1. food calories are bullshit. (calorie isn't a calorie, it is what is in the calorie) 2. fat hatred is bullshit. (non-omega 6 fats are completely healthy) So what is there to hate? "Oh there might be stuff added!" And not with other foods and nuts? Don't buy shit food with lots of other stuff in them. For the record, Macadamias have the best fat ratio of all the nuts in terms of Omega 6 and Omega 3. Yes they are high fat, but that is a good thing. Of course don't eat them all the time, but the fact is that the nature of the nut is that it makes you feel full anyway.
This is misleading. It’s not about the calories. Just avoid processed foods and stick to wholesome, minimally processed food. That includes lots of nuts, so eat away! (in moderation, of course, as with all good things)
I have my own tree. We call the nuts "Queensland Nuts" or if you live in a town or village near Bundaberg the nuts are described as the place from where they came. Forget Hawaiian nuts, we have them in Australia, but we don't market them as well as the Hawaiians. As for shelling them, you need a big hammer or a brick to break them open on a hard surface. Be careful not to whack to heavily or you'll squash the kernels (or maybe your fingers).
Macademias are one of those nuts lowest in oxalates compared to cashews and almonds, making them good for those who worry about kidney stones. I buy roasted macademia butter with no salt or butter.
old comment I know, but if you're paranoid about kidney stones, you can pretty much negate the effect of high oxalate foods by eating them together with a source of calcium. The calcium oxalate that would normally form in your kidneys will then precipitate in your stomach before the oxalate has a chance to be absorbed.
@@sgill4833 technically that is caused by an excess of calcium in the blood. You need vitamin d to get the calcium absorbed into your arteries and you need vitamin k2 to get that calcium from the blood into the bones. So actually, without vitamin k2, vitamin d can cause all that calcium in your blood to calcify so too much vitamin d and not enough vitamin k2 can actually be way more dangerous
