    I'm amazed to see how this project went way over so many heads. The wick hanging down is supposed to indicate that it runs on air, and is not soaking in fuel as one would expect. 1000 down votes because people can't seem to grasp the ingenious design and precision that went into making this lighter, incredible.

      are you that daft @@aladdinmaarouf6752? It's meant to LOOK like the wick that is going down into the space in the middle is where the fuel is meant to be sucked up from. Not the body of the lighter. He's not saying it runs without fuel, he's saying it's made to LOOK like it is.
      Really, it's not that complex a concept.

      Honestly, i don't consider myself very smart, but the very first thing i would question is the large suspiciously-hollow-feeling ring that could easily house fuel. And i say that it feels like it's hollow cause if it wasn't, the weight would be multiplied by like 4 at least.

    For people saying that the guy lied in the title, obviously a lighter needs some kind of fuel, it’s supposed to look like it doesn’t which is why there’s a wick hanging in the middle.If you don’t know how fire works you should go back to high school because that is basic chemistry. Fire can’t happen without fuel. It’s not like it takes away from watching someone craft their own lighter out of nothing which is something most people can’t do. I think it’s a pretty good god damn video.

      You think wrong.
      Also: there is usually more than one possible explanation for any given phenomenon. I can give you three off the top of my head which have absolutely nothing to do with whether we can appreciate the craftsmanship that went into making this object or not:
      1) I sometimes dislike a video in order to train Google's "suggested videos" algorithm. Not sure if that works or not, but even if they don't currently take dislikes into account, maybe some day they will. So no harm in already setting up the necessary data.
      2) However, in this case, my reason for disliking was because I don't like engineering videos that try to wow me rather than show me. The entire video I was like "ok, he's making this piece. He didn't introduce it, so I have no idea what purpose it will serve until he starts assembling. Oh, he's moved onto another piece now? Ok, so now we have 5 pieces and we still don't know what they're for. Oh, wait, is this a new piece, or is it the previous one clamped on the other end? And if so, why doesn't he show the piece being turned around so we understand that it's still the same piece from the previous step?" I spent over 15 minutes watching a confusingly edited video of someone going through all the steps with zero explanation, for an item whose mode of operation was bloody obvious from the damn thumbnail.
      3) Waste of material on a useless object. That lighter is impractical and serves one purpose only: as a gimmick to impress the mentally retarded who've never heard of "screw caps". Doesn't bug me all that much, but I can imagine it bothers other folks when they see someone waste all that material, time and craftsmanship on an object that's less useful than the raw materials from which it is made..

    • @garretcannon3224
      @garretcannon3224 6 лет назад

      Juan Rial its not true that it is a complete waste of resources. I personally dont know anything about this stuff, but its fun to watch... but if he made multiple of these and sold them and made profit, that wouldnt be a waste. But he didnt mention or show any hints as to them being for sale so idk

      Not really.. a master would have taught this guy proper ways of using his tools. Many of the things he does are pretty much cringe worthy.. a master would't polish the material to make it look pretty.. he would use the right, sharp tools and the right rpm on the machine to accomplish a good surface. Polishing like the guy in the video does is only done by people who never learned how to use their tools properly. I've been in this trade and studied under an actual master to know enough to say something like this. ;)

    Everything looks immaculately made. Truly a master craftsman. Even the video is beautifully filmed and edited with a nice song to go over the video.

    I can't believe people clicked on this video thinking that there would actually be no fuel in the lighter. The word supposedly suggests that the statement is false. The lighter just looks as if it burns without fuel. People are stupid this is not click bait and is a great video.

      Definition: Supposedly
      according to what is generally assumed or believed (often used to indicate that the speaker doubts the truth of the statement).
      Note the use of the word "often" as opposed to: "Used to indicate ..."
      The correct word would be "appearently"
      But yeah: Those who thought that there would be no fuel are ... retarded.

      It's an old magicians trick. This man showed us how to make your own and stupid people don't understand any of it. They don't even understand him gluing a piece of wick under the real wick is supposed to make you think it has no fuel when you light it in front of other people. I honestly fear for the future of the human race. I knew right away from the title what was going on it doesn't take a rocket scientist.

      Bass-D C not starting anything. You gave that awesome monologue about words and stuff and then used retarded to describe a situation that is... well... anyway. They're oblivious, ignorant and their intelligence may be obfuscated (vtm taught me that)semicolon but comma they're not retarded period.
      I'm just so bored and necrofucked your reply. Sorry.

      "I'm just so bored and necrofucked your reply. Sorry."
      Danth's Law
      "I'm thinking, a good rule of thumb might be that if someone goes and announces that they've won an internet forum discussion, they probably very much haven't."
      Definition Retarded
      less advanced in mental, physical, or social development than is usual for one's age.
      Or how would you say it?
      "They're oblivious, ignorant and their intelligence may be obfuscated"
      Or: They are mentally illequiped/ Unintelligent.
      Or: Their mental development is below the standart usual for their age, because that is what one is allways comparing someone to, as one describes their intelligence.

    Really nice...prison ones didn’t use fuel...the mop wick would catch the sparks...there’d be no flames...but the wick would burn.

    • @TFKofBD
      @TFKofBD 6 лет назад

      Most people wouldn't want to buy it due to price. Handcrafted crafts take a LONG time to make and an apprentice machinist rate is around 20 USD/Hour. He probably took around 4 - 5 hours just to make it. Add in the cost of materials, tools and profit and suddenly you have a lighter that costs $200 or more.

      Benjamin New wondered that myself since the whole body can be opened. That third pin allows easier filling, and almost more importantly keeps it standing.
