    1. food calories are bullshit. (calorie isn't a calorie, it is what is in the calorie)
    2. fat hatred is bullshit. (non-omega 6 fats are completely healthy)
    So what is there to hate? "Oh there might be stuff added!" And not with other foods and nuts? Don't buy shit food with lots of other stuff in them.
    For the record, Macadamias have the best fat ratio of all the nuts in terms of Omega 6 and Omega 3. Yes they are high fat, but that is a good thing. Of course don't eat them all the time, but the fact is that the nature of the nut is that it makes you feel full anyway.

    I have my own tree. We call the nuts "Queensland Nuts" or if you live in a town or village near Bundaberg the nuts are described as the place from where they came. Forget Hawaiian nuts, we have them in Australia, but we don't market them as well as the Hawaiians. As for shelling them, you need a big hammer or a brick to break them open on a hard surface. Be careful not to whack to heavily or you'll squash the kernels (or maybe your fingers).

  • @ashdgee

    Macademias are one of those nuts lowest in oxalates compared to cashews and almonds, making them good for those who worry about kidney stones. I buy roasted macademia butter with no salt or butter.

    • @coenraed
      @coenraed Год назад +3

      old comment I know, but if you're paranoid about kidney stones, you can pretty much negate the effect of high oxalate foods by eating them together with a source of calcium. The calcium oxalate that would normally form in your kidneys will then precipitate in your stomach before the oxalate has a chance to be absorbed.

They were the only snack I ate ALL last week, and I still have 1/3rd of that pouch left. It only takes like 6 nuts to be full for hours. It's outrageous. Yesterday, a little handful easily took me from Boise to Pendleton with no hunger at all. I could annihilate 2 party-size bags of Cheetos in that distance and still feel hungry. The fat is the best part of macadamias, especially if you are on a very low carb diet because once you're in ketosis, that fat becomes your energy source... Counting calories is stupid.

    Very little protein in Mac nuts. Not true.

    Do any nuts have fewer calories and less fat and less salt? I like macadamia nuts.

      Don't worry about the healthy fats in macadamia nuts. And they contain almost zero salt/ sodium in their natural state. Keep eating nuts, they are extremely good for you. Worry about the rest of your diet instead ;)

    Not true about the fat. They have been proven to help you lose weight as your body doesn't use all the calories but they make you feel full

      Absolutely, I buy them in bulk and eat them almost everyday. If more people would take care of their bodies and exercise everyday they wouldn't be crying about too many calories.

    As a Californian my Ranking system would be slightly different, #1) In & Out, , 2) What a Burger, ( have had What A Burger 🍔 when I've been down in Dallas) 3) Burger King, 4) McDonald's and 5 Five Guys(because of the ALA carte style of their menu and how they charge for at least 2x as much for each individual item)
