I enjoyed this video very much. I like the stories, I like how you got her picture painted on a seashell, the dolphins for the captains wheel, (I like the octopus idea) the footage of you working the sails, and the aerial shots, just a great video all the way through. Twilight is a cool Trimaran. Y’all stay safe and keep posting.
John Marples is a brilliant designer and engineer and was a marine surveyor for many years. I have the utmost respect for John and I'm not surprised at all that Twilight served you so well. He's also a character.
Thank you, 😊 not going to the Ocean without Ducktape. 😊. I stopped painting.. Maybe when we back on the Ocean I start again. 😊 Thanks for your apriciation. 😊
Beautiful entrance under sail, minimum use of engine, just perfect! I too remember the nervous tension when heading out, for me not for an ocean crossing, just for a race.
Thanks Simon. Wherever possible we love to be under sail the engine is just for back up for us. For me even more than Arie the nerves rise up but I feel calmer the minute we are out on the sea, until we come back in! Where are you based in the world . Cheryl ,🙂
We miss the Ocean. This day sail brought back memories. Editing those memoeries into this Episode made us realise how special it al is. We want to be back on the Ocean as soon as possible and the plans are in proses for our next Atlantic crossing. We hope This episode inspires you. Contact us without hesitation if you dream of living on the Ocean. Cheryl and Arie
The RUclips Algorithm served me up one of your videos, this evening, and I am so grateful! Thank you for living your life, making your videos, and sharing them with the world. You encourage me to do likewise, in my own little way.
First mesage of our new day. So nice thank you. 😊 A great way to start seeing that others get inspired, we be very happy to stay in contact. 😊 And help where we can. Warm greetings Cheryl and Arie
How fantastic to see Dawn moving again and the months of hard work all coming together. Brilliant! You both should be so pleased and happy, huge achievement, well done!!
Thanks, thats maybe one for a future episode when we are sailing twilight again there is lots of photos and film, am sure it will be something that we do one day ☺️
Your story at the beginning is what I want. I’m happy that the trip to the Caribbean you had was life changing. Very interesting and entertaining to hear your experience.
What a wonderfully beautiful video. Batteries recharged?? It looked and sounded that you really enjoyed yourselves. You have a way of narrating that makes me feel like I am part of the family. Don't feel that you have to work work work. Keep your batteries topped up. Thx for taking the time to film for us.
Thanks Carey great advise it's hard not to be forever in the go but it's the reason why we live the way we do to make sure we dont do that. We really welcome your comments and it's those that keep us making the footage and sharing our piece of the world. Are you a fellow sailor?
@@tentmaran I was in my youth on the west coast of California, USA. I learned to sail on a Hobie Cat in San Diego, CA in 1972. Life happened and I am now land locked. I do miss my sailing adventures. You might want to say the sea got imprinted on my soul. I never lost my love and passion for the open seas. That is the reason I enjoy your channel so much. Your enthusiasm for what you do helps me remember the good times on the water and the great people I met sailing. Ever since I saw my first Trimaran ripping across the water I knew that is the boat for me. If I were to purchase a boat it would be a White design, the 54 foot Hammerhead. Trimaran Twilight and Trimaran Dawn hold a special place in my heart. I saw the first video of yours when you found Trimaran Dawn. It was the video "Saving a 1982 Ostar Racing Trimaran" . Been glued to your channel ever since.
Well here or via email ( it's inthe channel description )we more than happy to keep in touch. The hammerhead is a gorgeous design and fully understand why you'd want one. Once the sea has you I don't think you ever let it go but am sure you have some adventures of your own, please keep in touch, it's what makes the channel enjoyable for us
I luv the story. I just got my recharge went out to my local lake with my power boat, had a blast I need to go sailing !! Thanks for all the tips I’ve learned alot from you
Your welcome. I've never even been on a power boat other than a short tourist trip, it must be fun! But something about the waves keeps me calm. Glad your recharged, your welcome here anytime! Cheryl
First video, 2 mins in, I hear about ? Rinki Dink? and ya got me, easily subscribed just because now I gotta see all your episodes out in my favourite sea faring vessel , the gorgeous trimaran.
Did you build hunky dory?? She's beautiful!!! I'm from the midwest Just a state south of where Mike Plant was born and raised. After hearing his story and how he spoke of the open water I've been intrigued ever since..the same way you and him along with other sailors describe it is the feeling that I have felt from riding my Harley across the America on trips...after you have felt that feeling its calming and leaves no doubt that this whole place including ourselves are created because everything works together and fits together with such beauty and perfection.. I haven't checked out all your videos yet but I really enjoyed the story of your lives ..
Yes I build Hinky-Dory. From bits and pieces of abandoned catamarans. Always preferred the very rounded shapes. She is worth to be drawn so others can build it, a great Trimaran to spent months on the Ocean.
@Living on the Ocean I also seen your last boat, it's probably the same one we're talking about now in a video from a few years ago on a channel called Adventures of an Old Seadog.. he had just bought a sailboat and you took him out and showed him how to get out of there without having issues. You cooked for him and hung out.. the boat was amazing
I’m planning on cerci navigating in a few years, when I retire. My question is this; wouldn’t I want extra cabins to store enough food, water, sails and parts to stay out for months if I break down or another pandemic happens?
Your best plan is to know how your boat works, how to fix things and carry the basic spares. Watermakers are an incredible invention, fish can be caught, and dried, packets or food can be stowed quite well if you stack and plan, a little space has to go a long way!
Hi, fully understand your intrest. But also need to take the new owner situation in acount. 😊 I hope you understand that it would maybe not nice to share that info. 😊 I miss that trimaran.. And the new owner did a awesome job finishing it.
Hi Dennis, you made us laugh 😂 thanks, any preference on how they oppose to each other.. We just came uo with a 90 degree turn. Al jumping forward.... Or back... 🤔
Hi we happy to hear from you, This Dolphins 🐬 are tricky. So many options, we can also turn them 90 degrees. So they all swim towards the sturn or the bow. 😊
@@tentmaran I was thinking only 3 dolphins with such a small connection might be a bit weak, the other reason for 6. Look at other wheels, when the connection to the rim is small there are more spokes, when there are only 3 spokes they are usually 2-5cm wide where they connect to the rim and hub. Strong first, beautiful second.
Thats a good point. 😊 👍👍 Input like this is much aoriciated... 🤔 It will take a while befire I can start making them, time to consider the options. It be intresting to calculate one day what forches com on the wheel. 😊 Or have a clever persone sharing the info. 😊
@@tentmaran Unfortunately I don't know the forces, but there will probably be a formula for leaver force the spoke (dolphin) would be the leaver in this calculation, the force is applied to the wheel at one end of the spoke and received at the hub at the other end, the maximum shear strength of the key/bolt on the hub will be the maximum force at the hub end, and there is probably a documented figure for the maximum force a human can impart by pushing/pulling for the maximum force at the wheel end of the lever, it's been well over 30 years since I studied any engineering so i've forgotten more than I remember but I think that would cover the basic principles.
Thanks, 😊 again, its nice to get people involved in creating solutions that work. I personaly can nit imagin that a human can break a carbin construction. It has to be very small. 😊 But as you saud strenght abive beauty fir sure..it must be worked out before we start it. 😊 Your help and input taken into it. Its fun to do it togethet this way with people from al over the world. 😊 Warm greetings from us. 😊
im interesstet in sailing since two years. i specialy like trimarans. the downparts are price/low weightstore and the doublespace in habour. but for the higher price you have allso a wider space. In the case of a trimaran, a reduction in weight significantly influences the handling compared to a monohull. This is because maintaining a lighter weight is crucial, leading to enhanced overall performance. and whit a tri you can compfortly stay in anchor. so its a lot faster. its more photovoltaik capacity. i have a low juicer. this two years i made a lot of juice. especially good are the juiced herbs. zzzzppp thru the juicer and you have some kind of medizindrink. its so easy. ... hmmm okay trimarans and slowjuicewr thats it.
Ah keeps your food supplies light with a juicer recepie for every meal, and then you an still sail the Trimaran dream. There are plus and minus for every type bit we prefer the motion of a tri ove a mono or cat. Each to their own. We hope you find your own

Aww that's lovely thankyou. We hope to enjoy more trips and adventure s, 🤞🤞hopefully heading for the ocean again later this year!
Like sailing a dinghy, so much more stress free than Dawn
Yes you do right..small is sooo much nicer
It is always very peaceful the way you are telling the stories of your trimarans and of your trip on the ocean. It is a real pleasure.
Many thanks the sailing is what we love but to be able to sail the building has to be done. But the sailing is what keeps us going 👍😃

You found a new family member.
We have! And he's a sound seadog!
My vote is for two sailors facing up to a mermaid
