This is the number 13 of Schubert's sonatas. It was most certainly written in 1819 (Schubert was 22) as a tribute to Josephine von Koller, who invited him for vacation. The character is neither tragic nor careless. It is bucolic with some touchs and moments of melancholy. This specific mood makes it difficult to interpret convincingly. M. Grindberg succeeds perfectly in that difficult task. It is a GREAT rendering that we have here. .

This performance had me in tears. No other performance better conveys the darker elements in this sonata, on the cusp of the late sonatas. Yet it is done without overburdening the sunnier aspects of this work. A wonderful performance.

An impeccable awareness of the music's demands on skill and interpretation.

Wunderschöne live Aufführung dieser perfekt komponierten Klaviersonate im lyrischen Tempo mit anmütigem Anschlag und sorgfältig kontrollierter Dynamik. Wirklich unvergleichliche Pianistin!
