Porcelain stoves are the most efficient way of heating there is. In the 18th century, Swedish castles and houses used them, and they were famous for being the warmest places to live in Scandinavia, so France adopted them, too. Worth finding a way to repair the one you have. They are both beautiful and useful.
i love the relaxing filming mode of your videos. Also, both your voices are calming and grounding, its a pleasure to listen to you, unlike other chateau renovation owners who are very loud and noisy. Also, love that the artistic way of making these videos is still maintained in all the videos. Its a treat to watch them.
Thank you so much! We really appreciate that since we both get nervous on camera ☺️ Ian loves making these videos and finding creative ways to present the chateau!
@@TheBeauChateau thats funny to hear :), and i guess anyone would be nervous on camera unless they are a star celebrity :), but im glad you keep doing it anyway. We would be missing all this beauty shared with us, in the most relaxing way. Most english speakers have weird accents but yours is quite good, another treat for the ears :).
I was just going to say. Somehow you guys make these overwhelming tasks so relaxing! It's also good for my rusty french to listen to everyone speaking:) Your artistry in filming and music choices are superb.
Thank you so much! That means a lot coming from you!👌 Ian has a lot of fun filming around the domain. Golden hour always turns into drone time 😆 We love your channel by the way. You’re videos are fantastic!
To rebuild the ceramic wood stove together use a fireplace mortar that is formulated to withstand the high heat. Do not use a household or construction glue. They will not withstand the heat a fire will generate.
Both your chateau and your channel stand out among the growing crowd of RUclips chateau offerings. It's always a pleasure to watch and listen to you both and see the impressive progress the two of you are managing to achieve. Thank you for making the time to share the trials and triumphs of this enormous project with us.
The aerial images of the garden, even before being cut, reveal a lot about the design of the garden. I use images like this for my own work to assist with restoration. You guys have some very defined and clear images. I'm curious to see the courtyard once the cobblestones are cleaned. Congrats on the progress! Cheers-
You two are doing a great job. When the days hit and you're not sure and feel overwhelmed please know from the outside looking in you're doing fantastic things. Love from Ohio 🌄.
Thank you, Fran! Knowing that others can enjoy this journey with us, like you, is what keeps us excited to make more videos and get more work finished! Have a wonderful day 😊
Seeing the tractor silhouette with the château as a backdrop coupled with the music choice brought tears to my eyes. It was like it is the château started breathing again. I know, you probably think I’m nuts but it is what it is. ❤
I'm sure you know already, but the parchmarks in the garden show where there's a hard surface below, like a pathway or footings for an old wall. In the hotter months, the moisture in the earth gets blocked from being drawn to the surface and the grass above the hard feature dies off quicker than the grass around it. That garden is going to be awesome! 😎

What a wonderful gift your Grandfather gave you. He obviously saw that you loved his dream as much as he did. Inheritance tax is brutal in France as I watch another channel that the family of two brothers and two sisters couldn’t afford the tax and decided to burn the place down (leaving only the shell) and sell the land. So sad. Another utuber has bought the once amazing property and is going to try to restore it from the shell. He is not rich so it will be a life project as he can afford. Hi Daphne & Ian! This is Elle from San Francisco sending my thanks to you for sharing your story about your grandfather, Alzheimer’s, and COVID. As you spoke of your summers with him in France, I sensed how much love you have in your heart for him. Thank you, Vincent! We do our best to read all of the comments but some slip through.. You are correct! We found pictures of it from its original brochure and it looks gorgeous! Thank you for your input 😊
A lovely hard working down to earth couple who clearly enjoy the renovations of this beautiful chateau. It's a shame another well known chateau doesn't have the same attitude, there's more to life than dressing up, eating, drinking and giggling. Well done for showing us that any money donated is well spent.

That garden is going to be AMAZING!! Also I loved the roaring fire in the fireplace scene, when Ian he was gonna have some coffee by the fire, I was like oh ya, that is what I would do too!
Thank you for such great renovation/restoration/preservation content and the calm presentation. The music choices are also wonderful. It’s fun to watch you dream and discover.
Really elegantly filmed and edited video. The garden project looks vast and a great challenge. I used weed and driveway clear chemicals on cobblestones. It's much easier once applied to get all the dead grass and weeds out from the stones and the gaps between. Otherwise the problem will come back again if you don't kill off the grass completely.
Always love love love the videos . Love seeing the formation. Such a beautiful gift your grandfather left to you. You both will have a wonderful life there. So amazing
The garden will be beautiful when you've made your plans and can start. Hope the car show goes well. Happy you've had the electrician out. It's wonderful this feeling of progress. I know it's slow to you...but you're a force of two so be proud of your achievements.
It's a gorgeous stove. I'm sure France still has some artisans that are more than capable. Not only check online, but ask around the local areas. Sometimes you can only find something by word of mouth.

There is always a building dedicated to old cars....I don't know if they have it anymore but Paris hosted a trade show for convertibles and an even bigger building full of old roadsters....
Thanks for letting us know! Fun fact, after Ian got out of the military, he purchased his dream car, a 1967 Mustang fastback. Sadly he sold it before moving to France, but he hopes to have one again someday! He says he wants a 1968 Mustang GT 390 like Steve McQueen had 😄

No surprise that US electrical regulations seem odd to him, Europe runs 230 Volt for everything where In the US, Canada and some of South America 120 volt is used in the majority of the house. 240 is generally wired into kitchens, laundry rooms and garages to run dryers, stoves, water heaters, central heating and cooling, Welders etc.

Just wow, mes former Californian amies... what an adventure! Do you ever pinch yourselves hard?? Is it just an fantastic dream? 😁 The original gardens must have been on a grand scale, and designed by someone important, looking at the shadow that is still visible. Is there an existing painting or blueprint somewhere? I'm feeling there was a maze as well...so exciting! So many of the chateaux renos have had these amazing, complicated garden designs that are now sadly gone...it's wonderful to regenerate them, as they were made to complement the opulence of the extraordinary buildings such as yours 💚👑 (Have you seen the movie "The Serpent's Kiss" ?? ☺️) You're both doing a stellar job, and Ian does look like a native, a cavalier stepped right from an antique painting ... ; ) Have fun you two...😘xx
Thank you so much 😊 We haven’t seen that movie but will definitely look it up! We definitely have moments of appreciation for the opportunity we have been presented and we never take it for granted ☺️
I used to have a large stove like that in Germany, called “Kacheloven” Once every 15 years someone had to redo the grout with mortar. Check if you can find a video in RUclips. It has to heat resistant as these ovens get very hot. Dry the skins of oranges and clementines on top of it. Makes a good fire starter.
@@TheBeauChateau I misspelled. Kachelofen. The large ones hold the heat all day and it’s nice to warm your back on them. I’ve se t you a video link on how to build one.

Awesome video... The Beau Chateau, what a wonderful, magical place to call your home. I love the over head drone shots of the Chateau and its grounds. I'm only just now seeing this in early March. I was hoping you would cut back the vegetation here to find garden perimeters and delineations. It is very exciting!💗
Outstanding production quality made this such a pleasure to watch! I'm so excited to see the revealing of the original garden structures. It's like an archeological dig. The cobblestones are also going to be worth all the work to uncover. Its grueling, but the results will be magnificently rewarding.
Thank you so much! 😊 We are so excited to continue the garden project. We have so many ideas and hope to make that entire space into something special for guests to experience.

So many of the chateaux renos have had these amazing, complicated garden designs that are now sadly gone...it's wonderful to regenerate them, as they were made to complement the opulence of the extraordinary
buildings such as yours 💚👑
(Have you seen the movie "The Serpent's Kiss" ?? ☺️)
You're both doing a stellar job, and Ian does look like a native, a cavalier stepped right from an antique painting ... ; )
Have fun you two...😘xx
Thank you so much 😊 We haven’t seen that movie but will definitely look it up! We definitely have moments of appreciation for the opportunity we have been presented and we never take it for granted ☺️
I used to have a large stove like that in Germany, called “Kacheloven”
Once every 15 years someone had to redo the grout with mortar.
Check if you can find a video in RUclips. It has to heat resistant as these ovens get very hot.
Dry the skins of oranges and clementines on top of it. Makes a good fire starter.
So interesting! Thank you for sharing 😊
@@TheBeauChateau I misspelled.
Kachelofen.
The large ones hold the heat all day and it’s nice to warm your back on them.
I’ve se t you a video link on how to build one.
I can't wait till you uncover the whole garden! :D
Omg finally the video is here!!! I always get so excited when u guys posting new videos!!! Keep up the good work❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love The Beau Chateau 💕😍💕
Thank you for sharing it 🌈🕊
The garden will be amazing, but I’m so excited to see your office completed!❤️
I'm an avid follower of the chateau renovation channels, and yours popped up in my feed today, yay! A delight to watch, and I enjoyed your sense of humour. Cannot wait to watch more!
Yay! So excited for another video! Happy to have something to take my mind off of the hurricane here in Florida 💕
So satisfying see the grass getting cut…..cheers from Camarillo, CA.
Nice and relax to watch, keep the tranquil mode of filming and commenting.
Can't wait to see the cobblestone, y'all making good progress!
careful, those safety glasses are dangerous! 😂💖🦊
Great try with the cobblestones it will be beautiful later !!
The pieces of the stove are so beautiful-maybe the parts could be used as an art piece if the stove can’t be reassembled. ❤
I have just discovered your channel tonight. What a stroke of good luck. I follow many chateau owners on RUclips and your chateau is one of my all time favourites. I can't wait to follow your journey and I love the very relaxed way your videos are filmed. You are both very natural infront of the camera and a joy to watch. Good luck with your renovations.
That´s really a beautiful chateau. You are doing a great job. I noticed how everything is so cleaned inside the castle ☀And we see that you have sophisticated taste. The "corner" where you are staying is so beautiful and comfortable ! Wishing all the best to you ( including the cats and dog ) ❤
Wow! Pretty exciting to watch what’s coming next with the garden and the “parking “ for the antique cars that you were trying to clean. You are working hard and well, I love your videos!
Thank you for your support! 😊
Wow…what a lovely find in your Garden. I can just imagine each design with flowers, hedges and sitting areas. That fireplace…so jealous. Also, you had me laughing out loud with your “chain of unfortunate events” with your weed wackier.
I didn't have your channel marked for notification - I can't believe it! Lol never again. I love your channel!
Enjoyed every minute of it.. Chateau saved from decay.. marvelous!

I am just blown away. This place is so amazing.
Love watching your video's.The garden will be stunning.Just cutting the tall grass gave you a glimpse of what it will be.
What an awesome property. Love that you had to bring in farm equipment to cut the grass!
Awesome video... The Beau Chateau, what a wonderful, magical place to call your home. I love the over head drone shots of the Chateau and its grounds. A wonderful job with the cinema photography and the music in the background! You are very fortunate to be living this dream, and we are lucky to live vicariously through your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Such a beautiful and challenging life project! Thanks for sharing 💛. PS, I also enjoy the pace and serenity of this video it’s so refreshing to be able to watch something that is good for my nervous system reminds me a little of the PBS days!
You guys are Awesome - what only two of you have accomplished is Amazing..
The stove is beautiful. I like it too. Great choice.
So wonderful to see your newest videos. They are so well done and lots of fun. Hope they keep coming.
Wow!! Y'all have been busy! Everything is looking great!
