Not sure if you won an award for this video but you should have. Just incredible!! Thanks so much for making this! What did trip cost as I would love to do this someday?
Greetings I just finish watching one of your RUclips on the DMV Rio grande and I want to say this it’s absolutely fantastic the filming the quality of the film was absolutely superb the actual the scenery at self is so bright and green he was really well done I am Australian I love Australian Narrow Gauge America Narrow Gauge European Narrow Gauge English Narrow Gauge or whatever it’s called clash so once again I just want to say thank you for putting up a beautiful RUclips well done Service well done yours Jeff Melbourne Australia
An excellent video, with great scenes from the DSNGR. Fantastic shots of the K37 #493# steam locomotive and the freight car, passenger car and the caboose. Thank you for showing me.
Great detailed video and super well done. I model this area with many scratch-built HO scale bridges. This detailed video provides me with a lot of great info and scenes to base my mountain model railroad on. Gave a Sub too for a great job. Phil NYC / Jersey Shore Area
Thanks! It's a beautiful area I'm very intertwined with my family history in these mountains. The trestle that is shown in the thumbnail though is no more, as its replacement had its first train roll over it yesterday (2 May 2024), and a steel girder bridge replaced it. But, it will help make sure that this railroad will continue to keep rolling into the next century.
@@Big_Diehl Hard to tell from the thumbnail which trestle it is? Would you have a time marker on where it shows up on your video? By the way, your videos are very well done. I used to do videography before starting my photography business. Thanks... Phil
Beautiful work. The K-37 is my favorite locomotive. Heading back to Durango in a week to ride the train again and get some footage. I must ask, what camera did you film with?
Imagine if during the early 20th century, the Rio grande built the narrow gauge westward towards four corners and beyond to connect with the SP’s Narrow Gauge system with the Carson & Colorado.
Everything was shot with a Nikon Z6, aside from the in cab footage and the drone at CRRM. Then everything was recorded via a Atomos Ninja V (except the Granite Point sequence). Our video of 476 in “1973” was shot with the same set up, but in 10bit which allowed for even more color grading (and saving of highlights) than this set up.
It's not the wood that needs to be replaced... I mean, it does, but you can usually do that piecemeal. The other problems compounding it, just as its height above the river are what's helping in the need of replacement.
Now make a video explaining WHY the larger engines were NOT used to Silverton.. The K-36's and K-37's ran from Alamosa to Durango, and south to Farmington.... but why not north? Make that video.
@@kjfenterprises9618 No, it’s because it’s wide open country not just following a river. More like it was in the old west, u can see forever. Have to go see it. And they use coal trains too, not oil as Durango does.
@@kjfenterprises9618 I know that. Cumbres RR is open country and not following rock walls. Cumbres has never had any problems with that. I’ll never go to Durango and that train again. Over rated.
Greatly enjoyed my video visit. Thanks for your effort in post. Really looks nice.
Thank you very much!

Absolutely crazy beautiful!
I think this is the most beautiful videos of steam locomotives. Great color and composition.

Magnificent production! We rode the DSNGR a month ago. Incredible experience.
These shots you have in this video are fantastic
Thanks!
Great quality and great video!
One of your best videos yet! Great photography as always, and I appreciated the story as well.

Nikon Z6 with an Atomos Recorder.
I saw the Slim Princess at the Durango roundhouse.
Awesome! Great job! ❤
Thank you! 😄

Awesome video, keep it up!
I’m trying, but the railroad…
the quality of the video is amazing, like i was there. what's the set up, if you don't mind me asking?

What years did the k-37 #497 operate on the D&S and did it ever go to Silverton?
Now if the C&TS can get #497 rebuilt we'll have three operational K-37's!
*Pawn Shop Meme* "Best I can do is 492..."
Seeing the smokestack go from white to black, back and forth a couple times, tells you something.
And what is that?
I did not realize it was time to replace the bridge already. Bit then again its been there forever and mostly made of wood

491 at C&TS or DSNGR when?
You’d have to ask @Hyce…
@@Big_Diehl ok then see if hes live tonight
then ill ask
The 491 is in Operation at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, Colorado

Cumbres and Toltec is a much better railroad 🛤️.
Is it because it’s 19 miles longer than the D&SNG?
