  • I fixed it! Such an accomplishment to diagnose such a problem and then go fix it:). I am a happy camper to say the least. This video will show you what to do if you get the 2A7A code on a BMW engine N52 or N52, possibly the N54 too.

Dont use steel bolts. Use aluminum. The head the block the cam adjusters are made from a magnesium aluminium alloy. Magnesium will corode and crumble against steel stainless steel brass cooper titanium. So aluminium is the only option on these engines 😢

It’s only a recall for SULEV vehicles. And the mileage of the warranty varies by state. If I lived in California, this would of been covered. The recall was for the actual bolts, which were only covered/replaced under warranty according to my knowledge.

@@OregonMotorcycle you’re right. I forgot about that. What was BMW thinking 🤦🏽‍♂️. I contacted a local dealer and they told me my 2011 328xi has the bolts recall, but.. they said there’s no solution for the bolts at this time. 😳. I said, there is, so I guess they don’t want to do the work. I rather do it myself. And I have the oil sweat between the head and block between the solenoids and the coolant flange. It’s said the bolt under the intake manifold is the culprit, but the bolt head is in tact. So, I’ll have to buy new four bolts and retorque the front of the head when I replace the vanos bolts.

I’m sure my radiator will fail as soon as the sulev warranty expires. Lol. I’m in NY so the sulev warranty is covered, but after what the dealership said about the vanos bolts, I rather do it myself. I just don’t trust anyone anymore. And the PO didn’t take care of the car. So I fixed it all up, running like new so I’ll be damned if I let some dealership who doesn’t want to work touch my car.
