Awesome 80! I want one. I have an original 1996 FZJ80R GXL which has been with my sister's family since new. I finally managed to convince her to sell it to me last year. It had a genuine 83,000 kms (51,573 miles) on the clock when I picked it up. And they've never ever taken it off-road - not once. Closest to off-roading it has done is driving on unsealed roads. First thing I've done is fit new all-terrain tyres. I want to keep it relatively stock and original, but will upgrade the suspension and raise it 3" - the maximum legal limit in Australia w/o requiring an engineer certificate. I've also removed the third row seats and fitted some rear drawers. As well as a Rhino-Rack Pioneer flat roof rack. Since picking it up in Oct 2018, I've added nearly 10,000kms. I've takne it off-road, from challenging fire trails, to the beach (and anything in between). It's a keeper, and I have no plans in getting rid of it.
If it is for an apocalypse he should have gotten a 1 wire run diesel engine for it. Something that will run on anything from veggie oil to used motor oil or kerosene or diesel or gas. Something like an old 12HT or a 13bt or a 12 valve cummings. In an apocalyptic situation u want 3rd world reliability, fuel economy and a vehicle that will still run after an EMP. I wonder if he had notes or had this all in his head????
Great vid!!!
re-making an entire 80-series wiring harness from scratch with all deutsch connectors is one helluva task.
And yet now it's also one of the things on my bucket list to keep my 80 series 100% reliable.
Yeah now that is my kinda Cruiser restoration. I loved my 80 VX Series. Sadly sold it without thinking carefully. But I will get another and this video has given me some great ideas. Thanks!!!
Amazing work as always, love the craftsmanship that goes into these restorations. Joe has great taste. It is incredibly unfortunate though to see all these what should be affordable used 4x4s being bought up and turned into toys for the rich making the prices astronomical... sad to see but glad its going to someone who seems to appreciate them at least.
Dude joe has such good taste in cars
true!
Let me know when you offer stage one on 4Runners :D
Had some friends meet Joe and hangout with him. Guess he’s a pretty cool dude. Wish he coulda trained with us but still nice to hear about a celebrity you like who is down to earth and stayed humble
Holy shit this is by far the most amazing car I ever seen. I peed a little every time this guy explained all the shit they actually did on this truck... superb work...
Well then, go change your diapers.
Fantastic work on a fantastic vehicle!
Wow this is my dream build
I've been hunting for an 80 series to build for over a year.... So hard to find in the US!!
@@ewingfox6459 A lot of them are overseas now like in the middle east.
Mind blown. Wow - amazing work and engineering here! Incredible!
Joe "I drive an electric car because I'm concerned about the environment, but have a 500HP 8000 pound SUV on the DL" Rogan.
I don’t trust rogan at all, he’s anti 2nd amendment and has proven soft on global elitist looking to suppress free speech.

Outstanding attention to detail. This guys product never fails to impress!
waiting for the first ventilated seat option in in an Icon
That's all that's holding you back from pulling the trigger on one right?
Adam Mackey Smith Yep, just the A/C seat option.....plus the $200,000 price tag. But outside that, just the seats.
ya am doing a resto right now but am keeping it as stock as possible, you guys did an amazing job well done
I wonder what he paid for this thing. 3000 hours to build at $100/hr is $300k, just for labor.
How much is to do that job?
More than it'll ever return
I'm sure they gave him some type of deal
If he were to sell it, the fact he owned it alone would garner additional value. Easily $100K

Awesome 80!
That LS will be a boat anchor without infrastructure.
Stole the words from my mouth
Go Diesel or Bust!👍😉
Great client & even better builder. Nice one Jonathan
You should start a shop in Australia Land crusiers and Nissan Patrols are very popular mate.
I'd love to see these guys do a first gen Nissan Xterra supercharged (SC?)
@@BarryKennedy We don't have that model in Australia they do look like a Nissan Pathfinder but with different front panels.
Good to know. I think the Pathfinder & Xterra were based on the Nissan Frontier light truck chassis... I'd imagine Australia would have some related models?
@@BarryKennedy Yeah we had the Nissan Frontier only in the 90s.
its rogan,!,no one here has the money, plus, why you put carpet in a 4x4.??.with the 250k,he probably charged rogan, you could build 4 killer 4x4rs,SENSIBLY.with change..

Nice restoration, but those ebay chinese headlights do not belong on a build of this caliber!
Adam Chimowicz exactly! Only thing I would replace.
Easy to change ..... after they get booed enough!
For definites
Needs a set of Lightforces
Not sure I would consider JW Speaker lights "Ebay chinese". Although I agree, they do not enhance the build.

I'm guessing in the 250-300 thousand dollar range.
And here I'm thinking of 50.. well maybe in heaven then ^^
My life goal is owning a vehicle that you built. You sir are an artist!
I wish you put a modern Toyota V8 in it. The 5.7 or 4.6. The LS triggers me hahaha So does the GM 4 speed. The whole mantra of the Landcruiser is bullet proof reliability, and nothing bout this powertrain is reliable. Great job anyhoo
My sentiment exactly. The Toyota 5.7 and 4.6 are way better than any GM motor. Period. My 4.6 has 212k on it and runs as strong as new with ZERO problems ever.
