    Having been to several Who concerts, I remember that Pete's guitar always cut through the mix. The sound of this video doesn't do it justice. Sorry, but I can barely hear his guitar which is buried under the bass, vocals and drums.

    The Who found new life when they hired Simon Phillips then even more life when they added Zac Starkey (a reincarnation of Keith Moon).

    Kenny was awesome. Big shoes to fill. Quite a fan of It's Hard. Some great stuff on it.

    This gig was bootlegged on a 2CD set in early 2014. It's fantastic stereo soundboard. From Wolfgang's vault. Much better concert than the next night. This rocks !

    If you want good sound quality then anything off the Dec 17th show should do it....it was done on a live TV feed simulcast onto 2 local Toronto stations that night as well.

    Another subtle difference is the different wrist bands Pete wore. Musically, the 17th show sounds better. Possibly some studio overdubs involved. From what I've seen of the second night, it seems to be the better of the two. Both are great though!

    pete has a point about the mix. i was at both toronto shows. the live sound on the 16th was incredible, huge guitar volume, but the 17th has the perfection of the who as a complete band

    This is awesome!! Curious where this video is from! I used to have a VHS Fox video put out of an '82 concert that was from Toronto! Also, I remember recording a live FM simulcast of that show (on cassette) which I understood was also broadcast live on cable! Is this what was broadcast on cable?

      Todd Grunwald Hey there! This was the video that was supposed to be "Who Rocks America" which was recorded in 1982 on December 16th and 17th 1982, The Who's supposedly last shows ever. This concert was recorded December 16th and never released. I have the same VHS which was broadcast on HBO December 17th. You can find both shows on RUclips, but its hard to tell them apart because they are wearing the same clothes, but Petes playing is different on songs especially on "Naked Eye" & "Sister Disco" Thanks for the comment and inquiry. BTW...If you search the internet you can find a copy of this showl

      Dwight Whikehart I remeber the laserdisc. My Dad was a huge who fan, and bought the disc to share with my brother and I...that's when I really fell in love with John's bass playing, seeing him play live :)
      RIP John Entwistle

      +Dwight Whikehart This video is not The Who "Rocks America" Its the day before that show December 16th 1982. There are many differences on this night. Same clothes, but Pete's wearing a different wristband. Songs are played different and Roger doesn't get his microphone tangled up on 5:15 like he did the day after. watch both shows they are both on you tube.

    This appears to be better quality than the bootleg DVD that circulated about 10 years ago. I prefer this show over the following nights broadcast

      Funny I always try to ignore the guitar/vocals on Eminence Front but then half the song is CUT OFF anyways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I remember this Stephen, Yes....I was there on the left side and that is where the picture I took came from. You have that now. Treasure it as it is a really great picture, back in the day you could take pictures at these concerts and it was ok. But today...no so. I saw them 4 time in all. Only once at the Gardens

    Just 4 years earlier the Who had long hair and looked like hard rock stars from the 70s. Here they all have short hair and look like punk rockers or new wave artists.

    So they wore the same exact clothes both nights?

    • @jerryks67
      @jerryks67  9 лет назад +2

      C Pele They did, because they were going to use both nights for "The Who Rocks America" video released on VHS. They only used December 17th because Pete was dissappointed with the mix on the 16th. If you watch both shows you can see the differences in Pete's playing and Rogers stage performance.

    • @DirtyCityMick
      @DirtyCityMick 9 лет назад

      You are correct Lexi. I have the original video as a DVD. this is not even the audio track as far as I'm concerned. the actual audio track is surprisingly good quality especially for 1982.

    • @lexisl3231
      @lexisl3231 9 лет назад

      There's another video (for Eminence Front) and the sound quality is highly improved. I think they switched the PA to go straight into the camera feed. But these have to be the clearest 1982 recordings around. Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks recordings are really faded and pixelated.
