We needed a five man midfield with one sitting cdm that way Scholes Beckham lamps Gerrard could go forward . Instead we always stuck to 4-4-2 3-5-2 would of killed teams off .. only problem was who was the choices for cdm Scott Parker ? Danny murphy? Gareth Barry ?

Always giving it his all unbelievable energy levels week in week out, season in season out. People just talk about the goals and how so many were penalties. Over 200 goals for the blues 💙 and no more than 50 were penalties. From LCM in a 4-3-3 most of the time not as a number 10. Zidane was a better player than Lampard I'm sure most would say and I may agree but with everything that Lampard brings to a team he without a shadow of a doubt be in my top 5 Cm's that I have seen play 2000-2023

You probably never watched him pal. The best player I have ever seen pull on a red shirt and maybe ever seen live period. I've seen Kaka, Pirlo, Seedorf, Alonso, Schweinsteiger live against United and around Europe, and Scholes was the best. Always had time, never panicked. However, what ranks him above many others as a United Fan is the fact he is Mancunian, came through the Academy, and never played for anyone else. Those players simply mean more to any fanbase, not just United. Also, his demeanour, rejected the celebrity football image and just played, never had an agent, and was never tempted to play anywhere other than at Old Trafford. There is a simple class and personality there than can never be 'overrated', because it's priceless.

True football fans will acknowledge great players regardless of club loyalty or nationalities. That is why I’m more than happy to say as a Spurs fan, Frank Lampard was one of the best PL players and one of the top England Internationals.

Wow, Lampard makes a point here that I've never heard before - that England players struggle to play together because they all play in the same league. Interesting theory and it kind of makes sense. Although I suppose a lot of Spanish players play together in Spain and they're not struggling to win tournaments (at least not a few years ago).

I see people are still comparing Lampard, Gerrad, Scholes. Seems to be kids doing it nowadays (which is weird) just as we did in real time. Here's what I've always said, unlike Scholes and Lampard, Gerrard never once had the best team in the league let alone Europe. Closest he came was 08/09, but they were up against one of the greatest Untied sides, if not the greatest, of all time. Most of Gerrad's career Liverpool were the 3rd-6th best team in the league and for most of that, I'd say 85% of the time, he carried donkeys. Can you imagine Scholes or Lampard playing in midfield alongside the likes of Christian Poulsen, Charlie Adam, Nick Barmby, Salif Diao, Alberto Aquilani, Igor f*cking Biscan, Jonjo Shelvey, Joe Allen, Jay Spearing, Boudewijn Zenden, Joe Allen, Jamie Redknapp towards the end of his career, Momo Sissoko, a 32 year old Paul Ince, Lucas Leiva, Danny Murphy, a young pre Klopp Jordan Henderson. How many of them would get into those United or Chelsea title winning/contending teams? And that's just the midfielders. All three were incredible players, but for what was asked of him and what he had to put up with, it's Gerrad. Would have loved to have seen him playing for a few years in a world beating side, Juve, Milan, United, Chelsea, Madrid. I mean, they all at one stage or another wanted him. Loyalty got him love and adoration, not many medals.

Gerrard > Lampard > Scholes easily. When it comes to other player's opinion, there is always something they did or couldn't do that they cherished more in a player more than what the player was overall. Even if Lampard hasn't been praised as much as Gerrard or Scholes by football legends doesn't mean anything really other than players having preferences. The stats and record back Lampard just as much as Gerrard (Lamps better in the attacking front) and sorry United fans, Paul Scholes can't be compared to what the other two offered overall

You probably never watched him pal. The best player I have ever seen pull on a red shirt and maybe ever seen live period. I've seen Kaka, Pirlo, Seedorf, Alonso, Schweinsteiger live against United and around Europe, and Scholes was the best. Always had time, never panicked. However, what ranks him above many others as a United Fan is the fact he is Mancunian, came through the Academy, and never played for anyone else. Those players simply mean more to any fanbase, not just United. Also, his demeanour, rejected the celebrity football image and just played, never had an agent, and was never tempted to play anywhere other than at Old Trafford. There is a simple class and personality there than can never be 'overrated', because it's priceless.
