleon and printed by biographers in Europe.
@@mateoparvex-switzer725 I don't have the info handy. This information was for a book that I wrote on Fort Caroline in 2012. My former cabin was hit by a tornado in 2017. LOL I know it is factual, but you will have to put together the pieces from French historical documents. Write your Google inquiries in French. See most Americans don't know that there was a French colony on the St. Marys and Satilla Rivers in Southeast Georgia. The original name of Waycross, GA was Tebeauville. So there was a reason for Napoleon to head there.
Though later in his life, when age took its toll, he was far wiser and understood the wrong in his actions. He deeply regretted his mistakes and reflected on what he should have done. So not too far fetched in my honest opinion.
Keep Napoleon II in America, leave Europe alone, besides he gets a better life here but if he is anything like his father,he would be very Ambitious so i have to accept that he would return to France
I think he would come to view himself as more american than french. He had lived there most of his life. He served the usa. And would most likely have had a wife and kids at this point
There's actually a French comic book that had this exact scenario. Carlo Bonaparte and his family fled to the Thirteen Colonies and Carlo died protecting Washington during the Delaware Crossing, to which the Commander in Chief adopted the young Napoleon. It results in him becoming the supreme leader of a U.S.-led conquest of Latin America similar to Simón Bolívar

I support Napoleon II staying in the US. A strong USA is what we need in this alternate history.
napoleon on his way to create a second france:
I think realistically Napoleon the Second would stay in America, but Napoleon the Second could go back to France to fulfil his father’s legacy
Restart the French Empire 😂
Fun fact, Napoleons Great Nephew did actually become Attorney General of the US during the Roosevelt Administration.
this is such an interesting scenario, i’d think napoleon II would stay in america because he grew up there, but if napoleon III became french emperor…
i wonder how ww1 would turn out, usa, france and probably austria vs britain, prussia, and russia. though, i wonder about the loyalties of spain and maybe the ottomans and japan if they get involved. this scenario needs a part 2
France, Austria, USA vs Britain, Prussia/Germany, and Russia. I very much would like to see this scenario. 😎👍
What an amazing video and a unique scenario thank you for the amazing quality content
Glad you enjoyed it
I really liked how Canada became an independent French-speaking nation made up of French Canadians.
Nobody talking how this is like "if everything went perfect for USA"
As a franco american i see this as a absolute win.
Source? I’d like to read about that.
Very cool video but I honestly doubt that Napoleon would simply leave after his two terms... his main flaw was always wanting more.
His paragraph seems to have run ons or fragments
This is so glorious we missed so much
As an American idk why but I’m fantasizing about this happening in real life
lol same
Can you please do a video on what if the Union of South Africa succeeded?
You should make one where Spain and England switch colonies or Portugal and France or France and Germany switch colonies
There is no word to say how much I love your video as a Québécois Bravo keep up the good work !!! :D
Quebec is Canadian
nope@@ugothmpzed7043
i’d love to see if napoleon were born in italy
Crazy how the greatest french man was Italian 💀
>no Indian removal act
>annexes all of Mexico
>enlarges Quebec
so this timeline is just objectively worse for the USA
If you make a part 2 are you gonna do both parts or do we choose, Because if so, I kind of wanna see a Us-France alliance take place once more
There's actually a French comic book that had this exact scenario.
Such a shame that his video does not have 5 000 likes.
PLS MAKE what if the second mexican empire survived!!
What if the Roman Republic (1849-1850, and was ruled as a triarchy of three men). Was able to survive longer and unite Italy instead of the House of Savoy? Essentially what if Mazzini united Italy?
This is excellent. Jackson🤝Napoleon
Would love a part 2, maybe Napoleon III still rises in France and invades Mexico, this time successfully installing Maximillian on the throne leading to an alliance between USA, France, Mexico, and Austria-Hungary vs Britain, Prussia/Germany, and Russia.
If this is too crazy that’s fine.
Oh you annexed Mexico, never mind.
I think Napoleon II should stay in America, he could guide the nation to greatness and ally his cousin in France to counter Britain.
I'm looking forward to seeing part 2 of if Spain and Portugal unite, so that the Iberian empire is much more powerful having all of America, the North African coast, southern Italy, and colonies throughout Asia and Africa
I would like you to make a video about whether Germany will win the Second World War, I know there are many videos of that but I would love to see it in your style of narration, a Reich that reached the English Channel to the Ural Mountains
Would the Marshals of France jump aboard with Napoleon and just become Cajun Major Generals?
The Good Timeline
Keep up the good work!
Napoleon would never have been opposed to slavery. He reinstated slavery in the Carribean and even tried to quash a slave uprising.
I wonder if french influence and warmer attitude towards catholic immigrants would create a wider divergence beetween British English and american English and if it would largely affect american culture
Love your videos videntis! They are always a treat!
Suggestion: what if henry viii son by catherine of aragon, henry duke of cornwall survives to become Henry IX?
Great suggestion!
8:17 a tear comes from napoleons eyes as he says: je suis fier de toi fils
This should be a book
I know this scenario was super far fetched and unrealistic but it was still great.
What if Margaret Maid of Norway lived? What if she lived to marry Edward II as planned, creating an Anglo-Scottish union?
I read an AH about Napoleon's family fleeing corsica to America and he grew up there. It was awesome like this one.
The future we needed but never had.
i love this you should make a part 2 i want to see how the civil war is handled or the rise of socialism
Great video
Even tho you are not the first person to do this what if, i love this video
Who else did this? I’ve never seen another scenario like this so I would love to check it out
@@Videntis.History he sadly deleted it, and now he has only one video about what if Germany did sea lion. His channel is called what if map or map what if
It would be far more interesting for Napoleon II to become president of the USA
But with most of Canada and Mexico under US control, how would the Civil War break out? Or would Napoleon II be able to outlaw slavery together with Abraham Lincoln and prevent the Civil War?
Alternate History Hub said it best "Even in Alternate History, you can't go around death." Napoleon had stomach cancer as well as a plethora of other issues, his ass was dying by the end of the 1820s no matter what. Especially in the hellish time for medical treatment.
I mean he’s not a source of history, he’s just a RUclipsr. Many actual historians think he may have been poisoned by the British, and any credible historian agrees that his conditions on St. Helena contributed to his death. So I completely disagree with him for those reasons
Fascinating alternate history!
Part to Will be Amazing
that would be so cool
I 100% want to see a part 2!
I think Napoleon The Second would have stayed in the US but it also depends on how he see's him as well
If Lafayette had alternate loyalties this may have been at least somewhat possible
You had me until all mexico was annexed in a single war
i love to see original shit like this man yes i gotta use the vulgar language because youre making history man bringing back alt his with a few other guys bringing in fresh things no 1 did before while also making refreshing versions of things that have already been worn out
mexico can never catch a break in alt history 😔
Gotta be honest: as a Mexican, I founded myself quite astonished how in this alternate timeline my country received the short end of the stick. But as an enthusiast of Napoleon's history and figure, it doesn't seem so bad. I'll be eagerly expecting part 2
Much of this sounds like a reverse of the lore of Code Geass. Imagine an empire with liberal absolutism building strength across the oceans in the America's, then launching a global war of conquest on the monarchies of the world. That would be quite the series.
Code Geass' Britannia did conquer the United States of America in that timeline. lol
And now the United States of America conquering the world in this timeline would be hilarious.
Would be a good idea to see what would happen if the roles were reversed in Code Geass. Instead of UK, the USA went ham on the world and conquered Japan in Two Weeks I think?
@@ArmageddonEvilThe American Revolution failed because Jefferson betrayed the rebels (probably because of geass control), so they technically didn't defeat America because "America" wasn't a proper state. Agreed though, that it would be a hilarious timeline. Dick Cheney would either be a pacificist in comparison to other members of this new United States, or he could drop the mask and embrace his true imperialist heart.
@@lljkgktudjlrsmygilug They did lose their mainland of the British Isles in the timeline too. So I can see why they wanted to conquer the entire North America. A la, like the French or someone else in Europe, conquered the British Isles. But it's nice to think of a what-if about the Americans pulling a Britianna in Code Geass instead of the Holy Britannia Empire.
We need a Part 2
Im glad you put Napoleon in New Orleans. There would probably be strong local popular support because of the obvious French origins of the city but also the Louisiana Purchase, compared to the Anglophone NYC
I like how EU4 is one of the hash tags
well he did actually talk about how he wanted to "mold South America into a great empire"
Girls: Dreams have meanings
My dreams:
Mexico had lots of Napoleonic fans, many generals respected him and had portraits of him in their houses. Maybe in this timeline he could ask them to peacefully join since Mexican sentiment was very pro-Napoleon?
