I came for the tape instructions and then became too invested in that background conversation when I heard, "I never liked your paintings." That hurt more than my sprained ankle!
The first two strips alone, pulled less tightly, are enough to hold my chronically sprained, loose ankle. The point of KT Tape is not to immobilize. It is meant to support joints and tendons, to allow relatively unimpaired function while the injury heals. If you want to completely limit mobility, other materials can do that much more affordably.
I really like this KT tape application for being able to run on a sprained ankle (or peroneal tendonitis in my case), I tried an ankle brace previously and it was just didn't have enough "give" to allow running with it. My only complaint is that these KT tape strips are WAY longer than the standard pre-cut size that rolls come in, so if you use the pre-cut strips then you won't be able to get anywhere near as far up the ankle as he is in the video. Instead you have to purchase the continuous tape rolls and cut the strips yourself, which is fine except that each application takes 4 strips so you end up going through a ton of tape.
Thank u, i twisted my ankle and was limping (not sure if spraining and twisting is the same), but it did help support my ankle slightly. I couldnt walk for a while and im just taking a few steps because my muscles were pulled and my magnesiuk spray wasn't effective.
I had a grade 2 sprain a few years back. I remember having someone massage my bruised swollen ankle like a day after and RIGHT after that i tried to wrap over the swelling myself. I had no idea what i was doing and ended up wrapping my ankle too tightly ( causing myself a tone of soreness ) AND i hadn't realized until after i was done wrapping that i did not have my foot completely straighten as it was favored very slightly in the angle that i had sprained it which SUCKED b/c i was sore as hell! Don't do that guys lol
Minor strain here for any new people finding this Inside sprain/throbbing that’s a 2/3 on a 10 scale. No trouble walking but some twinge. The first two strips are more than enough for this pain rn! Trying not to waste my dads tape lol
It’s difficult to find a video that shows complete view of the inside and rear parts of the ankle. I wish someone would have a partner maneuver the camera during the instructional wrapping. Still a good video, thanks.
Can KT tape be used to prevent strains? I'm going trekking and can only find low top vs ankle boots that fit (due to bunion). Thanks to any informed replies.
I think if you pull it at 50% only, it will not produce anough force for the tourniquet effect. This X wrap is used in almost all of the scientificaly proven ankle stabilising bandages and braces.
What length tape strips are used here? I tried to follow along with KT Tape brand 2"x10" strips and was not able to get the same amount of overlap. Still feels pretty good otherwise.
Can this tape be used for leg strength in gout-suffering people? Coz my right foot is soooo painful, I can't even get out of bed sometimes and when the pain subsides a tiny bit and tried to walk, it's always excruciatingly painful and always ended up shifting all my weight to my left side of the body. As a result of that, my knees are now both in pain. So can this tape be used to help my right foot feel better(not aching so much) so I can still walk normally? Coz right now, I'm limping😭😭
I have gout. I have used it on my effected big toe to help promote some more blood flow to that area on top of my colchicine to help get rid of it. Putting it on really sucked but it did provide very mild relief.
@@ochalambana1983 yes. Its used as a treatment that you would take at the first signs of a gout flair up. It helps to shorten the length of the flair up and potentially lessen the severity. There is also allopurinol which is an everyday medicine some doctors will recommend that helps lower the uric acid levels in your blood.
@@XXGhostX15 I wish I'm strong enough to take those but unfortunately even a Panadol nearly killed me because it was too strong for me. I have to rely on herbal medicines to help me get through the day😭😭. I sure hope you can get better soon and free from gout forever 🙌🙌🙌😇😇
@@ochalambana1983 I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope the same for you as well. A lot of people swear by good tart cherry juice to help reduce the uric acid levels. I've used the brand KT Tape and they're pretty good. I just bought the pro version of it because it's water resistant, but I haven't tried it yet. I wrap my ankle and my knee and the difference between taping them and not taping them is huge!
@@mauricioloyda7087 no problem! Btw, the pro works well, but there wasn't much difference between it and the regular. If you don't need water resistant, the regular is much less expensive.
@@rooh5825 Used this technique after removal of a cast after 4 weeks after a double ligament rupture. It seemed the most similar to my brace and made sense to stabilise the foot. After 2 days of no tape, I have decided, around noon, to try this out. I instantly felt less pain and could "feel" the foot better, and it allowed me to do my rehab exercises with much greater comfort, control and range of motion. Now I dont know about the science of this, and maybe it is just a placebo, but I can absolutely feel a difference. Maybe Ill just limit my bloodflow and die, also possible.

me watching this at 1am with a newly sprained ankle:
Thank you! I sprained my ankle last weekend and this method of taping got me through an 8 hour shift on my feet the entire time!
did it really help?? i tore 2 ligaments in my ankle and im considering kinesio
Dude it helps so much. I messed up my ankle really bad a few months ago, the tape allowed me to have relatively normal use out of my ankle.
Thanks! Sprained my ankle today and it feels a million times better after wrapping it like in your tutorial!

I am a softball player and recently rolled my ankle this helped me so much with practice and games thank you for sharing with us on the internet
This is good to know. My daughter plays softball and just did the same. Thanks!
agreed. over all I liked the explanations though. Maybe get a second camera opposite side so we can see what how you taped the back side.
Thanks!! Just taped my leg looking at this video. Very well explained and hoping it helps!!
You definitely saved my ankle tonight. Thanks
I am SO glad that i have some KT tape left over from binding, im going to try this on my poor painful ankle.

I just did this and the pain is much better Monday I’ll go see a physiotherapist because it’s been a week since I got injured
Such a detailed and precise explanation !

looks tight, but i like the taping pattern for stability, maybe too many layer though
yesh
Definitely
Not to mention they're long strips

difficult to apply yourself on your own ankle. KT tape folds over on itself as I wrap.
Top Q explanation of the ankle wrap.
I'm gonna try this tomorrow. I have a 10 hour work shift, followed by dance lessons right after

Awesome. I done it. It works. Thank hoy.
You’re using a 12 inch strip tape and all I can find is a 10 inch strip in bulk tape so I had to improvise the tape technique.

مرحبا دكتور صار عندي مثل هذه الاصابه من شهرين ونصف ولازال الورم موجود وانتفاخ متصلب للغايه

I think it is better to avoid making a circular elastic bandage. We can already see the venous congestion due to the tourniquet effect. No ?

Hi! How long are the strips of tape?
Brilliant👍
Would rather use mueller if for limiting some motion
Nice. same injury, same cause
Thanks
Can you wear a nice ankle brace over it to make it even more secure?
I do!
Yes that’ll give you great stability
If you wear an ankle brace you do not need to tape it anymore
How long can the tape be left on .
I did the same thing playing field hockey
Can you tape your ankle for pain not from a sprain or broken ankle
Absolutely!
Me and my poor ankel..I sprained my ankle 2 times now in just 1 month 😭
GREAT.
This videos made by the tape company right? To waste that much tape for a sprain
Good evening from India your sudhakar rao paruchuri
hard to follow, especially if you don't know those technical anatomical names...
Looks waaayyyy too tight!
I agree; and, he didn't completely wrap the part that was swollen. Go figure!
Carola Adolf agree! Also why close the loop, that can interferes with circulation.
i agree, i had soccer today and put some up my legs because my knees hurt and it isn't that tight!
I agree too. It seems in this way it can obstruct circulation. To much tape.
It’s supposed to be tight
Are you able to point your foot with this strapping
Sally Dunn no 😂
Yes you can, you should feel some resistance tho
Thanks your tutorial
The other day I twisted my ankle and there is no sign of injury but I can't put any weight on it. Is it sprained
Probably
Le terminaron amputando el pies por falta de circulación 😂 Pienso que aplicó mucha tensión y muchos KT en tan poca área
He doesn't tell you how long to cut the strips.
They are precut
Pls where is ur office located
I sprained my ankle it hurtttssss
how long till you were fully recovered?

the tape he's using is by Theraband. It uses the markings on the tape to tell what percent stretch you're using. useful if you're new to k-taping.
Should use normal words not actual medical terms as EMTS do in the field so everyone can understand.
what brand of tape is this?
Check the title ;)
it's by Theraband.
I use this about once a month lol 😅
Zinc oxide tape is much better
pro tip, shave the bottom part of your legs first.
👍👍
Looks tight 🤔🙄
Good lord! Way too much tape!!! The point of KT tape is to be able to compete, not immobilize it.
First two worked perfect for me personally! I think the full 4 would have been too much
i didnt rlly help my ankle.

What would you suggest?
