As someone just discovering Snake Discovery, I am intrigued to know more about Rex's back story. So grateful that she is now with Ed and Emily as she is definitely living the best she can with whatever she has been through.
There's a Rex playlist and recent Rex birthday vid if you've not seen. The tl;dr is she was brought as a hatchling to the former owner's house in I think the 80s. He loved Rex, but didn't know how to take care of her. Emily got a job helping with his other pets and just omg there's an alligator and she's how old and she's fed how much? (But much more tactfully put I think). Emily tried to get her into a bigger space and eventually dude just asked if they wanted her. Right after they got married and bought a house. Imagine discussing adopting a pint sized alligator with your spouse right after you got married.

It’s really amazing to see the thorough cleaning and attention to every tiny detail in order to keep the animals safe. So many people treat these animals like money bags, and this is so reassuring to see.
Have you checked with some zoo's were they get their glass for enclosures? They put hippo's and polar bears behind glass (might be acrylic) so there must be something for an aligator.

A kid that is older than her...!
Emily: don't go behind there
Rex: ooo this looks like a nice spot - flop-
i died at that
And there goes the gator
" how do we turn it?"
Every Friends fan ever: PIVOT!!!
Lmao
Yes! A good show with good memories attached to it.
@@HerrConner627 right, not against the slash, all for it, find it hysterical, especially since I'm trans 🤣 but um, im kinda lost on how it pertains to the Friends joke. Fill the gap for me, mate?
Lol yes

Pivot pivot pivot is the first thing that came to mind when y’all were trying to get the pool in her room

"She's 34, she's a senior citizen." "She's older then the both of us."
Me, turning 34 this year: .....damn younglings.
I'm 36 this year. I'm older than Rex!
This line both shocked me and didn't surprise me at all, because I was never sure exactly how old Emily and Ed are.
@@mikkurzhal7390 same lol
@@ltgriffith85
Congratulations on being 36!
🎉 🎉 🎉
@@ltgriffith85 Same for me. It makes me feel kinda special to be just that little bit older than Rex, as weird as that is.
I love the sign on Rex's door!
Shenanigator:
n. an alligator that instigates shenanigans
Emily: she'll realize its no fun to go under the ramp
Rex: yeah right mom
Rex grumpily climbing the stairs and Emily just cheering her on with her happy kinda baby voice makes me really happy
Rex is so cute! I can’t wait until she gets to live in her enclosure at the facility!!!🐊❤️
Same
Agreed
Yesss
Yess!
I want rex to be in there so bad🐊
The smile on Rex’s face when you scrubbed her back. Adorable
Why does the ‘no pooping’ sign on the bathroom door literally have my old elementary schools mascot on it...
Did you go to Gilbert Elementary School?
@@mckenziekenzie4999 nah, I’m from florida
@@idk-sj7nj same but its in my old middle school
I've seen that mascot like 20 years ago but i can't remember where, I live in Norway...Think your school got their mascot by searching cartoon alligator or something on google lmao.
edit: It's literally the first thing that shows up when you search cartoon alligator.

TBH seeing Rex face-planting behing her pool is the funniest thing I've seen in a while 😅
what has covid done to us😅
Just think, 2 years later they both have MASSIVE enclosures at the zoo😂 The amount of progress you two make is amazing X

I feel like they are really gonna miss her when she’s at their facility instead of in their home. Even though they will probably see her every day, I’m sure it’s gonna take some time getting used to her not being in the basement.
Yeaa
Ed: *Realizes*
Ed: your camera is submersible 😏
Camera: *moving down slowly*
Emily: Nooo-
Camera: *water noises*
Chloe: 🧐🤔
Rex grew so much since the what it’s like to have a pet alligator video. I just watched them back to back and it’s a big difference!
Rex: IM GOING UP THE RAMP!!!
Also Rex: I'VE FALLEN OFF THE RAMP!!!!
I laughed so hard. Poor Rex XDD
Ed: your camera is submersible
Emily: wait no-muffled angry Emily noises
Emily: There's no way she gonna pop this [pool].
Rex:* Challenge accepted.*
i started crying when rex got mad that the door touched her
Lol love her expressions!
Scrub scrub scrub... Rex: “Bluh...”
“Maybe we should get her a treat!”
Gator head appears from pool: “Treat? Yes. Give treats! Rexy good girl!”
Rex: Now thanks for the treats but pool must be destructed
Why was Rex going up the stairs the most adorable thing?? 🤣🤣
Why wouldn't it be?
Fu
Fu...fully..funny
Don't know 😍😊
'she's smart enough to figure out a ramp'
'yeah, she'll get it'
*cut to rex immediately bonking into the space between the ramp and pool*
an absolute icon of our time, 100/10 would lay down my life for her
When Rex jumped after being tickled I swear my heart stopped beating lol 😂
Eons of evolution that led to a prehistoric like killing machine.
Also killing machine: *dats a good back scrub*
Also killing machine: oh dat tickles
Also killing machine: I is tired, leave meh alone.
Eons of evolution in which ancestors crawled across miles of swamp.
Rex: Help meh I fel off da ramp.
LMAO
It’s really amazing to see the thorough cleaning and attention to every tiny detail in order to keep the animals safe. So many people treat these animals like money bags, and this is so reassuring to see.
"She will never be able to break this pool"
Rex: "Challenge accepted!"
That’s what I was thinking
I would just love to hear why people would dislike just why snake descovery is helping a gator like come people Emily is helping. Good job emily
ed:*feeds rex deer liver*
rex:*gets red stuff on lips*
ed:" look she has lipstick on"
me: deer liver lipstick and she wants to give kisses
Have you checked with some zoo's were they get their glass for enclosures? They put hippo's and polar bears behind glass (might be acrylic) so there must be something for an aligator.
She won't break this pool.
Rex: "hold my pool toys."
Hahah I'm daed boy🤣😂
Omg yessss
Wow Princess Celestia how did you get here.
5:11 you guys are so cool for doing this for a alligator🐊 I know Rex is super happy and appreciative😄🤟🏽❤️
“Woah... Ed knows how to sweep!”
“Duly noted.”
That jollyball has been such a reliable toy of Rex's... Can't believe it's been so long since they picked it out. ; _ ;
Also this interaction was soooo funny:
"Your camera is submergable"
"Don't do it!"
"Hear we gooooo *gurgling noises*"
Hahaha. Congrats on Chloe being the first one to move in to the facility officially!
Lol
lol so true
i’ve been trying to get one for my dog bc she chews through literally everything (she likes to destroy, she’ll hold it under her paws and rip at stuff) and i figured if it can withstand an alligator is can probably withstand a dog, but we shall see
@@sentimentalworm Well dogs are a lot crazier than alligators and a lot more active for most breeds. So..
@@sentimentalworm I need one too! I bought one of those Tuff dog toys, designed to withstand strong chewers, and my dog had it torn open within five minutes. She's a Springer/Collie, not even a dog with huge jaws like a pitty or a Shepherd! I need gator proof toys!
So Rex is basically Ed and Emily's baby.
Side note: "she's smart enough to figure the ramp out" -Ed
*Rex gets head lodged under ramp, then falls under ramp*
When Ed put the stud finder on himself I spit water out my mouth 🤣😭 wasn’t expecting that at all
