  • @MFEGoingDeep this is a special one for me, as this meeting of the rivers is what my childhood home overlooked and where I probably have spent the most time fishing as I grew up. A few smallmouth bass and sunfish, thought I might be early enough for trout and salmon but the water temp was in the high 60’s even in the deeper parts and I didn’t come across any. MANY lifetime memories made here throughout my life. Whether on my own or with family or friends, from a young kid up through to taking my kids nearby to catch their first fish. Being out there today and searching around with the drone was surreal, thinking back over countless trips and no doubt wondering to myself on more than one occasion what it looked like down in the deep water. Pretty amazing and satisfying to be able to have the opportunity to take a look!

Thanks for providing this video. I had always wondered about this area, especially how deep it was and your video provided that information. As a kid back in the 70's this was an almost daily summertime spot to fish and splash around in the water with several of my friends. As I have lived there now for over 38 years and have watched those two rivers meet everyday, recognizing the power of the rivers when they are high, seeing eagles and ospreys fishing, as well as ducks paddling around has been such a blessing and enjoyment. But the most enjoyment I have had was watching you grow as and outdoorsman and your love for nature and understanding part of your beginning started right in that area you explored in this video has been amazing for me. Even catching a glimpse at the end of you being in the canoe we used as you were a child brought back some great memories including watching you cast your Ugly Stick with your favorite lure and never wanting to come back in when it was getting late. Thanks for the memories!

Not sure when smallmouth bass made their way in, they’ve been there as long as I can remember 30+ years now and were before then. I didn’t notice any in this video but the newer one I’ve seen caught a couple times is largemouth bass. My son and I caught 3 or 4 last year.
