And… The award for the most charming, winsome couple on RUclips goes to… Drum roll… You both! 🫶🫶🫶🎉💕🙌🙏The more I watch you guys the more I love you. I know that sounds creepy but it’s not meant to. Lol! You guys seem to have such good attitudes and really love each other! Are you ever going to consider bringing volunteers in to help every once in a while, average folks like us?
Vinegar works great. I use 1 gallon vinegar 1 1/2 cups Epsom salt and 2 tablespoons blue Dawn Dish Soap. It kills the weeds in 2 days and is pet friendly. Your channel flows with so much ease. It is a joy to watch you grow, restore your chateau and keep your grandpas legacy. He must be so proud of you.
Tip for the ivy. Get a 1 or 2 meter rod that you can attach 550 cord (parachute cord) at the tip of the rod. Ram through the ivy as close to the wall, gather both ends of cord, attach to your tractor and pull vines off the wall. Really helps if you cut the base of the vines and wait a day or so for them to die. For your cobbles I’d add salt to your weed killer. Think Romans and Carthage. Happy Veterans Day to you too!
I Love Carthage. Found their Pegasus & Athena Coins on an Atocha 🪙 Adeventure. Jewelry Designer, a distinguished Italian Gentleman showed me my first one. I found an ancient one with vier boxes…like Microsoft’s logo…..just recently. Crypto Currency’Alta Art The Past, Present & Future (Storm Cloud Album) CK I absolutely have loved discovering The Beau Château Magnifique Wirkliche Schöne I Love The Story about The Deutsch Gentlemen going to Cambon Street in Paris to get Gabrielle & Her Seamstress Team to design clothes for them! I have been using this method for the last few years, but instead of water I put one cup of white salt in a big bottle of white vinegar and it works so great!
Thank you for your and your families service. My son was in USMC 9yrs he did two tours in Iraq and worked as government contractor in Afghanistan. I have many military vets going all the way back to the American Revolution. God bless
My son was in USMC 9yrs he did two tours in Iraq and worked as government contractor in Afghanistan . You shouldn't be proud of that . Don't reply . Not a place to have a discussion about US illegal wars in the M-E & Afghanistan
I also have a long line of military service members and a Daughter of the American Revolution member. We honor our country, our family and our God. Thank you for families service. Peace be with you ❤️ As for whom ever zur Bauk is 🤦♀️☝️ why were you the one to start the “conversation” then☝️🤦♀️ “Don’t reply”
In Canada, November 11 was Remembrance Day. Thank you to all the Veterans for the freedom we have today. Grandpa would be very proud of all the hard work the two of you have put in. The chateau is looking beautiful.
You guys make everything look like fun even tho I know it’s a ton of hard work!! What a difference every little bit makes. As always I really appreciate your videography and story telling skills. You are such a joy to watch! Thank you to all the Veterans who have served. Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
My youngest son, Yogi (Logan), was Army Reserve. THANK YOU, IAN, FOR YOUR SERVICE! You two show couples how to literally build a life together! Beautiful to watch!
Your videos are such a pleasure to watch, its like taking a peak into another reality. It has just a touch of mystery that reminds me of Christine McConnell (she leans into the glamour spooky, but the visuals and story telling are equally compelling)
Absolutely love your videos! Beautiful camera work and y’all are adorable together! What an incredible chateau! If only those walls could talk!! ❤from Texas! And Ian thank you for your service and your family’s service. My father was in the Navy during WWII.
Without even meaning to be so Australian (which I am), when you mentioned big spiders I thought “yeah but how big” 😂 But also as an Australian who hates spiders, I don’t envy you on that job!!
From the drawings in the last video I can now imagine the massive size of the Chateau 400 yrs ago with the four round corner bastions actually foundations for massive round fat turrets. The center must have been a large courtyard. Imagine the place filled with handcrafted luxury rooms and furniture. It didn't make sense that the Medici queen would come from the current smaller Chateau rebuilt after some typical terrible fire!
It's not often you hear someone say, ‘Our moat gives us quite a bit of anxiety. Now I have seen your moat in all its glory, I know why it could make you anxious.
I love how your kitty acts like the watch guard and the kitty inspector. Same with your puppy. Your choice of music is relaxing and a comfort to watch the video. I hate it when people put loud, irritating music that doesn't vibe with the type of channel they are trying to sell to an audience. Your music and videos with the drone are lovely. I love the aerial views of the property.
Thank you for sharing! We played it safe with this test spray and had a very diluted vinegar solution. If there is no effect then we will try something more effective 👍
What an amazing transformation.....great work guys. It is so satisfying watching ivy being removed and seeing the clean up. Thank you for taking us along on this wonderful journey. You are such a lovely couple and I really enjoy all that you do. Thank you!
You guys are awesome! Happy Veterans Day Ian! Thank you for your service. My husband was in the 82nd- his father was Army- mine was marine. Both WW2 veterans.
Thank you! Happy Veterans Day to your loved ones as well! 🇺🇸 We are thankful for the service of those who came before us. Military service is a real test of character which I believe speaks volumes for all of the young WWII soldiers at that time. Much love to our Veterans and active duty brothers and sisters 💕
Such a beautiful playground you two have. Glad you got the ivy down before it brought the walls down. Surprising how strong ivy is over time. Looking forward to the next project. Enjoy your week.
Ian thank you for your service and the rest of your family. Love watching your channel you guys are fantastic young and so talented. Looking forward to all your renovations 😊 thank you
Vinegar does work! There is a scientific paper on the subjekt and also it is used in many swedish communities just because it is not poison. There is special vinegar you buy ready to use. You have to treat several times (just like burning, the roots are still intact). In new areas to treat you have to treat minimum 2 times a season. Do not use salt.
Just found your channel and have been watching all of them and my face hurts from smiling. You guys are too cute and so fun to watch. Your Chateau is gorgeous and romantic. Can’t wait until the garden is done. Thanks for sharing.
The recipe for the weed killer is 1gallon white vinegar, 1 cup table salt and a generous squirt of Dawn dish liquid. I love your channel. You guys are doing an amazing job. The place looks great
Ian. Thanks for your service. I enjoy watching how you both have so much fun working together . Ian I am glad you didn’t fall in the water. Love the video Thanks James
Fun video (as always)! Here in CA Wine Country we struggle with Ivy invading the redwood , oak and pine trees. We found that (if you have time) that cutting out about 12" of the main vine at the base (where the ivy vine enters the soil) and waiting a couple of weeks the entire vine dies and pulls off the tree (or a building) easily and does not damage to tree or structure. Viola! When you are removing ivy growing 100-150' in the air on an old redwood tree it needs to be as easy to remove as is possible. LOLs! Thanks for providing my French moment today. Merci! (BTW thank you [and the thousands of others who have served] for your dedication.)
Ian made me laugh riding in the boat! I am glad they laugh about the hard things because i feel like with my family, we would just end up being frustrated lol
Standing up in the boat as it's pulled along made me think "Washington Crossing the Delaware". Gondoliers never have these problems! And they can always get pizza in Venice!
Salt goes into the water and vinegar solution. A little bit of dishwashing detergent helps this mixture to stick to what you are spraying. Best of luck, Ian!
These videos are amazing in quality and content style/delivery. im binge watching them all one by one! Thank you so much. I hope my thumbs up and comment helps you with the almighty YT content delivery gods to more viewers!
Thanks Josh! We really appreciate that 😊 Your likes, subscribes, and encouragement mean everything to us! We hope to have you back for many videos to come!
The vinegar method recipe is 1 gallon vinegar, 1 cup of salt and one drop of Dawn dish soap. Must spray generously directly on weeds during a warm sunny day. The sun helps the weeds absorb the mixture and thus helps kill the weeds. Works best in small full sun areas so I'm not sure this would be the most cost effective way to solve your problem. Best of luck to you both! P.S. I just found your channel and LOVE your videos!!😍😍 I've been binge watching for the last 3 days! Can't wait to see the rest!
We use a propane torch to burn the weeds and it works extremely well. No direct chemical contamination and they rarely grow back. More importantly, it can be used on the stone path and the building itself. Well only on stone aspects, lol....
Thank you for your service. As you can tell by my avatar, I was in the Navy Seabees and also did a few years in the Army Reserve. And yes, I was anticipating one of you to fall in. Good job.
I recommend filling the cracks with patio sand. That might help greatly. Also, it’s much easier to cut the base of the ivy and let it die before trying to pry it off. It will come away from the building with less effort.
With all that vegetation material that you clear out, have you considered getting a woodchipper? It would give make you lots of great mulch for the gardens..
If you cut the ivy at the bottom, and leave it for about a week, the ivy above the separation will all die back, making it a bit easier to remove. Consider Boston ivy, or Virginia creeper, which does not ruin building exteriors. Loving your channel from Mexico City.
Another great video even if it was all about tackling weeds and ivy. I use dawn dish soap, vinegar, water and epson salt to keeps weeds down around our fire pit. Thank you for your service!
The vinegar and water combo worked well for killing the weeds and random grass growing in my brick terrace. Have to be honest, I thought Daphne was going overboard when she went backward in the boat. You guys were having too much fun. 🙂
A roof burner on propane gas would also be effective against all the plants on the canal walls. I use it as a alternative for using poison. Compliments for the camera work etc. Impressive!
Thank you! Ian has a lot of fun shooting B-roll for our videos 😊 We have had a few viewers comment with the same tip, so now we really want to give then propane torch a try!
Thank you for your service. As a Navy wife for 21 years, I can say that from what I've seen and experienced, serving one's country is not for the faint of heart.

That was HILARIOUS ..I was telling fall in water lol .... Definitely natural weed killer with the 1 gallon vinegar / dish soap / cup of salt ... etc ...
If the vinegar and water combination doesn’t show any results, then we might add a little salt. We want to be very careful to not accidentally etch the stone with a low ph. Dish soup seems like a nice addition as well! Thank you 😄
May you always work together so joyfully. Bless you. Be careful being on a ladder and the long reaches. I shudder when I think back on the risks I took in painting high ceilings and didn't want to move the ladder for the last little bit. Better to be safe. An old grandmother from Alabama. 🥰
I appreciate your editing style Ian. Especially enjoyed the part where you were being pulled on the boat hiding your drone control. Love the music choice too, very cool.
I saw your channel a few days ago. And now i have been binge watching. What a cool place. Really enjoy watching you two. Nice job also, yall are hard working and great to watch. Full of personality. Works for me, too.
Yes, the Dawn helps it stick to the growth & not wash away so easily if it rains! As soon as he said Vinegar & Water. I said Salt & Dawn Too!
Thank you for your amazing work. You are all adorable, including the animals. Ian, you look like a true Mousquetaire :)
Thank you! 🥰 We got very lucky with our pets because they are so sweet and cute! Ian loves that compliment 😄

That is so sweet of you to say 🥰 Thank you for watching!
I have been using this method for the last few years, but instead of water I put one cup of white salt in a big bottle of white vinegar and it works so great!
You can also use pool salt, I believe, which is very cheap (like 40# for $7)
Yes the salt and a few squirts of dish soap , the soap helps cling to the weeds surface , works better on a hot dry sunny day .
To use salt is to poison the land, you can never plant anything there again…. So salt is absolutly no for the envirement.
Euh… le sel dans le sol, s’il se dissout et s’écoule dans les parterres 🥴… plus rien ne pousse, non ? À utiliser avec beaucoup d’attentions !

Thank you! Ian puts a lot of effort into choosing music, getting cool shots! We’re so happy you’re enjoying it!
I’m exhausted just THINKING of all the work you two must do to keep up that lovely place! You need to get some volunteers!
Garden vinegar (30-40%) mixed with a smaller ratio of water is what kills weeds. Works best if sprayed on a hot (70°) day.
Add drop dish soap as well
Thank you for sharing! We played it safe with this test spray and had a very diluted vinegar solution. If there is no effect then we will try something more effective 👍

satisfying time lapse of removing all the ivy. Happy veterans day, from one vet to another.
You’re without a doubt the best pirate I’ve ever heard of!

We use a propane torch to burn the weeds and it works extremely well. No direct chemical contamination and they rarely grow back. More importantly, it can be used on the stone path and the building itself. Well only on stone aspects, lol....
As I said last vlog 1gallon vinegar, 1cup salt, and tbl. Dawn. That's what I use on mine. Once does it.
You two are so 🥰. Thank you for serving 🇺🇸 🇫🇷

Clip the ivy branches. down to the ground. In time the vine will dry up and it will be so easy to pull off the wall without damage to the wall.
Thank you, brother, for the Veteran's Day greeting. Much appreciated! I had twenty-one years in the U.S. Army. I love hearing this story.
Another great video even if it was all about tackling weeds and ivy. I use dawn dish soap, vinegar, water and epson salt to keeps weeds down around our fire pit. Thank you for your service!
You got a lot of “accidental exercise” getting these jobs done. Another wonderful video. Thank you for your service Ian!
I’m glad you didn’t fall in the moat! Great video you two…..thank you for your service! 🇺🇸🙏🏽❤
The vinegar and water combo worked well for killing the weeds and random grass growing in my brick terrace. Have to be honest, I thought Daphne was going overboard when she went backward in the boat. You guys were having too much fun. 🙂
To clean the cobble stone quickly and efficiently you could try hiring a car park cleaning machine with a wire brush sweeper
I could watch videos all day of your beautiful property and of course your château! Thanks
You guys are a lovely couple and so soft spoken. Can’t wait to see your German papa with his mustache!!! Please keep posting more videos.
As a Navy wife for 21 years, I can say that from what I've seen and experienced, serving one's country is not for the faint of heart.
and that cobblestone is amazing!!!
Absolutely love you two!
Just finished watching a second time.
Ian’s story about the spiders was hilarious.
Such hard work but little by little it will get done.
Thank you for your service, Ian.

You won’t be disappointed, vinegar and water always kills weeds best!
Such a beautiful place..❤
Vos montages vidéos sont toujours bien pensés ! Ce chat est bien dans le cadre 😄 ! Bravo pour ce travail - d’équilibriste- pour arracher tout ce lierre 😮💨 !

Love your video content! Especially enjoyed the music... such a gorgeous and idyllic setting for this fabulously beautiful, magnificent, & historic structure! So fun to be envited along watching your interesting, entertaining & educational journey! Thank you! 😊
I haven’t laughed this hard at 6:00 am in a long time well worth the watch
That was HILARIOUS ..I was telling fall in water lol .... Definitely natural weed killer with the 1 gallon vinegar / dish soap / cup of salt ... etc ...
If the vinegar and water combination doesn’t show any results, then we might add a little salt. We want to be very careful to not accidentally etch the stone with a low ph. Dish soup seems like a nice addition as well! Thank you 😄
Thank you for your service Ian!!
Cobbles look fantastic…so does the walls with the ivy removed…but hard work
God bless all who serve! No greater love than one who lays down his life for a friend. ❤🇺🇸
Salt can also help with preventing the weeds to grow back between the cobblestones
May you always work together so joyfully. Bless you. Be careful being on a ladder and the long reaches. I shudder when I think back on the risks I took in painting high ceilings and didn't want to move the ladder for the last little bit. Better to be safe. An old grandmother from Alabama. 🥰
Clean the courtyard side of the building above the cobble stone courtyard. It WI really brighten it up.
You both are so cute and smart. I love watching your progress .
Thank you for your service, Ian
Thank you for your service to the U.S
Woo-boy, that moat-ivy mission was hard work!
I appreciate your editing style Ian. Especially enjoyed the part where you were being pulled on the boat hiding your drone control. Love the music choice too, very cool.
Thank you for serving!! I’m glad to see that ivy gone. It can be so destructive to mortar.
Y’all are delightful and thank you for Recognition of war🇺🇸 veterans. Wishing you the best with your winter renovations, safety first.
Aww your cat and dog must be living their Best lives in this wonderland. Such a helpful kitty 🐈
Charming video! The recipe I've heard for weeds is 30% vinegar solution (straight) with a couple of tablespoons of salt and dawn dish detergent.
Y'all are so stinking cute. I'm loving your videos!!! Sending love all the way from Texas.
I saw your channel a few days ago. And now i have been binge watching. What a cool place. Really enjoy watching you two. Nice job also, yall are hard working and great to watch. Full of personality. Stay at it you two. you have a great thing going there together. Also very cool, i am a big History nut. Hugs! Love the pets.
C'est beaucoup de travail mais à chaque fois le résultat est incroyable. Merci pour cette nouvelle vidéo.
Merci pour vos encouragements! 🥰
You need a fire torch like Stephanie's gardeners from Chateau Diaries to burn the weeds off the moat walls.
You should use straight white vinegar too kill the weeds and they won't come back. Use the straight white vinegar on the vine also.
