Thanks Alex for a nice review of this sailing machine. Go for it! Why carry lead while sailing. Sporty multihulls are always great fun. The speed and acceleration make you smile. The low draft opens interesting navigation opportunities. Rgs Tommi ex Hobie Cat champion and now a Nacra Formula 18 catamaran sailor besides S/Y Odysseia, Jeanneau 409…
YES! Please get one! Do the 24 if u can. They I'd hope cut you a great deal cause it'd be on RUclips with you. So every episode is pure advertising for them. I had a spindrift 24 and 4nt was peak. So traveling somewhere took all day. Plus Trimarans need more publicity! Imagine this greater distance you could travel! Limitless!
I’m think about reviewing boats that no one else will. I’m mostly going to do older boats like mine and similar. Maybe a few Hurleys and Achilles to start with!
@@AlexGoesSailing sounds like a good idea. Most of us can't afford a new thirty thousand dollar boat, but we can afford an older used boat. It's still a lot of fun. Just don't get into the boat tours, tied up at the dock. Those are good once in a while, but I had to drop a channel I really liked, because it became all they did. It's fun to salivate over a shiny 45 footer, but when it doesn't leave the dock, it gets old.
@@AlexGoesSailing cool little boat that, unfortunately not my cup of tea but I get appeal. If you fancy "reviewing" an Albin Ballad 30 (the best "old" singlehander and would suit your next step up imo 😉) I've set her up for the Jester challenge, Sea Feather windvane etc you'll be welcome to come for a sail in the Bristol Channel at a great little DIY sailing club NUSC.
great video can you please check your audio settings can hardly hear you speak and then the music is so loud try rewatching it on a tv over head phones
thats was a cool boat looks so fast, a second boat if you can afford it speed generally has a comfort cost keeping weight down its a serious piece of kit for speed freaks and thrill seekers i,d love one ,its like owning a car your have an everyday abuser scratch and dent mondeo and for special occasions you bring out the convertible porsche or merc
Awesome episode Alex. That must have been fun at 15kts. Depends what sort of sailing you want to do but the Round the Island on one of those would be super fast. Bit restrictive for over nights but for you what you do at the moment that isn’t a problem. Andy UK
Get one! It’s looks like a heap of fun 😁 a great mix with all the benefits of trailerable single hull you can sleep on but the fun of a multi hull, now where’s my wallet…
Greatly appreciate the video. Cats are better than monos, and tris are better than cats. Not just in terms of performance but also stability and safety. The maths of it is that trimarans are the hardest to flip. Cats next, and monos worst. It's not opinion; it's in the stability equations, and real world experience. Technical tip: please use lapel microphones for much better audio. They are not very costly. The Rode ones seem very popular.
@@AlexGoesSailing Aha, I saw you got a Telstar. Great choice. Will need to check out more of your videos now. Just started with this one. Thanks again!
We affectionately refer to multi-hull sailing as going over to the dark side. Not sure why. Sailing a trimaran it's hard to go back to mono. Typically cost is a factor tri's tend to be a premium choice. Light to tow, shallow can be beached or not a big deal if the tide goes out & left high & dry. Fast very fast points like a monohull unlike a cat. Typically you give up some down below room & make that up with the deck space. As you can probably tell, I love trimarans!!! Cheers from Northern California!!! Former F31 Corsair owner currently have a Windrider 17. I'm looking for my next cruising Tri.
So Googling the Windrider 17, it was designed by Jim Brown. Jim is a legend in multihulls along with Chris White, James Wharram, etc. Unfortunately out of production?
Alex obviously never heard of catamarans or trimarans or even windsurfing or kitesailing before. he might want to explore the world of sailing a bit. So many used trimarans and catamarans for sale. You can get them for free now.. Like my brother said the cabin is so small you need to go outside to change your mind.
As someone who owns a 20 foot ian farrier Tramp trimaran, this is an awesome little boat. Better than mine, and mine is great for camping and sailing the coast. They are not too wet if you don't push them but in 20kn, wear a raincoat. Anything up to 15 you can stay dry. I would totally get one of these if not too expensive.

Thanks Tommi! The multihulls have been tempting me for a long time now. The speed and small draft appeal to me!
Awesome bit of sailing alex so much fun when you get up to the higher speeds
Yeah it’s great fun and it’s definitely a different way of sailing compared to what I’m used to!
Great review! Looks like a really fun boat and I'm a big fan of that outboard!
Yeah I really liked the outboard! It has regeneration which is cool but it need a good bit of speed to get a lot of power in!
You could probably recharge it with even a small solar panel couldn't you?
@@carlamerritt490 definitely can. It also has regeneration which is awesome!

Exactly! Meraki can only go so fast and the speed would make the adventures bigger! Trimaran definitely on the cards if I can.
I have a question, can you expand and retract the floats while on the water so as to come into a marina and fit into a regular berth.
Thank you
Yes you can!
So are you going to start moonlighting as a boat salesman? If you are, it's cool, so long as you take them out like this one. It was a good time.

It's not settings; it's the lack of a lapel microphone.
That's a brilliant review
I really like the boat it's very fast but very wet
Great choice Alex ☮️
Thanks Gary!
I think you should buy one if Astus still manufactures the boat.
It is about time for a new boat!

Yeah it was great fun and great for a long weekend away at most. Would be fun on the round the island race!
This thing may be rapid, but it also looks wet. It's cool, but I think I'd need a bigger dryer one.
Yes very fast but definitely a little wet when you push it. Wouldn’t be all that bad if we went at a reasonable pace😁
@@AlexGoesSailing reasonable pace? As hard as she will go is the reason for a boat like that 🤣🤣🤣
whats its limit for the winds please
Limit for the wind in what regard?
Great review Alex!
Thanks! more to come soon ⛵️
She looks like a lot of fun to sail. Definitely get one if you can afford it. What is top speed.... done safely?
Maybe closer to 20 if you are crazy haha. Was definitely a great boat!

Go get em alex
Thanks Tim!!!😀
Love it.
Lord that little boat has a stack pack for the mainsail! Not a dry ride is she? 🤣
Was definitely a fun ride! Completely different from Meraki!
You absolutely should get that boat, or 24 and the race you were just in….what would happen!
It would be interesting to see how it would do in the race compared to Meraki. The 24 is a good size!

Get one! :))
Is there really any doubt if you should get one? 😂
NO, The is to wet summer time only limited use.
Any small boat going that fast is going to be wet....
Get a tri...or not
That is the question!
@@AlexGoesSailing imho, tri's are the best boats afloat...well, for that brief moment they are right side up ;)
@@astrayalien that’s true😂
Trimaran is a way monohulls meant to be.
