    Dear Sorin! You're doing a great job. The way you repair is simply brilliant. Don't bother with stupid comments. You have your heart in the right place. For many people, drinking coffee is an everyday occurrence. Unfortunately, drinking coffee is almost a luxury for more and more people. I hope you understand my comparison. You often win in business, but sometimes you make the poor people very happy if you can repair it cheaply and, as a result, you have done a good deed. God protect you and your kindness.

    Thanks for showing how the battery fuse works. I upgraded my similar model laptop's RAM and storage, and the wires that go from the motherboard to the LCD panel got out of their place and got pinched by the laptop's bottom lid as I was putting it back together. Unfortunately, both the backlight fuse and the battery fuse got blown out in the process. I've successfully soldered the backlight fuse and it's working great. Now, thanks to your video I'll be able to get my battery to charge again. I appreciate your hard work and sharing it, Sorin!

    I love how these companies like ASUS, Apple, Tesla, all preach about being sustainable, but then design their batteries to expire over time, and even have fuses they blow on purpose, even though they are perfectly fine. In any case, good work, very informative!

    • @maeanderdev
      @maeanderdev 2 года назад +1

      As far as I understand there is good reason to have such a fuse, as it can reliably disconnect the cells when something goes very wrong, potentially avoiding a fire.
      Li-Ion cells are really hazardous when treated wrong

    • @WXSTANG
      @WXSTANG 2 года назад +1

      @@maeanderdev I would argue that most of these situations are showing the cells to be fine, and that they are blowing the fuse after X time, or X recharges. Also, if the battery started a catastrophic failure situation, those cells would all light up even if you disconnected them. There is no reason to blow that fuse until the cell can't take 30-40% of its original charge, then they can be catastrophic because internally they can short. That is after like 10 or 20 years though. Lithium hasn't been around long enough to play this game of batteries going south.

    • @maeanderdev
      @maeanderdev 2 года назад

      @@WXSTANG There are multiple scenarios which may result in a catastrophic failure.
      If for example the charger fails to terminate a protection device may be able to avoid a fire and in such may save lifes.
      I don't know if there is any sign of deliberate blowing of such a fuse by means of planned obsolesence, or if rather such cases are a result of external heat or erratic triggering of a safety mechanism in the battery controller

    A few days ago I bought one of these devices but it was not with the aim of making money with it, or doing business with it, but trying to maintain the batteries of several laptops I have, mine, my wife's and my daughter's, and some friends' .
    It cost me the financial effort, because I live in one of the poorest countries in the EU and I don't have any electronics business or anything else, but I consider the purchase as a long-term investment, I can even try to recover this investment by recovering some batteries for €15 to €25 each, but it was not for that purpose that I purchased the device, making electronics and computers a hobby, because my monthly income comes from my work as a civil servant.
    And by the way, I really like watching your videos, including this one and the video where the USB port of the device stops working, I wish you good health and many, long years of life ..... and videos of course.

    Deal Mr. Sorin, thanks for all your videos. I believe the vast majority is not getting your point regarding the restoration/resetting the batteries. But there is one important point from my viewpoint: the only way to restore the battery of an old laptop (one that I Have is ASUS a3h or ASUS A6r) is to repack it and reset the controller (because one cannot buy a new spare battery for the 10plus years old laptop)

    • @robertjung8929

      @@Drottninggatan2017 no that fuse is blown by the chip in the battery when it detects abnormal situation which is not solved by disabling the mosfets (the ones inside the battery)... it's literally the last resort safety to prevent battery fire. sometimes the chip is "trigger-happy" and blows the fuse when the situation is not that critical, in those cases you can reset the battery but the fuse MUST be replaced with a proper fuse, bridging that fuse in the battery is a fire hazard.

    Hi Sorin, Informative video as usual. My Thoughts on the device, I have one of these and am only a hobbyist repairer but have done many devices over the years. The initial device cost my seem high but as you said it is a unique device and with a fairly small customer base compared say to a soldering station so the developer needs to make money to keep the project going. It's like data recovery hardware, high price small sales market. As for the unlock licence, for someone like me it is far to expensive paying yearly subscription for something I may or may not use. I realise it is not aimed at people like me but is there no way to maybe pay per unlock like mobile unlock codes, or batches of 5 unlocks at a time via site membership or the like. Anyway please keep making your informative and entertaining videos, I enjoy watching, even the non repair ones (did you ever find your drone ?)

      The IC on the battery detects an error and locks the battery so it doesn't blow up and burn your house down. Sometimes it can happen if the battery is too low. Imbalanced cells can cause an error. Or if it draws too much current when charging. Or even discharging too quickly.

    Maybe a better way to "fix" the fuse is to remove the plastic, and put a small ceramic part on the factory low melt solder. (do not put more solder like you did).
    Then use the heat gun to melt it.
    At the same time, put some pressure to disperse the solder to make contact with both the internal fuse terminals.
    Then remove the heat and remove the ceramic part.
    That way the fuse will work "like new" ???
    That is until you find and install a new fuse.....

    The lack of repair in the uk and europe is because companies deliberately make repair impossible.
    Often even their own technicians cannot repair the product themselves, if the part is repairable but requires specialist software or tools to do so they are instructed to replace.
    Often because they do not want the software to be leaked, exposing their deliberate locking.

      Perhaps I missed something, I thought his repair was to short out the fuse. I'll watch it again.
      Yep, @15:41...soldered across fuse.

      @@nipembedded9976 and yet I get 10 bux usd off with that code, and all up with shipping to Australia 6035 it costs me $358usd shipped? However through deepcyclepower it's $303.76 usd shipped, just the nbla is 276usd , that's 53usd cheaper than your website n your the manufacturer. 303.76 usd shipped is a fair price with 30 free unlocks a year. @@nipembedded9976 honestly 300usd shipped with 50 reset limit a year you would sell a hell of alot more especially for me I'd buy 1 for each shop, but I'd buy 1 to test out 1st , just registered on your website and monitoring prices

      @@waynetaylor2784 All these things can be negotiated, it depends on how many batteries you repair in a year. If you repair a lot, you earn money, so, I also need money. But if you repair a few then I can help you.
