Undoubtedly one of the best videos ever made about Over The Garden Wall. I loved the video for every detail from the voice telling to the subjects presented and mostly the connection between the psychology and Wirt and his Hero's journey. Thank you for this beautiful masterwork
The fact that OTGW features a lot of Jungian archetypes (Woodsman being the Hermit, Wirt being the Explorer, Greg being the Fool, Beatrice being the the High Priestess, Endicott and Margueritte representing the Lovers, and so on) only supports this theory. One little detail that wasn't mentioned in your analysis and would be justified to highlight is the fact the brothers spent much more time in the Unknown than it was implied to have passed "in the real world", it correlating perfectly with the fact that space and time are relative in the unconscious. I really wish your interpretation was much more popular since it has more weight to it than the whole "adaptation of Dante's Inferno" stretch. To me, the sole reason why OTGW has so many references to Dante's Inferno is easily explained with Wirt's love of poetry. These are images and symbols that impacted him the most and became part of his internal symbolism, these are the manifestations that are most easiest for him to process. Furthermore, since Dante's Inferno describes Date's personal journey of individuation, it's no wonder that people tend to see parallels between these stories. They describe similar phenomena while being two independent works of art.
@@crispyairplane I did indeed. Admittedly, a solid 50% of the psych terms and topics flew a bit over my head but I was still entertained. Here's a tip though, lower the volume of the backing track a bit and or speak a little louder
Great video, I think your voice could be louder in comparison to the music though. Like a straight level swap or whatever would be perfect.
Yeah, I didn’t catch that in my play through prior to posting. I’ll definitely make sure to be aware of that in the future

That’s a great point about the relativity of space and time! And I totally agree about the Dante interpretation.
