- Welcome back to Dreaming of a Chateau!
Join us this Christmas Eve for our final episode of 2022. This December we had the wonderful task of preparing the Chateau for CHRISTMAS for the very first time! This is our first year spending Christmas in France, and though it is just the three of us here, it has turned out to be an incredibly beautiful and restorative Holiday Season.
We took a weekend trip to Europes OLDEST and most FAMOUS and MAGICAL Christmas Market- located in the beautiful north-eastern french city of Strasbourg. A 5 hour train later, we arrived in this wonderful city with many german influences, where they truly know how to get into the Christmas spirit! 10 different Christmas markets cover this old medieval city... the smell of mulled wine fills the streets and at the center of the old city is one of the most magnificent Cathedrals we've ever seen.
We also had the lovely holiday surprise this December of being invited to Jenny's Chateau Farm for their Swedish Christmas Party! We meet their friends and neighbors and get a tour of their beautiful Chateau! Follow Jenny and her family's journey on their RUclips Channel @jennyschateaufarm !

Of all the chateau owners' videos, none know how to outfit a chateau like you ladies. I was so jealous of a European Christmas, the markets, the bacchcararat chandeliers in cages in the streets, the shops full of spice breads and beautiful toys, cooking wares, gifts, cloths. Oh my. The Holiday Christmas decorations in the chateau are just stunning. At night, under candle light, fire in the fireplace and LED Christmas lights, the Chateau really shines its brightest too. So beautiful. Merry Christmas to you all.

I love the way you switched the couches around but I think you need some end tables with lamps and beautiful flower arrangements on them. You could even use faux flower arrangements, if you do them right they can look very real. I bet your Mom could do it. ♥️♥️♥️♥️😘

This was another stunning Vlog! The Christmas Market was so cool but the drive back to your Chateau was my favorite- and yes it was “Darcy” lighting. For me personally I appreciate the California references regarding the stores. Your Chateau inside and out is so beautiful I think I would have a difficult time ever leaving - it’s perfect. The Grand Salon looks so inviting now. The two couches are a master stroke and the candles add a magical light. HAPPY CHRISTMAS.
I don’t know what it is about the “light” in France, but you coming home from the station, the shy had a blush on it. It is that way all over France. The light is so soft and tinted with a bit of pink. In Brittany at dusk (11PM) the sky took that same tint, only in June.
Overload of the senses, and for your Mother who paints…………..to capture that ❤

Ugg Boots were developed and manufactured in Australia. You have not seen fashion until you see Aussie gadding about in bathers and uggs at the height of a hot Aussie summer lol. Ugg boots are from Australia! From the states where it gets cold in winter, obviously not the tropical states where all they do is swim and surf 24/7! But when I heard Ugg boots I laughed! They are so toasty warm for winter…I don’t have an issue with cold feet, so I can only wear mine for 10 minutes maximum before I kick them off! We have a huge Asian market who are crazy for Ugg boots’

Had to come watch this again in December 2023 to enjoy the château from last Christmas. The ending with a tour of the decorations and that most beautiful music was so enchanting I had to watch it over and over. What was that string ensemble? Absolutely beautiful. I had to binge about seven of your videos from the day you walked in onward. Actually, I was queued into your channel by Stefanie from the château diaries, the episode where she went and took a video of the château for you. As a California girl myself I dream of living in France, probably not in a château, but certainly perhaps in a cute apartment somewhere in the south of France. I love watching what you guys have planned, and your gardens are the best I’ve seen! I’m also so in love with Troubadour, he’s such a good dog!

Oh my goodness oh my goodness the Christmas living room was absolutely enchanting. My sister Kathy is into all of this stuff and I showed her this yesterday and she was going crazy. Her and I are going to be coming to stay for three days hopefully if you’re open during Christmas season in a year and a half. We were talking about maybe two years in May but after seeing all the Christmas things at the Château, it makes me want to come down. Then we want to take a Rhine river cruise and maybe go see Italy. I just watch your videos over and over. It’s just beautiful and breathtaking what you guys are doing. What a blessing.

So glad you went to Strasbourg. I live in North-eastern France and Strasbourg and Metz are the best places to go for the Christmas market. Yes, it seems to always be dark here in the winter. I am American (from the South-east) and that took some getting used to.
The white bird on the ceramic dish is a cigogne, it mainly lives in Alsace, Strasbourg region.
Wow! So christmasy, the chateau is amazing, my ancestors immigrated to Canada from this region, they sailed from la rochelle in 1543. After watching your videos I want to go visit so bad. ❤🇨🇦🇹🇷😊. Looking forward to your upcoming videos

Happy New Year!!! There is allspice in France, look for piment de jamaique/piment a la Jamaique or le quatre espice, depending on the region you live in. Contrary to English and Spanish Piment is not the chilli pepper (pimento) in France and other mid to northern European countries, but actually the berry of some myrtle plant = Pimento dioica).

Traditionally Christmas cakes and puddings, are made in October, over the Halloween holidays.
Feeding them, with alcohol, over the months, decorate Chritmas eve
I spent Many a happy moment with my Nana and mum, from an early age, in October making cakes and puddings
I have twin sons, who are now young men, which i carried on this tradition with them 😊😊
Its a fabulous Channel im trying to watch all of them.

MIAM or yum en anglais ! I'm Canadian so grew up with it and also Christmas pudding with hard and soft sauce (try it). Hard sauce is simply icing which yu harden in the fridge. Can't remembeer what soft sauce is, but a thickish liquid, a bit sugaty.
The biggest and I think oldest Christmas market is in Nurnberg. But that's a wee bit farther away. Friche Weinachten et Joyeux Noël ! Bonnie Mme. France en France, en face de la Mediterranée, a tiny fishing villagee still bringing in the catch these more than 2000 years ! Ah notre France adorée !
