    This is the first cascading bouquet tutorial I've seen that isnt just sitting roses on top of long greenery and orchids. I appreciate it

    I used this tutorial to make my first cascading arrangement, and while it was not the best, it was still gorgeous and made the bride, mother of the groom and the groom all tear up with happiness. I highly recommend it as a guide for beginners and a good review for flower arrangers who are a little out of practice! Thank you!

    Beautiful!!!! 😊 Inserting cala stems can be pain.....but instead of wiring and taping (which can interfere with water absorption to the stem) I usually take a ink pen and start to make a whole in the oasis foam....Then the stem slides right in. Fellow floral designer here. I love watching these videos. Even though I've been designing for 35+ years...(family owned business) I always pick up tricks and tips from fellow designers. Sometimes I'm like "well damn!!!! Why haven't I though of that!!!!!" Lol 💐Keep on designing!💐

    Do you think it would work to do this bouquet with silk flowers instead? I realize it won't be quite as amazing, but I would want to do it plenty before hand, and to be able to keep my bouquet.

    It's very pretty, but I don't understand how it's ok to insert flower heads with wire - they have no stems to take up moisture from the oasis, do won't they die too soon?

    You dip the bouquet holder in warm water? I’ve always been told to use cool water. Can you please explain why. Thank you.

    • @gaysrule32
      @gaysrule32 4 года назад

      Holly Allen warm water absorbs better than cold. Cold constricts the vessels in the stems and thus no absorption, while warm water loosens or expands the vessels for more flowing absorption of water.

    Great instructional video but I have to disagree with one point...baby's breath and richness do not belong in the same sentence. It was looking like a high-end bouquet until the baby's breath was added. That threw it back to the 80s and ruined the finished product, imo. But wonderful step-by-step instructions!

    • @jewelridonovan6017
      @jewelridonovan6017 8 лет назад +9

      I think it looks great with the baby's breath. Either way, it's stunning.

    • @Smallcorgi
      @Smallcorgi 8 лет назад +6

      Baby's breath is back 'in' lately. It's a very 80's flower but it's becoming very popular again.

    • @stacyparker4559
      @stacyparker4559 8 лет назад +1

      +Victoria Fullerton it has been back in style for several years but not in this way. You won't see something like this in a high end wedding magazine. Baby's breath en masse (e.g. a large "ball" of nothing but babies breath or a wreath of nothing but baby's breath) is the modern way to use gypsophila. Not in the 80s style of using it as a filler like in this bouquet.
      Technically, it's the bride's wedding and if this is what she wants, that's fine but no bride asking for "richness" from a high-end floral designer will have baby's breath anywhere near their flowers.
      And that was my only point. Everyone has a different idea of what "richness" is but as a florist, I can tell you that it's generally agreed in the world of high end wedding design that this flower is not something we use for high dollar clients.

    • @Smallcorgi
      @Smallcorgi 8 лет назад +1

      i didnt say anything about richness. i was merely commenting on the fact that you said it was '80's' looking. i've been seeing it in A LOT of modern bouquets and weddings.
      i didn't say anything about richness at all lmao

    • @stacyparker4559
      @stacyparker4559 8 лет назад +2

      +Victoria Fullerton my entire original comment was about the person posting the video saying this particular flower "added richness." Obviously you didn't see that connection or maybe you didn't watch the video. So let me respond to you directly… You (or anyone else) can like baby's breath. Many florists can use it, either at the request of a bride or because they themselves feel it is a "rich" flower. However, most high end florists do not.
      And just to make sure we are clear, I'm not saying that you specifically think it's a rich flower. I comprehend that you are commenting on the fact that you have seen this flower used a lot lately. My original comment was about something the lady in the video said and you took it somewhere else. Which is fine but just to be clear, my two points are: a) it is not a well-accepted belief that baby's breath is a rich flower and b) just because some florists are using it again, doesn't mean it is or should be "back in style."
