408 with a super victor, atm carb, offset bushings and a flat dual plenum style air cleaner. Still very close to rubbing with my 2.5" cervini cowl.
Currently debating putting 9.5 in my Capri. Hood clearance is definitely a concern with the 2.5” cowl hood I have.
Good info, enjoy the time and effort to help the next guy!
There's a guy on the Corral that sells cut spacers that are a direct fit for the box r spacer. I purchased a 3/8 spacer from him and it helped hood clearance tremendously
395 with bmp intake, 1.5” spacer…I’m really hoping it fits…I’ve got a 4” cowl so it should…I’ll cut a hole in it if i have to 😂 very cool video though…I’m getting close to dropping mine in. It’s nice to see these tips before I get to that point. I appreciate it!
Hell ya !
I just put a 351w in my 2000 gt. With stock hood I have about 1/2 inch of hood clearance lol. I thought about cutting a hole under the scoop to keep the stock look but not sure if I wanna keep stock hood or not
On my 89 GT I have a 351W with a Down's box style intake with a stock hood on the car; however, all of the central reinforcement has been removed and an opening added beneath an 82' GT hood scoop on the car in which the box style intake sits up inside. Those offset bushing are key to keeping the rack off of the oil pan and are a pain in the butt to accomplish after the fact because of the deeper front sump on the oil pans preventing easy removal. On my car to keep from having to lift the motor, we drove the rack sleeves back through the stock crossmember in order to be able to change out the leaking rack and install the offset bushings.
Thx for sharing
How much rroom does the solid motor mounts give you over the stock mounts? Also, how tall is your hood and do you think that an Edelbrock RPM air gap intake with a carb clear a 2½" cowl hood or the stock '82 forward facing scoop over the hole on a 4 eye? Thanks for the informative videos!
It will be close for sure.
I have an 85 with a 393. Knockoff air gap dual plane. Poly bushings and stock k member with 7qt pan and factory rack. I cannot close the stock hood with an filter at all. I'm hopefully picking up my cowl hood this week. With my setup it's still going to be close with the air filter. May have to mess with drop filter bases and filter height to clear the cowl. Think there is a big drop base that was on an older corvette that can be utilized if it doesn't mess with the throttle linkage. Already bought k and n top filter plate to increase flow if I have to run a shorter air filter.
I've got a 351w under my stock 86 gt hood with super charger, efi carb style intake, and 4 barrel throttle body.
Ya so the EFI carb style will still fit under a stock hood? I had figured that. Drop mounts and rack bushings?
@@Neomustangs stock 302 prothane motor mounts and stock rack and bushings. Just clears the sway bar. I'll throw a picture of it over on your Facebook.
Not a Windsor but I do have 351 Cleveland in my 80 coupe ✊🏽
Nice !
Sweet! That’s even better!
I got my 351w under stock hood with vert mounts, factory dual snorkel air cleaner and a SpeedMaster dual plane intake. I cut the bracing from the center of the stock steel hood and put washers between the hood and the hinges. I also cut down the wing nut. The lid of the dual snorkel rests on the bottom of the hood, but it closes.

This is definitely helpful my original plan was to swap heads and intake to the 351 and i run the same box r you run
great video, 93 coupe soon getting a 410w. Thanks for all the content you give...Dan your the man
Thx man
You’re running a tubular k member which isn’t helping your situation with the ps rack. I ran a stock k member for along time. I used off set rack bushings to lower the rack down. I was running the Moroso 351w swap pan also. I made the decision to run the series long intake initially which helped clearance. Energy suspension mounts, 2” cowl no issues.
If you really want to free up tons of room, single plane EFI intake with Holley elbow.
Ya we have that intake for the 408.
I like these videos.. Just like school learn something everytime.. Good shit bud..
Thx
Thanks for all your helpful hints and tips, I needed a little room for my intake was touching the hood bracing
Hell ya matt! I always try to show others my struggles!
I have 4 hours into switching out my steering rack bushings. It was rough. I'm glad you didn't have to fight with it like I did
Which style K member do you have?
@@FORDMAT77 The one in the black car is UPR
@@jimmerwilli5592 Stock or aftermarket?
Not only am I having oil pan rack clearance issues. I’m also having the tps hood clearance issue and also bbl header and steering shaft clearance issue
Which kmember? Rack? Ragjoint ?
Neo, your from Ohio, correct? And, you say, "ull pan" like we do, in the south. Motor ull. I, caught that. Pretty cool!
Live in SC a number of years.

418w, YSI, supervic efi =89 notch
I just did manual rack on my 91 351w swap. The shaft coming from the new rack is smaller in diameter and my steering shaft coupler won't clamp down on the teeth. Not sure what to do here.
Where did you buy motor mounts?
I need to work this on my Fox. 351W is barely clearing the rack and the rack is leaking. I did manage to get EFI under a stock hood with the 351W swap drop mounts from LMR. Super close to the stock hood bracing.
Any issues with the front of the oil pan hitting the sway bar? Any help would be appreciated!
I don’t run a front sway bar so I couldn’t help you there.
Debating on keeping the power rack for my 408 swap vs going to a manual rack. Do you miss PS much in your white car?
Not really
Cool
Why not go to Electric Power Steering
the price? It is an option when all else fails, tho...and coyote swaps may create demand to lower the price even more.
I've seen on RUclips a couple of fox Mustang swaps from Honda cars I think
