i watched this TWICE! First on my phone, then on the tv. Truly, a documentary!! You showcased a weeks worth of events in such an action packed video. From no wind, to crazy storms. From Dolphins to hanging with the Texas 200 crew. Seriously a great video all around!!
That was a hoot! I'm glad ya'll survived the storms, and Thunder Road took it head on..😂😅 I can't wait to see #11 in her first 200, that'd be awesome. Love what you're doing 😊
I had an aquarius 21 and that darn swing keel cable would fail often too. Sometimes I would wonder if a mermaid was untying the cable. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
That was a pretty rowdy brush with the storm on day 1 it was a totally different perspective from inside the Mariner versus down in Ziggy's Windrider. You guys are making it look good thanks for taking us along!
As always very thrilling to watch your 200 sailing journey, those storms makes my heart race. Happy to know you came through safely. Great video, thanks for sharing the journey.
I stumbled upon your video from your trip in 2023 about 9 months ago. That's when I first learned about the Texas 200 and I'm hooked. Great job and I hope to see you out there 2025
This looks like a lot of fun. I live in CO and decided to skip buying a smaller boat, and just save up for a full size cruiser. Really making me rethink grabbing a trailer sailor for cheap.
@@mikew3194 No joke, the best $800 I've ever spent. I slow poured more money into her over the years. 😂 No other boat like the 1st gen Mariners with the open cabin arch. It's a fiberglass tank too.
Fun,fun, fun! Glad you made it safe and sound. Ol’ Zig is quite the character 😊 Take care Hopefully me and the mister will have the opportunity to meet you next month.
Thanks for the video, well put together and lots of fun. I would love to be involved in such an event, not sure I could cope with the heat though, I am climatised to the north of Scotland 59°N. I am puzzled about the engine thing. You used it a few times to make progress. I thought it was a sailing race, so do you award yourself penalties for engine use, or is it largely about getting to the camp site in time for the grub. I have been involved in events where competitors self penalise, relying on “the code of gentlemen”. Maybe I have it wrong and it is not a race at all ,just some serious fun for a bunch of like minded sailers. Whatever it is, it is certainly lots of fun.
It's not a race, more of a 6 day traveling hang out/adventure. It's a really cool experience that makes me grow as a sailor each year. I'm working towards eventually doing the event single handed and without a motor because, that's where all of the bragging rights are found. 😅🤙⛵️
@@restrothunderroad I hear exactly what you are saying, right with you. I have done a good few races that could be better enjoyed as a cruise in good company.
ummm, if the land were far enough away, you could heave too. put the tiller to stbd, the sail to port, and she'll calm a bit, and stop making way, and pretty much swing a bit. It the same drill as raising sail, where you swing head to wind with the tiller and jib. you might need a small jib to do this, or reef points on your jib . Old days, before everyones' ass had rollers, the cutter rig was loved because you could reef the stay sail.
hove to wouldn't be a good idea in the icw, outside the very narrow channel it's only 1ft to 4ft deep full of rocks and shoals that love eating centerboards and rudders and propellers.
@@restrothunderroad I was thinking of the ICW on the east coast, espically south where you have to cross these big bays. Plenty of room there. In Georgia, most places, you might as well be at sea. So this proves again, local sailors know local waters. Something to remember. Thanks for the reply .
Yeah it's a 10hp, opened up all the way I'll get about 12 knots of speed. Can almost plank but not quite. haha Definitely has all power I'll ever need. ⛵️🤙
I was considering the Salish 100 since it is closer to me but their website has a "rainbow" blurb that preaches about my "privilege". I have no desire to spend a valuable week with people who think I should be ashamed of who I am and the color of my skin. For all my privilege I have sure had to work a lot of overtime for a lot of years to be able to afford a simple hobby. I hope I don't find that attitude when I check out the Texas 200.
Dam, I previewed like 30 seconds of this video and it Put me to sleep. Ive move on..sorry! you gotta change your video up where captures people's attention in ten seconds of preview
I’m sure the comment about the opening is facetious. I’ve seen all of your videos and this one is by far the best. Keep up the great work Brandon!

I truly love when you race your boat. Had alot of fun watching this!!!!😊

Looked a little bumpy there for a while brother, glad you made it safe

Good Job Brandon. Yeah we welcomed the light showers too. Bet you won't go down the ditch at Port O'Connor anymore! Gros Bec
Definitely staying out of the ditch from now on! I'm gonna bulletproof that centerboard and next year we're travelin light n shallow.
You have really gotten very good at putting these things together.. well done!!!!
Thanks, Jerry!
What a cool experience!
Awesome congratulations on your sailing abilities
Wow .. those barges come awfully close.
light air and no motor can get dangerous really quick.
Hi miss seeing you at Jason you be careful out there
HEY BRANDON, STAY SAFE OUT THERE AND GOOD LUCK.

See you there!
That was a well put together video. Congratulations on another successful Texas 200.
Thanks 🙏 for the Adventure loved 🥰 the video Brandon love 💗 from Ohio Irene and god bless
Fantastic video, Brandon. Makes me really sorry that I missed it this year (except for the day 1 storm).
Great travelogue! Sorry so much of it was under power. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome looking trip. Heck, that three hour delay for the buses didn’t seem all bad either.
And a Harstick sail!👍
happy sailing

Oh and I'm a total beach snob so that second camp area totally changed my perspective on Texas for worthwhile beaches.

Dude, great video... very nicely done.....
Fun,fun, fun! Glad you made it safe and sound.
Ol’ Zig is quite the character 😊
Take care

Excellent video Brandon! Awesome intro!
Great episode! You guys had some exitement 😂. Maybe I'll even go out to the boat and get a couple of things done....
do it!
Almost surreal.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your journey!
Thanks for showing us Aussies what the Texas 200 is all about. Is it a race? I am guessing not if you are allowed to motor when needed.
Cheers Bruce
more of a raid type event. haha
Man I would love to take a sunfish on a trip like that. Would be a wild ride.
Nice Brandon....you've got video skills!
Hey, thanks!
Beautiful 😍
Outstanding!
Absolutely awesome 😎 love you
This video reminds me of what my son said: “incompetence abounds”.
Makes it more fun that way. 😂
That first Hobie cat looked very low in the water

I didn't see either of the Chuck's, it's not a TX200 video if there are no Chuck's in it. : )
🤣
Dyneema doesn’t rust as easily
Any ducks out there this year?
Didn't see any this year.
Brandon, have you clocked your top speed with motoring? You’re running a 10hp, right?

what happened to the keel that was on the boat at purchase?
Different Mariner models, I have one fixed keel and another centerboard. 🤙⛵️
Hey man I plan to beat ya in the next tx200
