Gene's jump kick at 1:16, and Paul's epileptic spasm at 5:50…now that's entertainment, folks.
+Christopher C. I notice also everytime paul did his leg kicks, he holds his hip. lack of stretching may be the culprit, lol.
+Christopher C. really funny
Paul had 1 or 2 hip replacements because of the old makeup days playing in the platform shoes, it messed him up!
C. C. Paul was doing an impersonation of what a fish does when you catch it and first pull it up out of the water.
C. C. ,Totally agree !!
People can say all they want negative about Vinnie Vincent, but what is true is that Vinnie along with Eric Carr put KISS back on the map.
Pretty much true.Creatures was one of the best albums ever. Thanks to Eric pushing them to do something heavy and Vinnie helping write some good songs.
Word!
Jeff Bear It had nothing to do with Eric Carr !!!!! They had planned on making a heaver album ..in fact they had to , it was do or die at this point as they couldn't even tour after The Elder was released due to low sales. There record label insisted they make a hard rock album after the last 2 albums didn't sell well + the fact that attendance numbers were dropping since the Dynasty Tour ..there popularity was dwindling due to over saturation, movie, kids toys, etc and Dynasty & Unmasked were very poppy sounding in order to reach more audiences + there costumes were looking like they were on there way to Vegas ...Leather & Studs to colorful bright colors,etc..They were ina do or die position and they had to keep it secret that Ace had left the band as they wouldn't have got there regular advance. Paul even went to Ace's house and begged him to stay in the band. They had 3-4 guitarists do the 'Creatures album with multiple sonf writers including Bryan Adams + 'Rock & Roll hell is a BTO song which Gene just added another verse. They had a lot of help on this album (Craetures) to make it what it was . Vinnie co-wrote 3 songs and played on more.
Emily Beck The production was definitely heavier then the last 3 KISS albums ..it was necessary in attempt to win fans back. It was Michael James Jackson I believe who produced Creatures Of The Night and he mixed the drums a bit too high in the final mix in my opinion. Good album , has its weak points but compared to what came after , ya good album !
I had been a big Vinnie Vincent & Eric Carr fan back then, they spiced Kiss up.
They need to Release MORE "Lick It Up/Asylum/Creatures" era Complete pro shot shows on DVD/Blu-Ray... also UNCUT,UN-EDITED unlike the Kissology's. That be killer
D.G.A. SAMHAIN ,I am not sure they have good pro shots from the era.
I’ve talked to Bruce personally , there is no pro shot show from the asylum tour. Which sucks.
Because that would show how important VV was to Kiss and Paul can't live with that.
@@giraffesareselfish9563 lol no its because there arent any full pro shots from the creatures, lick it up or asylum era lol.

Saw them on this tour in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1983. 1 of the best gigs I’ve ever been to
This tour and album is amazing
How could they all jump around, kick, play, and sing still so well. This is quality content
a lot of rehearsals
Paul's :dancing",,, the last time I saw dancing like that it was on the end of a rope.
Haha My favorite Paul 'dance' was from that in-studio set they did of all Elder tunes right after the Elder was released. I think that it was during the song, 'I'. Paul pouts his lips, puts his arms to his side, sticks his chest out as far as he possibly can and starts shaking his chest side to side. It was very, very off. It was like he was trying to be 'manly', but in reality, he looked the exact opposite of manly. hahaha I still wonder if Paul could be gay..but doesn't even know it himself. I have a friend who is clearly gay..but at 33 year old, he still occasionally dates girls. I once asked him straight up... "Andrew, brother...are you gay man"? He said, "Do you know what Mike...I don't think so. Honestly speaking, I have never really thought about it..So maybe I am..but I don't think so". hahaha. I think that Paul might be like my old friend, Andrew. Gay but doesn't even know it.
No sé si es gay Paul. Tampoco me importa lo q sea a mi me encanta y su energía la gasta bailando. Si al caso sería afeminado. Y aún lo veo así q viva Paul ❤❤❤❤❤
I seen KISS on this tour and they kicked ass, Vincent did a great job and did one hell of a solo. Gene tripped and busted his ass and the whole stadium laughed, all together a great show.
I love this. Musically, this was Kiss' best lineup. R.I.P. Eric Carr, you were a helluva drummer, and, more importantly, a helluva guy. Vinnie, you gave this band a sorely needed kick in the ass. Wish you had been treated better, and that you treated others better. It's never too late to do the right thing and go out with a good conscience. Rock our world one last time, VV. Treat your band, fans and everyone around you right. That's something you'd never regret.
Drew, you just said a cotton-pickin' mouthful. I couldn't agree more. If Vinnie could patch himself up, he could still make a splash with a late-life comeback. Years ago when Ace sobered up, he made a damn nice comeback for himself. There's no reason Vinnie can't unleash that songwriting of his, once again. and rock 'n' roll!
I don't think Vinnie's got the same skills he used to have anymore, judging by the footage from the recent vault and Kiss cruise shows
This show kicked ass in Long Beach, CA, at the arena. I was 14 and it was freaking killa!
The Trooper dude, I went to that show. Fucking melt my face off!

Funny how Vinnie played just fine Paul.
💩
He's ok
It’s not that they thought he was playing better than them. He was playing his solos much longer than he was allowed to. The typical solo for the lead guitarist in kiss usually lasts about three minutes Vinnie’s solo here went went for six. They had to skip to songs on their list in order to go right into the finale because Vinnie wasted so much time. This wasn’t a one time thing then he did it multiple times when he was told not to. This combined with scams, he pulled on fans to get more money for himself is the reason why he was kicked out of the band.
Thats a matter of opinion. Sure Vinnie is a good guitarist he just wasn't a good fit for "KISS". But do to desperation, timing and the upcoming tour they weren't left with much choice & so they gave Vinnie a chance
°BUT Vinnie thought he was more valuable then he really was and wasn't satisfied with the contract he was offered.
For a guy who was couch surfing & broke as fuck prior to being offered a spot in"KISS" Vinnie used this oppertunity to put the spotlight on himself over playing songs & solos which didn't sit to well with Gene & Paul nor would any other big name band tolerate such behavior which led to his dismissal in mid 1984.
Vinnie has control issues and in my opinion if he had simplified those 2 VV Invasion albums down and made them more radio friendly I think the VV Invasion would've been much more successful BUT Vinnie knows best rite ...not!! and when you remove the egos and make it about the songs instead of songs which revolve around a non stop guitar solo, in other words when you take Vinnie out of the mix you get a band which sells a
2X Platinum album
~"SLAUGHTER"~
Who wrote a song which describes what Vinnie is best known for and sadly what he will be remembered for & that song is called :
"Burning Bridges"
~R.I.P. or in HELL VINCENT -CUSANO~
Holy Crap! I've been looking for more VV footage for years~ great vid!!!
Saw this tour Worchester, Mass. It was one of thee loudest shows ive ever seen. Seen Priest, Metallica, Purple. Great show & Eric Carr was a monster drummer. R.I.P
C'était mon premier concert, j'avais 12 ans, mon frère 20 ans, m' a amené là. Lick it up tour a Paris Balard 1983. Grand souvenir. Super show, super ambiance.
Vinnie's playing absolutely melts my face!!! What a talent he was
within this line up with Eric and Vincent kiss was the best metal act in the 20th century I LOVE IT LOUD!
+TheVincent666 No way this line up sucked ass. Vinnie sucked, Eric Carr was awesome, but Vinnie sucked so bad he made the whole band suck massive ass.
It’d be great if a quality soundboard existed of this show because it’s a very good representation of that era.
I wish they would release an official dvd of a Lick It Up tour concert with excellent audio and video quality. There must be a master copy somewhere.
If they do that they'd have to pay Vinnie V. Not gonna happen. @@nuffsaid783
playing an instrument and singing is a very underrated talent. doing both while dancing is very rare. hard to think of anyone other than Paul that does it. granted not the most talented guitar payer, but a world class front man.
They're playing with energetic raw pasion.
Like a phoenix rising.
Finally, A full KISS show with Vinnie Vincent Lick It Up Tour. Thanx Bro.
Vinnie Vincent...THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who does Gene keep pointing at? He must be trying to get the hot dog guy's attention,
Gene was signaling to the Security guy to get that fat chick & take her backstage for later ...Gene's idea of a happy-meal "LoL"
He is pointing to hotties. Never read a Kiss book or seen a documentary.?
He’s probably pointing at girls that he sends his road crew out to see if they want to meet the band.
@@a.azazagoth5413 Or the Nachos guy.
Slutty chicks he wants to fu#k after the show.
Musically, this was Kiss' best lineup. Vinnie gave Kiss a big kick in the ass when they needed it. We got two great records with this lineup: Creatures and Lick It Up. After Vinnie was fired, the rest of the albums went by the wayside. Eric Carr was a great drummer. R.I.P. Eric. I just wished that Gene and Paul had treated Vinnie better. Of course, he could have done the same. Paul is a mega-egomaniac. Gene is a close second.
33:13 Paul writes in his biography that during VV's solo they all went off stage and eventually Paul felt he had to end it by calling at the audience. VV was extremely pissed off by that after the show.
Phillip H Anselmo
Paul is the biggest megalomaniac in the world. He couldn't stand anyone else getting some cheers.
Vinny was a very good guitarist under the delusion that he was one of the greats. When you think you're better than you really are, the music suffers and you make an ass of yourself. It's called hubris.
@@Shaylok You just described Paul and Gene 100%. Neither are as good as they think they are.
Vinnie had a lot to learn and was soon kicked out after only being in "KISS" for a blip in time, a mere 18 months out of there '50' year career.
Thank you for the upload man. I really hope we get this and/or Creatures Off the Soundboard in the future. The three tours of Creatures/Lick it Up/Animalize were pretty intense. Like it was 1974/1975 again and they were making a name for themselves. They had so much fire and intensity
Gotta love Paul's cheerleader kick @ 1:04 and Gene trying to jump like David Lee Roth.
they are going nuts without the boots !
+Ilovecheaptrick I only wish Paul wore his cheerleading skirt on stage.
LMAOF!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Ilovecheaptrick Gotta love? I think you meant LAUGH.
This was Gene and Paul's " we no longer wear makeup but look how good we can kick" period
imagine how liberating it must have felt to not be wearing 8-inch platform heels on stage after a decade of dealing with them
@@gojira931 i was always surprised at how well both Gene and Paul jumped in their " make up days" boots.
thanx 4 the video!! peace
Part of what made KISS big was a combination of things and one being we could not see KISS before 1982 when MTV came along. KISS was a mystery. The only way to see them was to go to a show yet so many people couldn’t go and even more kids couldn’t go. Once they were visible on TV and people that could buy VHS tapes of shows it was all over
Vinny vincent rules!!!!!!
Rules what? qe are still waiting for a new album from Vinnie who hasn't released anything for 36 years?
I saw this show at Radio City Hall in NY with Accept opening up on their Balls to the Wall Tour - It was fucking great - I had been an original Kiss fan and my first two concerts were Kiss at the Garden 1977 on the Love Gun tour - went two of the three nights - I kind of stopped paying attention to Kiss after Love Gun as I started getting into Rush, Rainbow, Judas Priest, ACDC, etc. - But Creatures of the Night brought me back
Kool😎
I had been looking for something like this for a very long time. KISS hardly shows or talks much about Vinnie. I always thought instead of the Animalize Live Uncensored Video, they should have released a full length concert from the Lick It Up Tour on video.
We all have periods in our lives we wish we could erase or forget.
vinnie shredds his ass off love it!!!
vinnie is soo killer on this. ^_^ just like i memberd live. the good ol dayze
The last great KISS lineup with their super heroic posture and ability to create to music that goes beyond this world. Hail Mach III.

Vinnie blows his nose into his right hand then rubs it on Paul!
I am watching this hoping to see all this talent Vinnie has. I still don't see it. He does the same run over and over again.
the most overrated guitar player in rock music
40 years ago to the day . Was at the Toronto show a few days
Later.
Very kool😎
Saw this tour in October '83.
Paul mentioned in his book about Vinnie’s extremely overlong solos and the one here in this show in particular. He and Gene walked on stage and cut it off. Vinnie was ticked.
Vinnie was a tick
March 12, 1984Quebec City, QuebecCanadaColisée de Québec where is the guitar solo that Vinnie did according to WIKIPEDIA
Vinnie was their greatest guitarist. Great songwriter and a freak with the guitar
Complete musician
no wonder Paul needed hip surgery....shame they turned into two of the biggest weenies in rock n roll, sure had some magic in their day. thanx for posting the Vinnie footage
I have a hard time just walking away. KISS with the first band I became a "huge" fan. Part of me thinks "it's better than no KISS." I can't imagine a world where KISS isn't an active band. I realize that day is probably not that far off, but still... Even if I pretended to "walk away from it all," I would still be posting comments on videos and what not, just like you.
When I saw this tour I remember thinking well at least the new guy is a performer and knows how to work the stage, which was entertaining. To then later hear that Paul hated that is disappointing. Is it about a good show, Paul, or about you?
Vinnie is great
Vinnie rules!
Rules what?
@@naturalbornscorpio929 His part.
Actually, Vinnie Vincent amounted to the highest record sales in Chrysalis Records history with The Vinnie Vincent Invasion album in 1986 (over UFO and Blondie) as well as with the All Systems Go album in 1988. Vinnie Vincent is a great Guitar Player/ Songwriter. Obviously, he made an outstanding impression while having been in KISS enough for him to be requested to co-write on the Revenge album.
Vvv 👍
Gene and Paul were desperate after Hot in the shade! And Vinnie is a good songwriter.
Are you sure about that? That is the same label that Billy Idol and Huey Lewis and the news started out with. Also Vinnie is a terrible negotiator! He signed an 8 album deal for only 4 million dollars with Chrysalis records and the label released him in 1988.
lol not true. Almost everything that was spewed out about the Invasion was complete BS publicity. "highest record sales in chrysalis records history, " absolute rubbish. Huey Lewis`s album Sports was released in 1983 and sold over 7 million copies in the USA alone., and that was just one album by one artist on the Chrysalis roster!
You have been misinformed or you are just spewing lies
VV Invasion only sold 300,000 copies at best & ASG only sold 200,000 copies. They dumped Vinnie and "SLAUGHTER"s 1st album SOLD or went 2X PLATINUM and went on to have a successful career & still tour till this day.
WTF has VV done lately ...NOTHING vut cancelled performances & more vroken pronises as he milks his remaining fans of their money being a grifter/scammer/con-man.
Paul's wearing a diaper? and practicing for a part in a karate movie? I'm confused!
Cocaine...
ACCEPT was the opening band.
Successful. Not about money, more about the musical integrity and the fans that had followed them since then.
Yeah, a while back this year I happened to see an on line list of the big boys of rock, anotherwards the greatest.KISS was on it!
Bruce was suggested to KISS pre-Creatures by his brother, Bob Kulick. However, KISS didn't give it much consideration until Mark St. John was having hand issues during the Animalize tour.
Just watched this whole show. Two thing noticed. Around 56:40 ish. Paul seems aggregated with Vinne and decides to tell him to shut up, by interrupting with his guitar solo tapping even looks over at Gene twice before doing it. Mabey im just looking to much into it. But with the way things wound up makes me wonder. Lol. Was Paul jealous? Seems to come off that way to me. The second thing was All Hells Breaking Lose. That was a big suprise to me. They performed it very well to me. They should have performed that on other tours.
Vinne had already been fired once before this tour after fall outs over various things including contract negotiations. They were kinda stuck though for the North American leg so offered Vinnie a large sum to do the tour and their personal issues just got worse. Paul never ever liked Vinnie, Gene liked him a lot and that's why he ended up in the band. Vinnie went out his away to annoy the shit out of Paul on this tour because they were barely speaking at this point. After the tour they finally parted ways for good and Paul insisted on choosing their future guitarists. Incidentally Gene didn't think much of Mark St.John and thought he was a far inferior musician to Vinnie lol.

You know, it just seems to me like Gene and Paul had a lot of trouble in the 80's when it came to what to wear. I don't think they really understood a good Rock 'N Roll non-gimmick fashion sense until Revenge.
Pants over the trousers Mr Stanley !!!, Thank god for the reunion !

at the begining Paul said Bonjour Montréal !
after that it is Québec!

I saw this lineup twice and it was better than the Dynasty and Reunion shows in my opinion.
Actually one of my daughters asked if Ace was replaced by a woman (we watched Rio 83), I told her to go and clean her room and rethink her life. We became friends again a couple days later, so it worked out...eventually.
Nothingville You’re daughter was right dude!!!
Great rendition of I Still Love You

killer footage
Paul prancing around is always entertaining lool
WTF do you do? xonpared to you I wpuld say Paul is living a life you could only dream of you keyboard warrior fool.
Did hit Platinum immediately in 1986. Hate to disappoint Vinnie Vincent haters, but is a matter of fact. LOL.
I feel terrible for Vinnie. Paul and Gene always blamed him for everything, even took out their declining popularity on him. He was the one responsible for giving them a kick in the ass, and making them more heavy and contemporary! If it weren't for him, they would have kept making records about banging groupies, instead we got Creatures and Lick It Up, arguably the 2 best KISS records since the first 3!!! You notice as soon as they kicked Vinnie out, they started making shit records again!!!
I agree 110%. VV saved Kiss.
@Rex, there is some truth to what you said but as much praise as you give Vinnie for "saving Kiss" and for the songs he wrote, Vinnie was not a very nice person to the band members or the fans. so for as much good as he did in Kiss, he did the same or more bad stuff that ultimately led to his demise.
Anyonewho ever worked with him say he was amiserable cocksucker. Eric carr loved everone and even heloathed vincent
@@patrickthometz6365 There you go. I think Eric Carr is a great reference for how Vinnie treated others. i think there are many Vinnie fans that really need to admit the truth and accept that he was a bad person but wrote a few strong Kiss songs
@@javtimestwo So if Vinnie was "hard to deal with," KISS hadn't existed on Peter's unbearable side and Ace's debauched...
Yes it certainly is. Reminds me of Crispin Glover trying to dance in a scene from Friday the 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter. If you ever get a chance to see that film, you'll see what I mean.
Omg you're exactly right. Great movie.

I never saw Kiss live, had to content myself at the height of my enthusiasm for the band in '76-'77 with weekly/monthly magazine coverage (Circus, Creem, Hit Parader + special releases) and the occasional TV show (Midnight Special, Rock Concert + specials). Now that I have a chance to watch this + older shows online, I realize what complete fools Gene & Paul really are. This really is a band best left to '70s magazines, posters and vinyl.
My first concert...Cobo arena Feb 1984..
I've read both books, multiple times. Is it coincidence that Ace has decided to write a sequel to his book? Look me up after it comes out and we'll discuss what he says in this new book. Also, about Peter "hanging on..." let's see what Paul's book says when it finally comes out.
Your comment doesn't exactly say much about Peter's comments about Paul using "doctor dope" during the late 90's. G+P have been bashing him publicly for decades. Pete finally had a platform to do the same.
Uma pena o áudio ser tão ruim, pra mim foi a melhor formação do Kiss
Would be great if on this "Lick It Up Tour" KISS would have played more songs from that line up. More killer tracks from Creatures Of The Night & Lick It Up. Rock And Roll Hell, Exciter, Not For The Innocent, A Million To One, Killer, ETC. And released a pro shot of this concert.
Vinnie was a true rock star
Totally, he owned the stage and his playing tho sometimes overkill was spot on for the times and he defcould shred and added energy to the band. His songwriting as good. He helped if
Not saved them a lot.

Vinnies been the clean up man for 40 years. Twice in 1982/83 and again for Revenge. Who knows how many other secretive sessions they had. Kiss always needed songwriters around.
At an LA Forum show in January 1984, Vincent continued playing despite Stanley's cueing him to finish the solo. The two nearly came to blows in the dressing room afterward, with Stanley accusing Vincent of showing him up, and Vincent accusing the other three members of ruining his solo and trying to hold him back as a performer. They were separated by Eric Carr and Gene Simmons and a couple of roadies who tried to keep the peace. At a March show in Quebec, Canada, as the band prepared to close out their set, Vincent broke into an impromptu solo, leaving the other band members standing onstage with nothing to do. Vincent left (or was fired for a second time, depending on the source) shortly after. This time, the break was permanent.READ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lick_It_Up
very cool, but they played too fast in that period: in my opinion their music isn't made to be played so that fast

So true.
Alot of bands get too excited and play too fast in concert. It's annoying.

thats because vinnie keeps saying " while i am standing here, why do you thank me for saving this dying band, and if your nice ill teach you how to play guitar "
