I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it further guys. I tried my hardest. In this game I over prioritized not dying and as you'll see, I didn't die...
I also played to the expectation that Synn the Dark would play to win which as you'll see, was a fatal error.

As someone who played in chess tournaments regularly I love the insight into another strategic game that involves more than two players. Do you ever notice even skilled players let the emotion of being attacked by another person sacrifice proper strategy?
I've seen a couple of his videos before, I can't say how common it is but it has happened before.
All the time!
Sometimes people attack you in anticipation of the proper “strategic” move which is why emotional plays can be often justified as it can act as a deterrent
You should have a heart rate monitor going on during these games that shows up on the screen, it'd be interesting to see the difference in early, mid, and late game

No spectating there. Once a player hits 70% the win condition is met and the game ends.
Round 1 was recommended to me for so long and I never watched it cause I've played risk maybe 3 times in my life and I thought watching it would be boring. For some reason one day I watched it and now I'm invested, while tournament has been very enjoyable to watch.

I was looking for some Risk Gameplays, i recently bought the board game (havent played the game), and i asked youtube for some guidance about how to play and gameplays, and it showed me some channels, but... when i got into this one, i was impressed... But, my real amazement is that risk has become like chess! Rightly so btw the tactics are not easy and pro risklooks different then amateur - the hallmark of a sport. Which also exploded lately! So nice to see everyone just going for their biggest desire…

Just found this channel and Im fascinated! I love Risk and you really give great insight Pete! Question...is there a way to attack that quickly on mobile? I struggle to string together long attacks on multiple locations with any speed. Thank you for your work!

Hey well played really enjoyed watching this tourney, shame there was no game 7, but it was a great watch. I haven't played risk in year. When you said he slow rolled and lost troops, do you mean he rolled only one or 2 dice as the attacker so as not to have to move in a 3? or is there some adjusted dice rolls in the game? I might start playing again. Gratz on making the semi final!
I did air game seven but yeah, did not make the finals.
A slow roll is when you toggle blitz off and roll the dice one at a time.

Hey Pete great channel. You’ve probably answered this elsewhere but why do you always like being red and were there ever times when someone denies you when you request it?
Historically I like red because it's threatening. In public competition I actually prefer white for the opposite reason.
But I'm not super hung up on which colour I have to use.
Except yellow.

Really surprised you did not take the north room at the top from the start with only 2 attack/defend points next to each other.
It's possible that's why I lost.

Why did you only play to 70% of the board and not pick/fortify territories at the start of the game? Is it just a time thing?
I'm gathering that "fish" means next to die/easy target, but where did it come from?

I haven't finished the game I'm watching the beginning. At the 8:20 mark you show the values and I'm wondering why you didn't go for the north island. When you made the choice I only saw 10 enemy material in that area with you having 3-2 stacks connecting then your material. I'm just curious why you went with that choice over the north Island. You also might of won this all. But I wanted to see your thought process in that moment if you can remember what happened that far back. Thanks and enjoying the games.
I definitely can't remember but we all make mistakes so maybe this is one of them.
@@TheKillPeteStrategy Watching the game play out I think you would of done better on the top island. But "Tim" did have an incredible lucky run that allowed him to win so even this might not have mattered. Just the way your material was at the start if you go North instead of south you would of been able to consolidate more positions with less moves, Which could of been a factor that leads you to the Championship game. Hindsight is 20/20 though. I just think it was a missed opportunity and wanted to see if there was reason behind the move.

The win condition in 70% domination is when anyone takes 70% of the board the game ends.

You can see stats in unranked and play with friends. Not ranked anymore.
wait.... why didnt ya take the island from green at the endish of the match since purple would have to strike green to also not lose thus putting both of ya vs green and then its 1v1
