Sweeden's songs are always amongst my favorite ones in Eurovision. They have a thing for europop that sets them apart from the rest. I remember 2003's "Fame". Amazing.
Gwisemua Norway 2004 was written by Swedes for the swedish national final. It didn't go very well. Have a look on RUclips, he took part in Stjernekamp in Norway. That lad can do so much!!!!
Sweden also produced some of the best metal bands like Meshuggah, In flames, At the gates etc. Thats what happens if you combine a wealthy welfare state with the boredom of a mostly rural/small town country which leads to creativity
People made fun of this song at the time for being one of the most stock songs Sweden ever sent, and it remains that way. It was hilarious when Norway only gave it 2 points and the crowd was in too much disbelief to react. Yet it still finished in 5th place with 100 points, but no 12s.
Listen the japanese version of this song. It's very accurate and it's the opening of an anime called Di Gi Charat Nyo. If you love this song, then you may like the anime.
I absolutely agree! In my favorites: Sweden 2000: When spirits are calling..., Sweden 2006: Carola, Sweden 2008: Charlotte. I love most of the Swedish songs. Only the years 2001 and 2003 are forgetable
This came before the Japanese version. ;) And they do credit the Swedish song writers in the opening credits of Digi Carat Nyo. ;) This group - Friends - won the Swedish national selection with this song in Swedish (Lyssna till ditt hjärta). But they translated it into English to perform at the Eurovision song contest in 2001. :)
Melodifestivalen is coming on Saturday so I’m listening to as much old school Mello as possible and out of all the songs I play, this is the closest Sweden will ever get to ABBA
it sucks Anna didn`t compete this year... but swedish song writers wrote alot of songs for ESC this year. but yeah. my music teacher plays in the same "band" as one of the guys in friends:) lots of love sweden
All swedish songs have had good places in the Eurovision sung in swedish or in English especially abroad .loreen or Carola are very good examples for the women,Benjamin ingrosSo or Mans zelmerlow for the men.
Exactly, I remember when this song won 2001 as our song for Eurovision 2001, the band is quite well known around here, though not a favourite. Anyway, I had no idea there was a cover, going to listen. (This is so scary when they make cover of B-song Melodifestivalen hits)
Yup, Belgium freaked out when they heard this song in the contest, since they sent a song in 1994 (or 1995, can't remember) that had practically the same music.
The "stick" in the beginning is similar, but after this it´s just a little alike.Good singing though from Lisa del Bo. But I have to greet all people in the party Vlamse Belang from their brotherparty in Sweden-Sverigedemokraterna.
Some notes are similar to "liefde is een kaartspel', but everybody are getting ideas from eachother. There are few songs who are without influences. They are both from Västergötland. The inhabitants called "gauti-goths" by Tacitus the roman historian. Original name 'gautar' or *gautans. The goths probably didn´t come from here. The inhabitants were probably called *gapt, 'gepidi' in plural in the roman empire. They could have,(Ingemar Nordgren), given goths idea about weaponless graves.
Serena espesially the chours. The verses are a mix from Abba-songs, take me to your heaven, the intro to chours are recht up in de wind, dutch entry from 1987..... they sing like Abba. All in all a nice and catchy copy-mix-mess!
Some said that it has been copied from a belgian song from the nineties. In fact most of Roxettes songs has been takened from 'Liefde is een kartspiel'.. Just joking..
Often songs sounds similar to each other. I haven´t heard the belgian song. But it´s possible it sounds as this one. I think it´s unavoidable that songs off and then are inspired by other songs. Composers gets various inspirations from everything they remember. I am from Sweden and definitely like Belgium. It´s a fascinating mix of Vallons and Flemish people.
It's just a short part that sounds similar. But there was another song that was VERY similar. This song might have been a copy of that one. Don't remember the title, it was a less known artist.
I wonder if there is a connection between Västergötland and Poland. I know a polish nurse from Lund that looks exactly like Nina Inhammar, I mean exactly like her-copy.
This song is from digi charat! And stop arguing about Eurovision! Every country who gets through is good? Therefore they all did well to even get through! XxX
Has anyone noticed how Sweden sent very similar songs every year from 1999 to 2006? They won with Charlotte's schlager song, and they went on with the same formula for almost a decade lmao
First line from Angel eyes chorus yes correct. I still like the Friends song but it should of not gone through as there was an issue with the Belguim song too. So it ended as an embarrassment for SVT.
Di Gi Charat!!!
So powerful & beautiful voice!!
This is still great!!
Glad to see i’m not the only person that stumbled across this from Di Gi Charat lol
Amazing entry from Belgium!
It really sounds like 1996 lol
@@fyr_og_flamme_vasil Not even close!
Nuts!
Belgium 1996 is such a nice song wow!

of course 1974 started it all from Sweden...
Sweden also produced some of the best metal bands like Meshuggah, In flames, At the gates etc. Thats what happens if you combine a wealthy welfare state with the boredom of a mostly rural/small town country which leads to creativity
If it was sung in Dutch it would have finished in 16th place
🇧🇪 1996
Reminds an little of the song "The winner takes it all" - Abba 🤗
I luuv, luuv, luuv this song and friends❤️

This received a maximum of 10 from Denmark, and five 8s (including all three Anglophone countries, 🇬🇧🇮🇪🇲🇹)
Liefde is een kaartspel.... :) :) :)

The Winner Takes It All
Or Take Me To Your Heaven which won for Sweden anyway.

It sounds swedish it's called dansband
いい歌だよねー☆
Why they didn't win? This is really good.
bcs it's a copy of Belgium's entry in 1996
It's insane! It's almost 1 on 1, but make it ABBA! 😂
PLAGIAT Belgium 1996
Sounds somewhat like ABBA's "Angel Eyes".
And the winner takes it all
De kom och sjöng för oss i lumpen 2003...mitt i skogen. Något shockande....100 man med hakan vid knäskålarna :D
Sounds like winner takes it all
Yup, same chords
Seems like that's the song that G:son likes to take inspiration from... (Loreen's Tattoo also starts by sounding like Winner takes it all)
Abba amazing
Still listening in 2016 & loving it! From Russia with love
My winner!!
Great Song
Like 1996 Belgium ESC :)

It similar to Belgiums song, but it's not the same.
It literally almost is LOL
MrCossack4
This is very Abba-esque
With a touch of roxette thrown in like (listen to your heartbeat) & roxette's (listen to your heart)
that´s a good question, there are a lot of songs I would like to download, but I often find nothing- I will tell you if I should find anything!
This is basically an ABBA song with the lyrics changed
It is just beginning who is similar to 'life is a cardgame', the flemish extraordinary song.
jag saknar eran musik och framträdande
It is seriously one of the best and most powerfull ESCsongs I've ever heard, even though it's a copy from a belge song...
They were definitely inspired by Steps for this one. Love it.
i like it :) i just discover the song 2 minutes ago:)
It’s an exact copy of Belgium 1996 Eurovision entry. It sounds EXACTLY the same!
I know. It’s identical. I can’t believe it how they got away with this
And Belgium 1996 Eurovision entry is also an copy of ABBA's Angeleyes.
This song reminds me of Di Gi Charat Nyo anime opening.. I feel old as fk listening to this
nyo nyo? what is this song nyo? why is it so good nyo?

This was in 2001? It sounds like a song from the 1980's...
It's schlager.
The synth arps are the best.

Well, the japanese version is a bit versioned, but this is the original, but Belgium said this was a copy from the Belgium song for Eurovision 96
They are both from Västergötland, original homeland of gepidi. Gaut-gapt-gepidi
IT IS TRUE! Someone paid attention to this. This really is a rip-off of the eurosong of Belgium in 1996! Liefde is een kaartspel.

Fair enough but without some indication that you were joking how are we to know?
Well, as far as I have investigated the Sweden version was first (2001), and then came the Japanese version in 2003.
The Belgian one was the first one (1996), and this version stole it.
@@DonkeykongSw2 What's the name of that version?

Sweden 1999 and 2001 channeling their inner ABBA.

George Austin Tay cos they want to sound Abbayish
This is ”dansband” it`s been around for ever.
George Austin Tay Perrelli was so much better than these!
And they've been doing the same after Måns' victory, same entry 4 years in a row.
Because it is quite a popular style in Sweden. Since the early 80's
Sorry about the excagerations in the discussion.
2003, was it then they had a song with a made-up language? I remember that I liked it very much.
" Last Christmas I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away "
Shame on you, Sweden.
