I was SO EXCITED about Lakeburg Legacies and actually just got a gaming PC partially because I wanted to play it. I started reading reviews on Steam and decided not to get it. I'll wait for it to be on sale 😢
It’s such a shame that there is just one thing that ruined the game! They could tweak it to make it better because the village management part is actually fun.
One one of the things I found about Graveyard Keeper which I have played for hundreds of hours in two playthroughs, is that I would spend many in game days concentrating on one task. In all other games I would even things out more. Go fishing or mining when raining, do crops every day in morning, etc. in GK I would spend days on mining sleeping in my cabin, days chopping wood. I wouldn't even do bodies for a month. Then that is all I would do. At first it seemed weird to ignore certain tasks for a long time but I think because there are so many tasks it made more sense. That way I wasn't wasting a lot of travel to keep up with bodies or something. About the only thing I did regularly was church. Just hearing you mention it makes me want to start another playthrough.
Honestly same! There is so much to do in that game that it’s impossible to have “dailies.” Plus so many of the quests are just one part of like a 20 part saga haha. It’s such a good game though-I am kind of obsessed with it.
I could totally see cozy grove being like that for people! That was a game I was hoping would fill the hole animal crossing left- it didn’t. I did enjoy the game though- but it definitely wasn’t as good as animal crossing.

I’m glad you could relate! I have so many games that I put hours into and then just stopped- sometimes I go back, sometimes I don’t. It doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy all of them. When I do find a game that really sucks me in I’m so happy! This has happened to me this year with Dredge, sun haven, and graveyard keeper. I’m fully addicted to those 3!
I tried Roots of Pacha and I also just kind of got bored of it. Not sure what happened; The traveling was a PAIN but wasn't the root cause for me. My brain just told me I was done lol. New subscriber!
I want to play Bear and Breakfast, but the controls (on switch) are a damn pain. I put it down for a long time because of the crashing and bugs. Recently picked it back up, the cooking... the cooking literally made me rage quit. I was trying to follow everything I was reading online and could STILL not figure it out. Funny you mentioned Graveyard Keeper as it has just come on my radar today! I thought it was a steam only game.
@@thecozyintrovert I'm wondering if the grindyness will be too much for me, although I feel like that's a bit par for the course in cozy games. I'm gunna wait for a sale on Switch and pick it up though!
I really like Roots of Pacha. It got me into playing farming sims. I think my favourite part is when you complete the prophecies (which is the ending of the main storyline). By that point I still didn't even have irrigation, which was less ideal. But I have to say that despite me liking the fishing game I still have done it the least. I have had a while I mainly focused on the caves and getting all the plants and cooking the dishes. Now it's getting rare animals. I'm trying completionist style play trhough but I suspect in might not be happening because I've now also started both Ooblets and Moonstone Island and there's some story based and puzzle games with spooky theme I wanna play in October. There seems to be a part in cozy games where I get kinda bored of it and then, after a while I want to play it again. It happened in Littlewood, Cozy Grove, Potion Permit, and Roots of Pacha. But after a while that goes away again. I have this feeling it has to do with progression too. I can take really long to unlock tool upgrades you need to make certain things feasable to do. Sometimes you can't get certain resources until you have that specific tool. And I Roots of Pacha you needed to complete that smithy thingy specifically to get the first tool upgrades and you needed to have the tools in the first place before you could upgrade them. Makes sense, but it can be really slow. And Potion Permit is probably the grindiest game I've played. Really enjoyed it, but the money and ingredient grinds could be really tedious.
I am like that too with a lot of games. I’ll be hyper fixated on it for a week or two then put it down for awhile and then hyper fixate again hahaha. I do that with the Sims and have for 20+ years with that one. Animal Crossing too I will go in cycles!
I currently have 17 hrs on Lemon Cake, and down to the last 2 upgrades, plus the bedroom upgrades, and I find it interesting how people receive it differently. I spoke highly and enthusiastically about it to my sister-in-law, and played again a day after, and thought to myself, "what if it's too repetitive and grindy for her and she doesn't like it?" but in my opinion, I do really love it. The challenge is deciding the menu and then holding your breath knowing that it's gonna be a tough day because of long bake times or too many ingredients/ingredients from the greenhouse. I fail to always keep my window display stocked at a certain point after the lunch rush, but I've never failed or missed orders. Maybe I like it though because I grew up playing Diner Dash, which was even less rewarding, but all about getting through the day and (hopefully) completing expert goal instead of the regular goal. I think some people are just junkies for that type of thing lol but I definitely agree, and I have yet to find a cozy game that's everything to me. Imo, Animal Crossing is THE #1 ideal game for me, if only it weren't in real time. I time skipped a lot, but I never even progressed far in terms of island aesthetics because it was so annoying to, too.
It's so true! I know a lot of people who enjoy all of these games! I could totally see how time would move slow for someone in animal crossing- I know that people feel the same way about cozy grove too, they just want to play and not be forced to wait until the next day. That is completely understandable. Anyway, thank you so much for watching!!
If you haven't tried Dinkum I'd recommend checking it out, because it's similar to Animal Crossing in some ways but it's essentially a 3D sandbox where you move in characters, farm, fish, catch bugs, mine, and craft :DD
I know it's not a farming game but sea of stars has the best fishing minigame. But mini game activities like cooking needs to be a conversation in these games because after they added crafting they overdid it -- so many did a clunky job with it. It's weird because I felt like rune factory did a decent job and that was a decade ago
I got Lemon Cake as part of a bundle. I thought it would be one of the things I would enjoy the most, and it was absolutely one of the worst in the selection. The pacing was painful. the UI was frustrating and clunky, and the margins of error were extremely minuscule for things going wrong and getting penalized for it.
It's always so disappointing when a game you expect to love turns out to be a dud hahaha. I hope you, at least, got to enjoy the other games in the bundle!
Have you heard of Dredge? It’s all fishing. Yes, it’s technically horror and I believe the story follows that theme, but you can turn the monsters off with passive mode if you’re a scaredy cat like me.
I agree with your views about all of these games. Confession: I still haven’t played Dredge , yet. I know that’s a favorite of yours. Purchased it at least a month ago.
i actually don’t hate the fishing mechanic in fae farm. i feel like it’s a lot clearer about how to actually catch the fish than in stardew where i can never figure out what i’m supposed to do to catch the fish so i just don’t bother at all
That’s so funny how everyone’s perceptions are different about that kind of stuff. My annoyance toward it is basically just my impatience. The mechanic itself is probably solid- it just takes too long for me lol
personally i hated lemon cake..it felt like it was meant to be a mobile but was put on pc instead and it just wasn't very fun and i couldn't even have fun for an hour so i got a refund for it off steam but like i think the base idea could have been good but the way they did it made it kinda bleh for me
I recently started Sun Haven and I love it so far! I was thinking about getting Roots of Pacha but I'm not sure. I know people complain about the size of Sun Haven but I actually really love it. I was so happy when the game gave me more stuff to do and grind haha. I'm enjoying taking my time with it.
I only hate them when the fishing is annoying (which does seem like more often than not lol). Right now I have a bone to pick with fae farm’s fishing mechanic. 🤣🤣 and thank you for watching!!!
I tried Lakeburg Legacies, it feels like a watered down version of Kitty Powell's matchmaking game. But what really put me down was the forced progression. Why does it needed to be linear with random citizens. Either get one or another, what's the point of being it linear if i have to reroll constantly to get the fitting candidate for the buildings i have
It’s honestly such a let down too because this game seemed like it would be so good! I wish they’d make some QOL updates to make it better…but I don’t think that’s happening…
I had the same issue with Lakeburg Legacies. At least I bought it on sale. The dating just got so old. I didn't notice much difference in the management-focused setting, either. Right now, I'm trying a session where I ignore the dating for the most part. Hopefully, that will help.
Yeah I am not sure what that setting even did- the gameplay was exactly the same. If they would make a patch that has an auto match feature I would play it again.
Hi, I was wondering if you played Spiritfarer if yes, what do you think about the fishing style? I personnaly loved it and thought it was similar to Potion Permit (lil longer but also loved it). I like the fishing style in Stardew but also hate it af not relaxing to me xD. So felt really pleased with both games. Then I recently thought that the Fae Farm fishing style was similar to both wich make me bit more wanting the game. BUT I tought to me "To hate something like that,(the fishing here) there must be something I'm missing out " ?! 😄 May I ask you what are thoughts or the diffs between them ? After all, since for example you enjoy Stardew's fishing style more than me maybe it is just a diff taste Thank you for sharing your experience and feelings🌷
I actually have played spirit farer! I played it in 2020 on pc. For some reason I feel like I didn’t mind the fishing in that one even though it is like Fae Farm- honestly, my biggest memory of that game was crying a lot 🤣🤣 I feel like the reason fae farm’s is worse in my mind is because sometimes it takes so long to reel in a fish. Honestly my favorite fishing mechanic is animal crossing’s, I also love Palia’s, I have grown to not mind stardew and graveyard keeper now that I’ve gotten better at that style. I think my biggest thing is I want to catch a lot of fish when I go out fishing so I don’t want to spend 45 seconds reeling in a fish.
@@thecozyintrovert Oh I see ! 🤣 Makes more sence now. Well it's all about feeling I guess, I don't remember it was that long on these games either (spiritfarer & potion p) I get the point now get it better. Also love animal's crossing one and I'll discover fishing in Palia today😋Thank you very much for taking your time to reply. I apreciate it a lot. ☺🌹
Great video. I think we have a lot of over-positivity in the cozy community, so it's refreshing to see someone honestly saying they didn't enjoy a game.
Thank you! Plus, we tend to do a lot of "first impression" reviews, then after we play for awhile we realize our thoughts have changed. I definitely gave Lakeburg Legacies great reviews and then changed my mind after having time to sit down the play it, that's when all the annoying stuff starts popping up.
I actually did the demo of Lakeburg Legacies. I normally don't like management sims but I wanted to give this one a try because of the romance. I had a hard time with the management part and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Plus the lack of char interaction (yes I know there are scenarios, but it didn't feel 'intimate' because it didn't feel like a story). So yeah I knew quickly I wouldn't enjoy this game, but I did appreciate the fact that there was a demo. I haven't played the other games. I did think about getting Roots of Pacha at some point, but I heard about the NPCs not being too great and good romance for me is mandatory for a game like this (it's one reason why I am not getting Fae Farm). So hi, I am a new sub and I love fishing in a farm sim, so I am curious what games have you played where you did enjoy the fishing? I've yet to play a game where I dislike the fishing, but I haven't gotten a whole of games with that mechanic either. Coral Island's fishing mechanic is the 'weakest' in my opinion just because you can get too strong of fish right off the bat and at times you have to get lucky to get the hard fish and I hate relying on that. But that's not common though and for the most part the fishing is fine. Bug catching is worse though (I've resorted to using bug traps you can craft). Now as far as games I don't play anymore, the big one is actually Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I played that game everyday for 2 years (Final Update and DLC included) and I got burnt out. My biggest issue was the time mechanic, and I felt like the game would punish me if I took breaks. So while I had a lot of fun at times, doing the same thing over and over got to me and I deleted my whole file (which did hurt). Also I have no plans to get another AC game or any game that uses real time mechanic (it's one reason why I won't get Disney Dreamlight Valley). I do hope that Palia doesn't use that mechanic either. I don't want to plant something and come back to find it dead. Edit- OH another game I dropped was Rune Factory 5. I was so into it at first, but like how you felt about Roots of Patcha, I felt about this- the pacing is SLOW! It take over an hour for a day to go by. Plus the gameplay wasn't that great when it came to farming and it got repetitive very quickly with not enough variety, which is sad because I love the chars and story. But at the end of the day, if I don't enjoy the gameplay, I am going to drop the game.
I’m glad you got to try the demo and decided it wasn’t for you before you bought it- some people have commented how they actually played the demo and didn’t realize they didn’t like it until after they bought it. As far as fishing info like- I have a long history of complaining about fishing in games lol- but I do like animal crossing’s fishing, sun haven’s, and as much as I joke about hating the fishing in stardew, it’s honestly not that bad. I am addicted to graveyard keeper, which has a similar mechanic to stardew, and so I’ve gotten used to it and I’ve improved. I also like Palia’s fishing- I didn’t at first, but it’s definitely a good one now that’s I’ve been playing for awhile. I have to say I am surprised at how many people have told me they don’t like animal crossing/cozy grove’s real time clock. That actually shocks me! I can totally see where you guys are coming from though. I have been playing Palia and it is not a real time clock. Each day takes one hour of real life time. They have not made any mention of doing that. I feel it’s the perfect amount of time to get things done and it pretty much guarantees you’ll be there for a full cycle so you won’t keep missing the same stuff. Anyway, thank you for watching and welcome to the channel!
@@thecozyintrovert Well I think one reason why I like fishing in gaming, it's because it's a LOT more enjoyable than REAL fishing lol. I come from a family of fishers and as a kid I did it A LOT but my brother had way more luck than me and I just got tired of waiting for the fish to bite lol. So the very first game I played with fishing in it (I think it was a Bass Pro game from the 90s when I was a teen), I was shocked on how easy it was to catch fish in it and have enjoyed the mechanic ever since.
@@thecozyintrovertI stopped playing ACNH due to the clock. Was very bothersome and now that I think this must be why cozygrove hasn’t drawn me in. I got it on sale and just meh
It’s so sad that it ruined the game! I would go back if they tweaked it and made an option where you can auto match and just focus on the village management.
@@thecozyintrovert SO many games would be 100% better if they'd just add auto-features to some of their more redundant and tedious mechanics. I'd definitely take a small hit to success because I didn't do it manually. Being forced to take photos with your phone is just too much. It kicks you out of the immersion of the game!
ON POINT ABOUT LAKEBURN ARE MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY. I was so bored of the love mechanics and I was taking picture to get it correct. It really was a turn off.
Bear and breakfast was such a disappointment to me. In theory it's such a nice game but it just wasn't fun somehow. I also played it on the switch and the controls were AWFUL. Especially the cooking mechanic was horrible and as cooking got more important, I stopped playing the game. But I just didn't like it enough to buy it again for pc.
I wish I hadn’t gotten Bear and Breakfast on switch because the button mapping is awful and there is input lag ,,, very weird ,, I liked it for an hour thinking I’d get use to the buttons but I just couldn’t do it and uninstalled , I wish I could’ve refunded
This thumbnail is me with Genshin Impact, Let it die, Deathverse, Onigiri, PWI, RS, WoW, Mabinogi, They all just.... zzzz after a few months for me. I'll be addicted for the first while..
Sadly, there are a lot of games that just lose their luster after a bit- sometimes you might go back eventually and other times you’ll never pick it back up again! I’ve actually heard that about genshin before, specifically.
A game I love but get so bored of is Spiritfarer. It's so gorgeous, I love the basebuilding and sailing mechanics, but I get bored playing it because there's no real freedom in what you explore next. I wish the game were open world, but each character meeting and most events/destinations happen in the same order so the story progresses a specific way. It makes the more tiresome mechanics of the game (mining, logging, farming) seem even slower with the whole game on rails. I'll probably try and finish it someday, but I'm curious if anyone feels the same.
I could totally see that being the case with spirit farer! That is how I felt with bear and breakfast- like it had all the mechanics to be an open world management sim, but it was more like a linear game with not much freedom at all!
I wanted to like lemon cake because it’s so cute. I couldn’t figure out why I stopped playing it, but you explained it pretty well.

I feel the same about roots of pacha. I played it for 40 hours. I forced myself to finish the main story. 😢
I totally relate to that! The games I’ve suffered through just to finish the main story line lolol I almost did that with roots of pacha!
Absolutely inspiring and incredible video👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh I got lakeburg legacies, tried it for a couple hours and never went back. Yeah screw that dating mechanic.
Haha I love that we were all taking photos just to get through it! That became so annoying though too. They need to make an auto match feature!
I feel you on the bear and breakfast- we all had such high hopes for it 😭 and I can’t even imagine how bad that cooking was on the switch.
I wish I hadn’t gotten Bear and Breakfast on switch because the button mapping is awful and there is input lag ,,, very weird ,, I liked it for an hour thinking I’d get use to the buttons but I just couldn’t do it and uninstalled , I wish I could’ve refunded
Oh no that sucks!!! Was it on the switch??? I really hope the switch 2 of real because there are so many games that are unplayable on it!
I was so exicted for fae farm and disney dreamlight valley. Both of those I lost interest so quickly.
I am glad to hear someone else lost interest in fae farm! I feel like everyone is obsessed with it and I feel like I’m the only one lol
@@thecozyintrovertI’m slowly losing interest too. It’s cute and all but idk
Quietly taking some games off my wishlist🤣
Lol!
