До чего же чистое, задушевное,сердечное,трогательное и безукоризно прекрасное исполнение… Очень живая и будто рождённая музыка… Браво им обоим! Спасибо и Вам! 16.03.2024.
So, so beautiful and touching! The best rendition of this piece. She has such amazing depth of tone and pace. I don’t have enough words of praise for Maria Grinberg. Such a fine artist ❤
She had a special affinity for Mendelssohn, I believe. Her recording of select Songs without Words (probably from the same LP as this) is incomparably beautiful.
That's my favourite version of this piece; is completely perfect, above all at 00:06, where she gets slower, AMD immediately reclame the same time with which was started. Never heard an interpretation better than that, brava!
Grindberg plays within the dimensional parameters of Mendelssohn, in other words she has an intelligent perception of the composers keyboard style. So many pianists turn the piece into a Lisztian display which becomes disproportionate and overblown. For me this is the best recorded version.
It is quite difficult to play that fantasy in a "deep" manner, which means giving to it all its sense beyond the piano virtuosity artifices. Maria Grindberg successes totally in meeting that difficult task.
I agree with other posts who says that this recording of Mendelssohn's Fantasy in F#- is the best. I especially value Maria Grinberg's tone and unfailingly artistic melodic line. Next in line for me is Anton Kuerti in his "Works of Mendelssohn" recording on Doremi, later provided by Naxos of America. His Fantasy in F#- avoids the over-pedalling and heavy "into the key" pianism of the later 19th century that some better-known pianists bring to this work. His style and technique are on a par with Grinberg
There was a trading ship that went out at sunset and returned at sunrise. One New Year's Eve, he was leaving the North Sea with a full load of Western musical instruments. The raindrops gradually froze, and the sea and the blizzard built a wall of intersecting glaciers. The ship couldn't move any further. Sailors suggested burning musical instruments to light a fire. Overnight, my toes and fingers were burning black. It will burn in the coldest fire. It is said that on a night when seals shine in the shrinking and shrinking ice hole, only the aurora brings forth a spring that pushes the surface of the ground up. The boy remembered an instrument he had seen during the day. He unwrapped the wrapped rag and started banging on the chimbalom. It was meant to be dedicated to the god-king, but the boy began playing the melody with a thin and tough birch twig, saying he couldn't freeze to death before reaching the palace. With her eyes tightly closed, as the notes with feathers of fire touched the North Star, the constellations melted away. As the light bouncing off the North Star cracked the ice, a group of narwhals spewed out white light. Music no one knew and no one had heard gave a blue light to the thirsty. White and red and blue lights showed the way between the waterways. Bones and joints came back to life and danced together. The smell of ooze, blood, and charred wounds were the gates to the land of the gods. The whistle from the bird's beak was the drink the gods gave and received, but the boy did not stop playing, thinking that it would still be very cold. As the air touching his skin became softer, the boy was reciting the last movement, telling the sun to drive away the clouds diligently. Eventually, the boy's excitement and destiny came to a halt with the sound of a rattling at the back door. When he opened his eyes, the boy seemed to have escaped from a thawing dream. Why the hell am I drooling like this? Where is this? I asked, but no one answered. No, I couldn't answer. The boy was burying himself in a book in a shipwreck without an instrument. The stiffly stuck covers of books were looking at the boy. Later, Sori's bones were mined here. ..
music has always been a business...it was a business even back in the days of Mozart/Beethoven and of course, during the days of Paganini and Liszt. while people back then enjoyed classical music (since a lot of them are rich elitists), the masses today are the middle class and advertisement and promotions are only for crappy music that everyone finds tonally sensical and catchy. classical music is still probably listened to by old/wealthy families but that's about it.

What a delicious sound this artist was able to generate, and with such clarity and articulation!

What a beautiful interpretation!!

A wonderful splendid version of this fantasy.
It seems that Mendelsohn whispered into her heart how to perform the first part
Excellent piano playing! Very beautiful interpretation and unbelievable finger dexterity!!!
This piece is heavily underrated!!!
Indeed. I consider it one of Mendelssohn's most significant piano pieces, and yes; far more so than the oft played Variations Serieuses.
Some good Musicians played...
What a fantastic work - and really great playing - this is my first time hearing this piece - thank you.

Never heard an interpretation better than that, brava!
Very intense and music very much reflected upon by the artist, it seems to me. Less romantic but more of genuine playing. I really loved it at once.
Wonderful playing. I love this piece.

thank you , , , ,
one's again ;.. what very good and strong playing and what a special woman......!
Bravo! The beginning theme sounds like heavy rain drops knocking on the ground.
Thanks for uploading!
Wonderful !!!
Mendelson 's Absolutely her Composer! BRAVO Everywhere!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
"Scottish Sonata" !
WOW! Passionate Mendelssohn!! Why is he so often underplayed?

Not difficult if you think of it orchestrally. This piece is strongly orchestral in character.
