I actually love the tiny bubbles which are left in the resin even after the degassing process, they actually help sell the idea that this is water, rather than a perfectly still and smooth chunk of resin.
i thought the same. in fact it would be cool to introduce bubbles, for example as a column above the diver's head. ( sort of like trapped-bubble glass ) ??
@CaseStone-520 Kinda depends on who you're talking to! It wasn't for me, but being that he doesn't usually do that, I'm sure it scared some people. I even had to go back to see the small warning ⚠️!
I like how you went "Old-School" and scratch built the diver, instead of 3D Printing it. As a sidebar, about the only diver kits I know of are the Heller Frogmen kit, and the frogmen that come with the Monogram UDT Boat - both are in 1/35th scale. Thanks for sharing your skills and imagination, Boylei! 186th Like.
I doubt you'll ever see this, but thank you for always making comfort content (at least in my eyes). I've been watching you since early 2022, and it's been so exciting watching your skills improve, and just seeing the evolution of everything. I can always rely on your art to make me feel better :)
@iain.sm.c Yup! For normal air tanks usually they just put regular "air" with a scuba compressor. For more specialized mixes like nitrox they can change the proportion of oxygen/nitrogen (e.g. 32% O2 68% N) or even put some other gases like helium instead of nitrogen
Even though you used acrylic paints on the foam, it was a very good thing to put that ModgePodge on there as a base. That foam will have various gasses in it. So when the resin is added, those gasses would have likely caused a lot of bubbles. Awesome diorama!
A nice simple craft, very well done! This gave me ideas for making resin pours for various book nooks, and I'd love to see some more "book nook" friendly projects of yours. Maybe Wild Imaginary West related or just something unique altogether. You've given me a lot more confidence in working with resin, so I'll definitely be trying my own very soon I think!
This made me think of an idea for a similar diorama build. A diver exploring a wreck, shining a light into a hole in the side, lighting up a giant eye from some creature.
In fact (if I remember correctly) at least some diving suits are made from textile with foam-like structure, so foam have a little more common with diving :D
That turned out fantastic! I don't suggest conquering a fear of water with cave diving, though. Caves are terrifying and dangerous places even without water.
1:23 Don't feel bad about it, complacency can be one of the most dangerous things when dealing with any kind of dangerous items. This is a pretty common thing in the firearm community, sometimes someone will spend years around firearms, have an FFL, an SOT, and then forget one or more of the four rules of firearm safety (Treat all weapons as though they are loaded and ready to fire, do not point a weapon at anything you are not willing to destroy, be mindful of your target and what is behind it, and keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire). Just because you've spent years around something dangerous doesn't mean you don't have to exercise basic safety around it. I personally appreciate the repetition of your advice.
Why do you fear deep water? *Loads his Encarta CD into his head* spinspinspinspin Ahhhhh...Maybe because "Many tropical fish have a valid fear of deep water - there all kids of "scary-fangy" things that would eat them all up" Awesome build as always! xoxo
Sense you've done a couple of Gundam dioramas, I was wondering if you could try something similar and do a diorama with some of the Flame Toys Transformers model kits. They don't transform, but they have insane articulation, and I would love to something like that. Thanks!
I know it has a “right side up” but one thing cave divers always say is that it’s impossible to know what side is “up”, so this diorama would work both ways. Cave diving is seriously my biggest fear and there’s no way I’ll ever do it, but water still fascinates me
I love your videos but I'd love to see more of your weird wild west builds and I'm really looking forward to seeing you combine them all with a train lay out and bring it all to life
The tanks are actually not oxygen! They're regular air. Unless you're going very deep then it's a higher concentration of oxygen but it's still not 100% oxygen.
True, but that's just an aesthetic. It's clear down there. Dead still and clear.
I appreciate the warning for the jump scare
Wuss
@@docholliday4546, takes one to know one. 🤪
I feel like this is one of your simpler creations this year yet I'd argue it's one of your best. Its atmosphere alone really captures the mood.
one of your best.......... i'd agree. the rocks and the diver ALL seem to float free - because: no frame
The jump scare was hilarious
Huh there is no jump scare
@CaseStone-520 Kinda depends on who you're talking to! It wasn't for me, but being that he doesn't usually do that, I'm sure it scared some people. I even had to go back to see the small warning ⚠️!
This would make an incredible bookend! especially if the other side had something similar but with a monster

I can't believe the ratio between views & Likes!!! How can you watch a Bolie video yet not hit the 👍???
Standing it on end totally sells the depth look. Awesome build as usual.

boylei vids always make me smile. this is good. . . . . . . . . .
Easy mistake to make, but we actually usually dive with "air" tanks (21% oxygen). A pure oxygen tank would be deadly at depth. Great work!
That's really interesting. Is the other 79% nitrogen?

Awesome diorama!
So love it, great idea sticking to no lights!!
Gorgeous! Leaving out the light was definitely the right call.
Amazing work as always. Those final shots are so satisfying to me, and all I did was watch you make it. I can't even imagine how they make YOU feel.
Damn, Boylei. The eerie atmosphere and lighting in this is spectacular. I'm obsessed with that diver.

I second this, little LED work to make the flashlight, an eye cabochan..... that'll be really cool liking
In fact (if I remember correctly) at least some diving suits are made from textile with foam-like structure, so foam have a little more common with diving :D
Indeed. It's foamed neoprene.
This is actually a MASTERPIECE !
i've said that soooo many times before. . . . . . . . but, as ever - this one is a cut above...........
Felt like classic Boylei! Loved it ~
Excellent video. My kiddo was wondering why there wasn't a monster? In his words "He always adds a monster!”
maybe it's hiding. you have to look VERY carefully. bit like the kid in the stripey jersey !! ??
How to make anything, especially diving, even scarier? Make it CAVE diving! Caves are so scary to me.
Yeah, caves can get pretty spoopy, especially the ones under water
That turned out fantastic!
I don't suggest conquering a fear of water with cave diving, though. Caves are terrifying and dangerous places even without water.
Boylei video, Lets GOOOO!
My two sons (15&13) can't wait for Subnautica 2. They've played Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero to death.
4:18 quote of the day
no kidding
If you have silicone molds, you can pour your extra resin into them to create rocks
Wow! That looks amazing!!
I really like the paint job on the rocks, simple but realistic
Ohhh nice….and creepy. That lighting effect in the glamour shots was awesome
So fun when you make stuff into the not intended stuff.
Great work and always a welcome distraction on a Sunday.
Dang man, this is one of your best yet!
9:20 Dunno how to explain it, but I see faces in that shot on the rocks.
OOOOOoooo yeah. that's a classic. it's kinda like a 3d picture with no frame ?? Nice one. real nice
Your work is very inspiring. Makes me want to learn more.
You know it's gonna be a good day when boylei posts
This is one of my favourite dioramas you’ve done… awesome stuff!
sometimes less is more, and this is a brilliant example of that, good work, boylei 😄
This was a good one! The diver came out pretty great!
Was about to sleepy the other night and thought of a XXL Beaver hauling a whole tree to put on a damn for his little beaver friends in the west! 🙏🏽

The vibe on this live is AMAZING. Your videos make my Sunday. I felt lost while you were on vacation.
Superb. Like the lighting of it and no giant crustacean monsters coming after him. 👍
Way to lean into your fears, man! Respect 🫡
Looks very peaceful! Lovely.
Man you come up with some great idea's!
Kudos and a tipping of my hat to you for your soldier to scuba diver conversion! very well done!!
It would be cool to replicate the Mandalorian scene when Bo Katan rescues him from the deep and the Mythosaur is lurking nearby.
Why do you fear deep water? *Loads his Encarta CD into his head* spinspinspinspin Ahhhhh...Maybe because "Many tropical fish have a valid fear of deep water - there all kids of "scary-fangy" things that would eat them all up" Awesome build as always! xoxo
Thank you for your creativity and awesomeness!
Crazy kitbashing work boylei, as always
Beautiful!
Super eerie and cool. I also have a fear or deep water. One of my biggest fears is bodies of water underground like in caves and such. Wonderful work.
Love these vignette builds
I'm glad you've not given up on resin.
This was a great one.
You should definitely make this a series, like the mineshaft videos!
"modern and not as modern.." just made me laugh for some reason.
7:27; don't tell me what I don't want to drink Boylei!!
thats so beautifull, afew bioluminescence jellyfish and its done!
Great job especially the figure 👍
Really like this build. I have the same fear, so playing survival games that have water base parts freaks me out 😂
Awesome video and even more awesome diorama! Your videos are just the highlight of my week whenever they come out
Sense you've done a couple of Gundam dioramas, I was wondering if you could try something similar and do a diorama with some of the Flame Toys Transformers model kits. They don't transform, but they have insane articulation, and I would love to something like that. Thanks!

more than two ways up ?? surely ? ;-)
Awesome new video!
Awesome build 🔥🔥🔥
Looks wicked cool
I love Subnautica game, can't wait for the 2nd one, amazing build looks awesome.
welcome back hope you had a nice break. Really cool project 😁
Amazing work as always
Very Good idea for the rocks.
I love this and I really love your animal horror wild west
I LOVE BOYLEI!!!
This is really good, i dig it
No, thank you. Great display but I will keep my fear, thank you very much
Love that. 😮
I love your videos but I'd love to see more of your weird wild west builds and I'm really looking forward to seeing you combine them all with a train lay out and bring it all to life
Great video, as always
So beautiful
I'm not sure I'd class myself as a 'deep-sea diver' if I had a fear of deep water 🤣
I really love this one
Uhhhh...verry nice! If you want to do it egain, maybe add a deep sea monster to it and some led´s to eluminate the monsters eyes *.*
Amazing!
uh...
i think you forgot to add the sea monster stalking him
Maybe Warhammer diorama?
The tanks are actually not oxygen! They're regular air. Unless you're going very deep then it's a higher concentration of oxygen but it's still not 100% oxygen.
Love this idea
What does Boylei do with all his incredible dioramas?
G'day to you again, as usual brilliant! Armadale West Australia.
Great video, no scary sea monster?
A bit niche but could you make a diorama with the White Glint model kit (it's a mech from armored core 4).
Would you make a tutorial on how you wire the lights and stuff and what you use?
Your ideas are always so creative and interesting. Thank you for your hard work!🔻👽👆
nice!
Nice
Why did you stick a rod up the divers but?
Imaginary wild west?
