Yes it has been for sometime. However the mileage is state dependent. In Oregon, it’s 80k so I’m asked out. If I lived in California I might have got the whole motor replaced.
Thank you for your vid help, I'm in the process of installing steel bolts in my 2011 x3 M52. Did everything work out long term? It seems like bmw is trying to hinder that upgrade and wondered if there might be mysterious reasons for soft bolts... I hope not!!!
You can do the work yourself. There are videos online with good shortcuts from BMW pros. From what I have seen online. Getting the valve cover on and off is the hardest part. Bimmerpost forum is your friend for this.
Got the valve cover off last night. 3 of the 4 bolts are sheared, but still in place. Meaning I don’t have to pull the oil pan to retrieve the bolts. That was a lil good news;)
Damn sorry that sucks! I'm excited to see if you can fix it, keep us updated👍
I had 330 and 335. 335 was a beast. The best car I had.
Fix it and enjoy it again.

My 2011 128i is throwing 2A7A and 2A87 codes. I’m hoping it’s just the vanos solenoid and not something worse.

@@OregonMotorcycle that’s great news. Nothing worse than playing hunt the pieces.
This is the reason y we must not buy these bmw just get a Lexus 350
Try finding one that's not a POS for under $10K now
🤷♂️ I like bimmers;)
Higher performance equals higher maintenance.
