Hi Steve, this year is my first year with an allotment, you have inspired me to try and carry on growing in my greenhouse and poly tunnel over winter 😀
@@GreenSideUp Hi Steve I've not taken out yet they have not gone over so I will leave them another couple of weeks then take off the tops and leave them again so I'm looking at November before lifting Hope the polytunnel is going ok the weather has been terrible down in Stoke on Trent unable to work outside
Hey Steve As per usual such a very informative and useful video. I think your comment right at the beginning of your video about the time scales for crops and the info regarding frosts is invaluable. I love your enthusiasm, it's so encouraging and at the same time your honesty about 'mother nature' is so so on the ball and puts it all into perspective. I've just sown (some of) my garlic today and hope that next year I dont get hit with rust like this year!! Thanks again Steve for another fabulous video. From a true fan and friend Phil
Hi Steve, lots of information about growing all year around. i have plants in my polytunnel growing for the first Winter & hope it will be successful. But, if it doesnt, no problem, just sow more seeds. Love your videos, always positive ways of growing. Thanks for sharing and take care 🙂
Your tunnel is looking great! When I first started watching you-I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue. But, you have really stepped it up, more than a notch!
Thanks Steve I did a walk in Brassicas cage this year with a pallet and timber. Got given some poly tunnel sheeting and some heavy duty netting got cauliflower growing . Inside the green house just sow some lambs lettuce.
inspiring Steve 😍 absolutely support you - just try - stick some seeds in some soil and see what happens. Much better than sitting miserable for a few months waiting on april
Weather catches me out a lot but sometimes Mother Nature is kind to me, I think she actually really likes me now and just lets me grow what I want!...Steve...😁😁
You do a great job Steve i only grow a few overwintering crops but look forward to retiring from work in a couple of years' time and going for it 100% over winter my trouble now is i work six days a week as a grave digger and go to and from work in the dark over winter and my allotment is miles away from my home the only day i get with winter daylight is a Sunday and if anything has to be done at home it has to come first. I'm not moaning because the months when i get to allotment after work with daylight gives me so much pleasure
@@GreenSideUp yes there is Steve I had one but as I got more into allotment growing watching growers like yourself I had to give it up and move to my present allotment at ballysillan because you where only allowed a 6ft by 4ft shed no greenhouses or polytunnels so as you can imagine I was buying plug plants more than growing from seed which to me is the best part seeing a tiny seed in your hand turning into a meal on your be plate
Great advice Steve! Looking forward to seeing the polytunnel build! Luckily my frame is already there! We are very lucky firsttunnels support our channels. Looking forward to seeing another beautiful tunnel on your plot. Danny 🌱
I'm trying to grow more over winter this year, I've added Pak choi to my list, going to try garlic for the first time. Got my overwintered onions on the go. It amazing what u can grow over winter 🥶 lol
Thanks for your videos, always look out for them. hoping to get a bigger poly shortly. New subscriber so will look through your back catalogue. cheers.
Hi Steve, need some advice, planted some garlic last year but had to dig them up a few months in due to moving house, I left them in my greenhouse to dry out they were very small and hadn't split I was wondering if I could cut the tops off and regrow them this year, what do you recomed I should do Thanks Kevin thompson
Steve, I've started a book. I made a rough plan of the garden and where everything is planted. I've made notes of how things progressed (or not!). I want to change it a little next year and this will help me. Looking forward to your new build 🙂
Hi Steve, which of your plants could you grow outside? I sowed beetroot a few weeks ago and planted them out in the raised bed (just over the border in Scotland) but the are not growing at all. Similarly carrots and land cress. They germinate but then stop. I fed and manured the bed before planting so it shouldn't be lack of nutirents. I have leeks in the same bed which are growing. Is it too cold? The bed is covered by enviromesh and I can fleece it. I planned to plant out spinach and pac choy but am now worried they wont grow either???
Hi Steve, great, relaxing vids to watch, totally absorbing. Could you tell me where you got that large 30 cell propagation tray please? Like you say, handy size to have if plants need to stay snug longer than hoped👍 I do have containerwise trays, but don’t see this large 30 cell one on their sight.
Hi Steve, I'm interested in what flower seeds I can sow now. I only have a small garden, no cover but there is an unheated greenhouse that I can use elsewhere. Can you give me some ideas please? I have gardening in my genes and love being outdoors
Thanks Steve, that was very useful video although I don't have a polytunnel I will try some winter veg outside as already have seeds like pakchoi, spinach and Swiss chard. Is it too late for beetroot?
Hi Steve. You've inspired me to try a few things in my greenhouse this winter. Any tips on ventilation? I've got automatic top windows but should I keep the vents shut for more warmth or open a little for airflow?
Hey Steve quick question, with the blow away tunnel, once the green cover is removed is it possible to place proper poly tunnel covering over it or does that not work? Thanks.
Yes it works very well, providing your tunel frame is in good condition. There are so many companies making these cheap "blowawys" now and some use good components, others are not so good and the frames rust...Steve...🙂
Hi Trish, no I dont sell anything, we do give some produce away to friends and neighbours. We also have a "Hospice Table" at the top of our site just on the public footpath and passers by take produce we leave there and put a few coins in the honesty box...Steve...🙂
Great tip about making notes for the beginner gardener. I got myself a notebook when I first started gardening and did just that. Wrote down date of planting what I planted and brief comments every couple of months about how things were doing. Plus harvest notes as well. I was able to work out what worked best for me and over the years have avoided so much disappointment. Also made weather notes as well. Amazing how things have changed over the last few years. Winter gardening is definitely a doer provided you give the plants a bit of protection. Even if they are slow because it is cold, they race ahead in early spring. Love growing coriander and lettuce over winter. Didn't think it was possible until a few years ago. Keep those videos coming. They are great.😊
I show my mum your videos when I am visiting. she said "Well spoken young man." (She is 86)
Aww bless her, please pass on my thanks to her Reggie!...Steve...🙂

Yes, it works great i done it i made a door frame and door on one side and on the other a false door both doors have vents for air flow
