I started listening to the old one and was not happy with the narrator. I was so very happy to see you say that you’d redone it. I came straight here. The other narrator made me feel anxious. This one is wonderful.
Thank you for your books! I am loving them.

Same here, as soon as I saw the new link in the comments of the first edition, I came straight here. I struggled to follow the story with the first narrator. Thank you Sally for the effort, a voice makes the world of difference to understanding and appreciating an audiobook and your books are truly too wonderful to not be understood. ❤

I really enjoyed this book! As I am caring for a family member with dementia, I loved the sensitivity to Alzheimer’s symptoms described in this story, & how they handled it with such grace. I also enjoyed the process of Oliver realizing his love for the right person for him. Very well written! The narrator did a splendid job as well.

Thank you for your kind comment. I hope your family member can feel the love and care you give them. It's an incredibly sensitive topic, and it is one I have watched loved ones go through. *hugs*

I adored this one. I'm glad I found it just after I'd begun the original version! Loved your treatment of Alzheimers. My big sister was taken from us with this disease in 2019. It must be satisfying to write books where you can "fix" the tragedies of history, at least in that way. Thanks for reading where the main characters are flawed but really decent people coping with their problems in less selfish ways. ❤

Check them out, each of them will give you a good time listening or reading. Thank you ,Sally, for so many hours of exquisit entertainment and thank you, Vicki-Jo ,for your lovely narration. I enjoyed both immensely. ❤🙋🏻‍♀ Lisa

Oh, how cute! Aren't they just adorable? I think it was in a book of Laura Kinsale's where the heroine carries a hedgehog around in her pocket. ☺ I assume that the video is for your next audio book, because I couldn't find it in this current one. I'll look forward to the new video! I smile when ever I see the pigeon. ☺ I am currently listening to this one and Unexpected Heiress alternately over and over. I wanted something familiar so that I can just awaken for a minute and smile knowing what the scene is. I don't feel like trying to follow a plot line right now. I know that is so weird, but I suspect that the lady who also listens during sleep sometimes does the same thing. 😉

Wonderful story. I particularly liked the narration. All the characters were clearly identifiable, and the male characters weren’t overly done in the attempt to make them sound masculine. Well done!

Listening for the 2nd time and once again touched by and grateful for the way you treated the subject of Alzheimer’s as well as how it affects the entire family differently. I found the father to be incredibly charming and reminding me of my own grandfather (who passed away November 2012). ❤

Really enjoyed this story, and am glad you expanded and rereleased it. Now I think I'll purchase it! Alzheimer's is so devastating and I've experienced with 2 loved ones, one of which was aware what was happening to him at the beginning. Talking with him about it was heartbreaking. Thank you for sharing.

What a lovely story through and through! The love within their family between mother and father and the sisters, the love that grew for Matty and Oliver, and the instant love for their baby. They did have diseases and conditions back then that they knew very little about. Too many were put into institutions because there was no help or hope for them. Love shines again as you tell of their gentleness and patients with the father. Well thought out. Well done! Narrator was perfect!! Love the pigeon! Thank you!

I recently came across one of your audiobooks here on RUclips, and am now binge-listening to them!! Oh my gosh!! I love them!! I'm a huge Jane Austen fan, and your books are right up my alley :). You have got amazing writing skills!!! I also love how wholesome they are! While I love romances, many are hard for me to read/watch due to explicit scenes which can activate past traumatic memories for me. Thank you for creating such incredible heart-warming and soul-nourishing content!!

Sally, I am currently listening to your new Engagement, but there are times that I prefer to listen to something more familiar. I find it interesting that I continue to return to this one to listen to. I have listened to it countless times. I did want to mention that I have noticed that you use one particular personal, intimate action that I also find special... the placing a bit of stray hair behind her ear. How funny that that is such a special, personal action that we both are drawn to. I am also prone to melt at a wink ☺, which I notice occasionally in your books. Again, thank you for your sharing of your works of labor and love with us online listeners.

This story allowed me to reminisce on my past. Freshman year of college my perky, vivacious roommate attracted the attention of the handsome drummer on our floor. He would come every night asking me how to win her heart. Two weeks later, he confessed that he looked forward to our conversions every day - that it was what he thought of during the day. He the realized that he had never gotten to talk with her at all, but he enjoyed talking with me - and he asked me out. The relationship didn't last beyond that first semester, but it's always been a wonderful memory!

As a side note to be aware of the Utube audio books find a bigger audience ( poor eye sight people that can no longer “read” or even people that are slightly have difficult reading ) audio books are favoured ( longer more to enjoy ) ( than a “cut down version of a story” like if a book is made into a movie ) cheers

@@AuthorSallyBrittonPlease give lots of hugs and encouragement to the first narrator. It's not as easy as we listeners think. She didn't give a terrible narration and the diction was clear and concise; it's difficult to adopt a different accent consistently.

Keep in mind a lot of people start and stop books, so some things are reiterated for those who are coming back from reading breaks. From a writing perspective, this is also called "reaffirming the stakes."
And...y'know...this is really not very polite considering you're getting a lovely, professionally narrated, professionally edited novella, completely for free on RUclips.

      Historical accuracy?
In blunt terms, hard to get the needed 8 or 9 kids out of an older woman before the end of her fertility.
Why 8 or 9? Figure 1 in 3 (1 in 2 for the poor) lived to adulthood. Down to 4 or 5 adult children, and slightly more than half would be girls (2 or 3).
Leaving only 1 or 2 heirs. Which was the almighty concern and point of marrying.
Times in history were not as they are now. Life was nasty, brutal, and short. High society was spared some of the unpleasantness, but not all by far.
That is where the beauty of love and romance is even more important.😊
