    Guys, when sorin was in the army they were training on hand granades, and one of is soldier friend of Sorin, throws a hand granade and it doesnt explode.Then Sorin says "dont worry let me repair the hand granade, takes the grande and dismantels its ignition parts and replace the detonator and gives back. His friend takes hand granade, pulls the pin and turns and ask Sorin "what did u do" . Sorin's answer was as usual i replaced the detonator with a Properly Calibrated Detaonator. Actually these were the last words his friend heard. Then Sorin scratches his head and says What did i do wrong, i just replaced the faulty part with a properly calibrated one. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sorin it was a nice video just wanted to make you smile with a funny imaginary story. Lots of love from Istanbul.

    15:14 - To identify component google "s-manuals smd". Then you pick from table and see data sheet. UL26 is ESD protection device.
    19:42 - I am maybe 30 years younger, yesterday I tried to do something I did 20 times OK in past, I made single mistake and I bricked board worth 3000 eur. At least I am not one of those that are scared to even try. Yes I will repair that board because everything can be repaired.

    • @therealjammit
      @therealjammit 2 года назад +1

      I was going to say there was no need to add the "calibrated jumper" wires in because the board shows the connections go straight through, therefore the UL26 must be an ESD device.

    Hi Sorin
    This chip is a usb to rs232 converter to be connected to a microcontroller.
    The battery sensor line is connected to directly to the microcontroller and not to 232 chip.
    In first diagnosis when there is no usb response to the computer means that 232 chip is not communicated.
    Like arduino boards.
    Best regards.

    After watching your video, I would say your soldering killed the surge protection (the chip in the USB data lines). The Chip was probably fine until you put 5V on the 3.3V pin. That killed the chip. Anyway, Its working again and we were remembered to be carefully with different ground potentials. Did you check, why these were so different? Shouldn't both be connected to earth potential?

    • @kisszoltan3108
      @kisszoltan3108 2 года назад +2

      The chip was already dead, so there was no voltage.

  • @dexasdexas3784
    @dexasdexas3784 2 года назад

    I didnt see the video, but if you had battery connected to the device when you were soldering it - you had common ground connection between battery and usb chip. Afterwards, when you touched the fuse with soldering iron, you shorted VBAt through mains earth, through USB chip (USB GND) to main ground, which killed the chip (did that a few times.. :S )
    For the chip itself, would strongly suggest not getting it from china, had quite a few arrive somewhat dead - Chip itself works, but the moment you install driver driver itself states "Chip phased out in 2010, contact your supplier" and does not work, simply because its counterfeight
