Sometimes there are useful Tips and Clips that dont just make a whole video of their own, but should still be shown, so I am trying this new format to see what everyone thinks about it. What do you think? Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think, good or bad.

Hi Steve, please do more of these along side you're usual vlogs. I've learnt so much from you over the past 18 months and have told my family and friends about you and encouraged them to watch you too. Thanks for everything you're doing. 👌👏🙌👏
Thank you Alison, that is very kind of you...Steve...🙂
That grapevine is incredible. I appreciate the 'little' tips - sometimes they are something new that even us old timers don't know about.
Thank you Paula, I always want to bring something new if I can, or in a new way...Steve...🙂
Steve you shouldn’t be so surprised with your viewing figures as your channel has come in in leaps and bounds 😀 your presenting style is so relaxed and informative and you deserve all the credit that comes your way. As for the new tips and clips video I would suggest that it’s a huge hit mate well done. Have a good week and stay safe David 👍👍
Many thanks David, it was very enjoyable to make also, I dont write scripts or even an itemised list of what I need to shoot, I do it all ad-lib so to speak, so the shorter clips are much easier and enjoyable to film...Steve...🙂
I know where I'm getting the rest of my tips for the end of the livestream from 😂
😁😁 Is that right!...Steve...🙂
Great work Steve, I can remember when you were almost at 3000 subscribers, doesn’t seem that long ago. I truly don’t know why you are shocked at the growth of your channel, you share an abundance of knowledge in an easy and enjoyable way to follow and learn from. You are my go to when I need advice about vegetable growing, thanks so much and I’m very pleased your channel is now receiving the attention it deserves. Your plot looks fantastic as always and wow your grapes are unbelievable! Cheers
Thank you so much, in a weeks time there will be less than half that amount of grapes left, after pruning!...Steve...🙂
It's a definite yes from me, much enjoyed your grape section as you promised
Glad you enjoyed it Brian !...Steve...🙂
I like this format also. You do what you think is right and helps you. I will be along for the ride. Thx for all your videos.
Many thanks Rebecca, that means the world to me !...Steve...🙂
You're the man Steve! So glad I cam across your channel, I have learned so much from your videos as a beginner in his first year of growing. Keep up the good content! These little clip compilations are great for dipping into for quick tips.
Brilliant Steve,, a great format for the quick tips that don't justify a full video,,
Yes Phillip, everything has its place...Steve...🙂
Your grape vines are stunning!
Thank you Rachel, it is the best it has ever been this year!...Steve...🙂
Remembering Steve and your great advice - thank you ❤
Hi Steve, I like this format and hope that you continue with it.
HI Phil, I will be doing some more of these quite soon...Steve...🙂
Yes to tips and tricks specific videos!
Thank you very much, more will be here soon...Steve...🙂
Personally I like this format. I wouldn't want you to drop your old format which was obviously more in depth but I think there's definitely room for you to do both. A bit like having hors d'oeuvres as well as a main course!!! And, yes, I had to look up how to spell that!!!!!
THanks Dave, I used to write a lot of menus back in the day, think I would have to look hors d'oeuvres up to be sure I had it right, here I just copied and pasted yours!...Steve...🙂
Your helpful tips are always welcome as are all your videos so thank you.
Thank you for saying that Brenda, much appreciated...Steve...🙂
Steve great video, just keep doing what you do its great .
Thank you Glen, I will!...Steve...🙂
I found all of this very interesting and helpful. Thanks Steve.
Thank you so much Claudia...Steve...🙂
Tunning in from Australia 🇦🇺 🤠 My husband Chuck and I have always enjoyed your videos Steve. Liked. And shared. Take care
Love everything you post but need a live stream so I can watch all day.
Aww bless you Susan, my plan is to start doing livestreams in the Autumn, time and other circumstances allowing of course...Steve...🙂
I've enjoyed this video Steve very informative, I think and hope there's room for both formats. You mentioned your Grandad being head gardener for Liverpool gardens, I think I got my love of gardening from my Dad who had an allotment in Walton Park Liverpool. Made me feel quite sentimental hearing your comment.
HI LIz, the Parks in Liverpool used to be so well staffed and maintained, last time I went to the City they where a shadow of their former self, like everywhere though, staff cuts save money...Steve...🙂
Morning Steve, the good thing about your channel is you take the time to read your comments and make videos that are informative for your viewers. The one thing about your channel growing is you may not be able to keep up what you are doing. Saying that I wish you every success with your channel and will continue to support you just be careful you don't start to get overwhelmed with it all. See you on the live.
Thank you Fiona, yes I do have to watch out for that and be careful ttoo...Steve...🙂
I started practicing your method of palm sowing when I first saw you do it a few years ago. I have bad thumbs and gripping anything small is painful and near impossible for me-that includes seeds. Palm sowing turned out to be an adaptable way for me to sow seeds because thumbs are not involved. It does take a little practice though. I’ve gotten much better at it. You make it look so easy.
It comes with time, some people take to it easy, others not so...Steve...🙂
Just want to say thank you for the videos, currently waiting on 4 separate lists for an allotment, watching these videos and making myself lists of my first steps when I get a chance!
Brilliant and informative as always. I got my first plot in Wallasey in January and you are one of the first people I watched to try to make sense of the huge space that I was suddenly confronted with and to avoid many mistakes I would have undoubtedly made. I really like these tips videos, they’re really useful and relevant to what’s going on with growing. Congratulations on your follower count rising, thoroughly deserved.
Many thanks Dotty! I hope your new plot is starting to take shape now, it can be a little dark at times when your first start due to weeds and not quite understanding what comes first, but power yourself through it, it will come good in the end...Steve...🙂
Great idea! I’ve learnt so much from you so thank you. Tried the tomato tie in tip today and it’s a game changer 👍👍
Thank you Ellie, I get such a kick knowing I have helped someone...Steve...🙂
As always Steve, A big thumbs up from me..
Cheers Stephen, many thanks...Steve...🙂
Excellent format! ❤️👍🇨🇦👍🇨🇦👩🌾
Thank you Frances...Steve...🙂
Love your videos how ever they come, started flowers last year, waited 16 months for my sweet Williams but boy was it worth the wait 😍 thanks for all the help and advice you give us 🥰
I'm so pleased you have sweet williams, grogeous little vase fillers they are...Steve...🙂
Love the new tips format. I'm clipping the ones I want, to start making a personalised tips library 📒✂️🌟
Thank you Jo, I like that idea...Steve...🙂
Brilliant video keep them coming Steve all useful information
Many thanks David !...Steve...🙂
Thank you for all this info Steve, you have taught me so much over the few months I have been following you. I also love flowers growing in the veg patches and around them, after all they attract the bees and other insects. I have always used the palm method of sowing too, my Dad showed me when I first started with seeds years ago. Also, I'm thrilled for you that your subscriptions are climbing well, I think it's because the people who watch you feel that you don't dress things up, you say it like it is and it all makes good sense. Thank you for your knowledge Steve :)
Hi CraftyLinnet, I try to give the info I have freely and in a fashion I appreciate, as you said not overdressed...Steve...🙂
As Iv said before this is why I believe your channel is one of the better ones.. very informative with the stuff only years of experience . Which you share with us old and new gardeners.. ..... yeah many channels once they have the subs become promoters.. so they get things for free . That's fine as long as they don't just turn into that kind..... remember most people that have an allotment do it to save money . Or air miles by growing their own ... at the same time saving money so all that kind of information far better than watching someone that promotes expensive things .. as you said you don't do a lot of lights .. just a small amount of heat ..in the end if winter months. Again . Top advice.. I watch countryside and noticed .. there is a trend to go back to a older time on fertiliser and how to improve the soil . This has got to be the way forward... I'm not old fashioned. Just intensif throw chemicals at everything = money...
It is all a difficult balance to achieve, running a youtube channel can be expensive so I do understand why some creators plug products that will be useful to them (as they get it free or reduced in price). If I published what I have spent on this channel, some people might feint, so I never will. I plug the occasional company or product but it has to be for a very good reason. I do get offered many free products every week, some gardening related others not and I turn most of them down...Steve...🙂
I really like this format Steve - hints & tips videos, as well as the usual longer ones, addressing particular topics, or seasonal plot tours. Variety is the spice of life, as they say! 😉. Those Sweet Williams are gorgeous by the way!
Many thanks Willow, its a bit mad really but I love the last week before they flower. I race into the plot and go look "Is it today"...Steve...🙂
@@GreenSideUp 😆 not mad at all! I would be exactly the same!
Good stuff Steve. Nice idea to keep it moving and give lots of great content. Keep em coming....
Cheers shorty, much appreciated...Steve...🙂
Great idea Steve, love tips and tricks 😊 Thank you
Hi Denise, hope you are well ! More tips just around the corner...Steve...🙂
I loved the sowing seed tip and tomato tying thank you steve.
You are very welcome Tracy !...Steve...🙂
In the words of a Barry White song 🎶 I love you just the way you are🎶
You will make me blush Kim !...Steve...🙂
Another brilliant video Steve👍👌👏💪
Thank you so much Ibr !...Steve...🙂
Love the tip format Steve maybe a playsuit for the tips videos and timestamps on the description would help viewers find and use tips further down the line! Keep up the great work!
I just subscribed because of your "tips and clips". They are a big help to a lot of us.
Hi Steve, great video, thanks for sharing and take care 🙂
Thank you very much Christine!...Steve...🙂
Love your videos I always learn something, thank you.
Many thanks Pauline !...Steve...🙂
Love it, Steve.
THats great, thank you Amanda...Steve...🙂
I think it’s a great idea Steve. There are lots of little “tips and tricks” that gardeners learn, taught or pick up over the years and it’s great to share them. Knowledge is power so they say, a bit of a coveted thing, but the gardening fraternity generally love to share. As this section grows why not include tips shared by other youtubers you could insert them. Anyway, great idea. Thanks
THanks Pat, I am already active on the last part (wink)...Steve...🙂
Great Idea love the clips and tips.
Thanks Rodney...Steve...🙂
Great tips there Steve 👍👍👍
Many thanks Carl !...Steve...🙂
Another great video Steve going to give the sharing a go, I've been watching you and Tony a long time now and enjoy every one of your video's I grew sweet pea's for the first time this year and the comments on the allotment have all been great so I have started to get my sweet pea seeds for next year, looking at your sweet William I'm going to have try some of them they look tremendous,
I find you very easy to listen to like a friend that you have known for a long time if we ever met on the street I would say hello and then go off telling you about what's going on on my plot and you would probably think who's this nut case
I am more than happy to keep following your channel in what ever format suits you best
Thank you Stephen, its one of those things I say a lot, "just try"...Steve...🙂
Sorry for the rant.... yeah this sort of vlog is great .. keep them coming for me ..... steve
Its ok Tony, you are as much Green Side Up as I am and you are entitled to say what you think, but it was not a rant so all is good. Without subscribers, Green Side Up is nothing...Steve...🙂
thanks for the grape vine tip.......i thought i was doing okay with my 150 grape danglers....im pruning sunday
150 bunches is fantastic Dean, very well done...Steve...🙂
Great update Steve, I am hooked lol I will promote your good name whenever I can 👍
Very useful tips 👍Thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome!...Steve...🙂
I like the hints and tips format as it will help fill in the 'how did you do that' or 'what technique did Steve use to get that result'
Keep safe 👍
I am hoping it will Carol...Steve...🙂
Loved it, very helpful to me. Thank you 🤗🤗🤗
Hi Sally, so glad you found it useful!...Steve...🙂
Great information please keep up the videos and good work
I will Colin and thank you...Steve...🙂
Do you have to dilute the comfry and nettles? I enjoyed learning this way, good idea! Thanks
Hi Jane, I dilute in the watering can till its the colour of weak tea for daily feeding and a little darker than strong tea for weekly...Steve...🙂
Enjoyed the incidental tips.😊
Thank you very much Helen...Steve...🙂
great video lots of tips thank you 😊 really appreciate it
And I appreciate you watching and commenting Beth, thank you!...Steve...🙂
Great vid Steve, whatever you’re up to is interesting and helpful, I’m happy with whatever format you pick!
Thank you so very much Clare...Steve...🙂
Love the tips and clips name and i would definitely like more please.
I really like little tips and tidbits so thank you. gardening rarely falls into neat little ten minute segments. Can you tell me where is the best place to tie in tomatoes. Under fruit trusses or between?
HI Lin, I would always try to tie in under a leaf if I can, never under a truss as I would not want to damge that...Steve...🙂
@@GreenSideUp thanks for the answer.
Great tips 👍
Thank you Cathrin !...Steve...🙂
Absolutely love tips! Good luck on making 20k.
Many thanks Robin...Steve...🙂
Hi Steve like the new format always handy to get the little tricks people use to make life easier, keep up the good work,. on a completely different subject and a little trick for me to give to you. your door supports on your tunnel are wrong. the top diagonal should be furthest from the door frame and the bottom should be closest to the door frame it puts it under compression and give more strength, yours are upside down(in a v shape needs to be ^ shape,
The Doors are quite correct, I just fitted them very incorrectly...😁😁. Thank you Trevor for that, sorry I could not resisit the first part...Steve...🙂
keep at it lad ive learned of it and some good tips thanks for your hard work
Great video, I really liked it, top tips are great
Many many thanks Mark...Steve...🙂
Enjoyed the format Steve.
Many thanks LIndsay...Steve...🙂
Great idea. 💕
You have to do a close-up for Tony.....LOL
lol..I think he has enough pictures of me right now.!...Steve...🙂
@@GreenSideUp LOL, the sowing part...haha. One of these days he will sow his seeds like a pro (you) on his videos :)
Great tips there Steve! One of many tips videos to come I hope. Those sweet Williams look amazing. 🌸🌺🌸
Thanks Ally, they look even better in a vase...Steve...🙂
Love it👍👍👍👏👏👏
Great advice to a novice like myself always look forward to your videos 👍
THank you Tim...Steve...🙂
Not dising your other vids as good but this is more informative and to the point no BS 👍🏻 & grateful for what you do either way... Top man
Thanks Carl, I am hoping a mix of the two should satisfy all round...Steve...🙂
Great video Steve and good idea with the short clips/tips.
Thank you very much Leaton!...Steve...🙂
Cracking idea to do clips and tips Steve 😁🌱🐛☀️
Thank you very much Fletchy!...Steve...🙂
Could you show us how to prune a bunch of grapes , ie taking small ones so to allow other grapes to get bigger, thanks
Great advice, Steve, as always 👍
🌿💚🌿
Absolutely! I don't consider myself a novice and often youtube gardeners don't provide me with new information but you Steve are like an encyclopedia! I have learnt so much from you and look forward to each video. Joined you when you had less than 100 subscribers and knew instantly that you were one to watch. Thank you.
@@magpie1492 That is so very kind of you to say that, thank you!...Steve...🙂
Thank you so much Peggy!...Steve...🙂
Hi Steve as usual great interesting video with great tips 👍
Thank you so much Marion!...Steve...🙂
Nice content. I do like the tips and clips format, it is something a little different. Take care.
Thank you, it was fun to record too so I am very pleased...Steve...🙂
Thanks Steve, really helpful tips video. More of these would be appreciated! Can I ask where you bought the wire fencing for your sweet peas? Cheers
Hi Marv and thank you! I got the wire mesh from a guy who started up in the panddemic, so he is local rather than national. You should be able to get it from a good farming supplies business...Steve...🙂
👍
Great video. I like the idea of short clips. If you ever find a way of making comfrey, Nettle or other plant fertiliser which doesn't smell so bad I'd love to know as I can't use it because it makes me feel quite ill.
Have you seen the compression way of making pure comfrey extract? I’ve started a comfrey press bin with a spout in the bottom and I heap the leaves in and put a weight on top. The aim is to eventually get a pure extract juice dripping into a container underneath but takes longer and needs a larger amount of leaves I think. Also needs diluting more because it’s not been in any liquid prior so is stronger. I’m trying this because I am extremely sensitive to smells and don’t want to be puking on my plot 😂
@@permanentlyperplexed3924 I haven't seen that, I'll look that up and give it a try. Thanks for the advice.
I did see something about that once, but cannot remember what it was, I just make sure I stand downwind of it...Steve...🙂
Very Eighteenth C., 1700s, supposedly, to simply pile up a huge armful of flowers and then to put them into a vase. No careful arrangements, no fussing or fretting.
Thanks Steve, i enjoyed this tips video, lots of info. I will send an email about a further question about grapevines if that’s ok?.
Yes please do Anita...Steve...🙂
You could start using RUclips shorts for short video clips (Y)
Thank you Anthony, I have done that in the past but they are limited to 59 seconds so although the do work they are a little short for what I want to use here...Steve...🙂
Hi Steve, would subscribe again if it would help, been with you for sometime now, you have been my one to watch along Tony smith
Thanks Pete, that would be good if we could do that...Steve...🙂
I’m really enjoying your tips, but have to scale down for my tiny garden. I’ve grown comfrey for a few years, used it as chop and drop, and layered in my wee compost bin. But I have finally worked out how to make comfrey tea without annoying my neighbours with the smell. Bokashi, airtight bins, only stinks as I decant into bottles from the tap. A question, I have diluted it 10:1 before feeding my tomatoes and strawberries. Is that about right? It truly does smell vile! NhL
I tend to go by the colour rather than a statutory measure, if I am feeding every day I will use it the colour of weak tea, once or twice a week then it is quite brown but still transparent...Steve...🙂
I think you should index your videos into chapters if you are going to produce small clip based videos, which I agree are a good idea. See Epic Gardening's channel recent videos for examples (e.g you can see subsections of each video). Otherwise it's like a guidebook without a contents page. And I hope you don't become 'too professional' ;) the personal touch is great.
Thanks Reggie for the reminder, that was my intention when I came up with the idea for this. I'll correct the description and make sure I do it in future. No chance of me getting too professional though, thankfully...Steve...🙂
growing flowers keeps the veg alive.....our bees need flowers......not cabbage
Indeed Dean, and adding just a few flowers to the veg garden impproves things all round, even your own mood and state of health...Steve...🙂
Money from you tube Steve be honest
if you change your format ill unsub......reason you are the best gardening info on here ....this format is straight and honest.....not like watching alan tit head or monty drone
I am guessing you dont like those two gardeners then 😂😂 ...Steve...🙂
Wow Steve brilliant video I’ve been watching your for two years just after I got my plot learnt loads love live chats and banter you all have keep up good work 🥦🥒🫑🥬🌽🍎👍👍👍
Many thanks Ann!...Steve...🙂
