  • I injure myself. It's not a big setback. After a few days I can nearly walk without a limp again lol.
The grass is 3 to 4 ft tall out of my cabin so I drive my Farmall M out to my property with my John Deere 265 loaded up in the back of the box.

Great video Jerry! I love the property you have. I sure could drink a lot of early morning coffee staring at Bigalow creek! Hope your leg is feeling better. Love the talk👍🏻👍🏻

Hope you will be okay. FWIW, we have some steep land/driveway/roads and I am always afraid the PARK isn't going to work on my F350 and the tractor - so I always turn the wheel (of the truck) and leave the tractor in gear, with the front (and/or) rear blade down.. better to be safe than sorry.

I'm doing much better thank you. Those are good tips. I got lazy. I parked on top thought "that will be a safe stop" lol. I park in neutral because this takes tinkering to start and I always start it on the ground. Bad habit. Before I hit the starter I double check the gearing to make sure it won't start in gear and run me over. I need to change this habit

Man o man you were lucky there. The possibility of the tractor doing damage to property or even you. I've had some sketch squeaky bum moment with machinery. Times where I've thought, man how did I get away with that one.
Good to see you only walked away with a light muscle injury. It could have been far worse for sure.
Stay healthy buddy and that was some mighty fine brush hogging with the ride on. Shame they don't make them like that anymore.

I was very lucky it didn't roll further and used the JD for a wheel chock. I'm glad it was the JD a modern rider would have folded in half. We know a guy whose farmall M did the same thing but it ended up crashing into a tree and snapping the rear Axel casting right off. Counting my lucky stars still.
I'm pretty healed up now and back to training lol

You left the M in neutral just to get out of dinner? Alway thinking aren’t ya lol.
Great stories , if I ever get out there Michigan way , I’d love to check out your places. Although I still haven’t made the 10 mile ride to see The Old Man and his Saw. Soon though.
….. glad it wasn’t either knee. , Terry

I leave it in neutral so I don't get run over when I start it lol. That dang John Deere just gave it a bit of a bump to send over the crest LoL. I'm on the mend but still limping. I'd love to meet Dave as well. Thanks Terry for the chuckle. Have a great weekend.

I still have the 18hp Bolens garden tractor that my parents bought in 1975, and I still have the 16hp Bolens that I 1984 that I paid $3700 for!!! They were actually built "too good" so that they would never wear out, and therefore never need to be replaced!! Now those need an occasional engine swap and they're good for a few more years, not like new mowers that are junk and wore out in 5 years!! Hope your calf is doing better, and the lesson should be that we are getting to old to intervene, and need to let things happen because we hurt ourselves otherwise!!

If everything was made to last we would be prosperous people. You're right about just let it go and see what happens. Deal with the aftermath later. I'm still limping around but much better than that day lol. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Have a great weekend.

I hate when I pull my calf feels like you’re someone is putting an ice pick in your leg. Luckily the JD acted as a wheel chock. Have a good weekend

      @BigelowWoodcraft  3 месяца назад +1

That's exactly what the JD did lol. Oh man, the snap every time scares the crap out of you. Then you realize your foot is still attached so you say, "carry on". Have a great weekend buddy

Oh boy the wife is gonna chew you out now. Sucks to be you when you get home limping along like an old man that thinks he is still in his 20s. Now that I think about it, I thought I heard an angry females voice far off to my west a few days ago. She isn't going to let you go out to play anymore if you keep that nonsense up. Best lay low and attack the honey do list for a week or so whilst you heal up. Then start out real slow. Like "honey I've got the dishes done can I go for an ATV ride out to the cabin?" Best ask real sweat and gentle like. You know, all the crap I just suggested doesn't work for me when I screw up. As the old saying goes, easier to get forgiveness than permission. I grew up running an old Super M TA. It had a belt pulley on it that we belted to an old Alice Chalmers silage blower. The silo was 60 feet tall and that M running full out would throw corn silage all day long and ask for more. We would load that AC blower till it was over flowing and hardly phase the M. Heck of a tractor for it's time. If you are still reading this long post then you need to get a life buddy 🤣😆

Damn I read the entire thing lol. My wife's last day of work after 34 years as a kindergarten teacher was yesterday. I have a honey do list a mile long lol.
I love hearing "old" people's story about their old tractors. Lol. I've never run mine with a belt attachment. I had the pull but not sure where it is now. Have a great weekend buddy.
