can you make something like this for someone that has been abused by a narcissist, i know it's not an officeal term but the closes i have see is "Narcissistic abuse syndrome" (because it's not in the DSM-5 there is not a lot on this and it seems to be very common in today's times ....that's kinda how i found your channel ) I'm a Aircraft engineer but mechanic by heart and someone i am getting close with is a beautiful person and i want to know what are some possible landmines or triggers. I feel that knowledge is over half the battle in any situation, but there seems to be hard to find anything set about this and i can see why ....a lot of it is situational ....and i run countless scenarios in my head and organize them by probability according to personality and yes i have been proven wrong, i make mistakes, but when i do make them i obsess about learning where i went wrong and how never to make the same mistake ever again ..... i hold myself to an unhuman standard, but people are a can of worms its a never ending rabbit hole that grows every month ......but this one hits closer to home. this is now something im digging for, because i care for this person... thanks to this video i have an idea of how to maybe make them feel more at ease.....i hope .... i'll cross that ditch when i get there ....just hope there is a bridge instead...even if it's full of holes.

As another person who suffers from anxiety.... just having someone text me something random to distract me or having someone just sit with me and just be there... not even really to talk.... especially if I cant talk or just don't wanna talk about it.... that helps a lot.

    • @sarcasm8007

I know it depends on the person, some people it makes them anxious to have no one talk but for me sometimes just knowing someone is there to comfort you quietly even when no words are exchanged it really does comfort you because it's just... I disagree with most of these and I'd like to give my opinion on each, as I do suffer with anxiety
You have my attention (or) I am listening
this one can be super helpful however If you say this please watch your tone, because if it's a muttered "yeah, im listening" It can lead them to believe you
are being burdened by them, and that Is the last thing we want
I'd replace this with "I'm here to listen" or "If you want you can tell me about it"
What can I do to help you?
this one leads me to feel like a burden, even if it's "is there anything I can do to help you?" or "any way I can help?"
honestly I'd just scrap this one, I in no way want to inconvenience anyone when I'm spiraling.
Hey let's go for a walk. We can talk about it, or we can just get some fresh air
The last thing I want to do right now is go outside, I'm dealing with my mind, I'm scared, I'm paranoid. I've been here with this one and
It literally just led me to just being afraid for my life for like a solid hour.
I'd replace this with "wanna play some (insert game they like here) ?"

Is it okay if I give you a hug?
This one I love, this one makes me very happy, however doesn't really work over the internet or in a quarantine
I'm here for you, no matter what is happening
no complaints here, it feels great not to feel alone
Would advice be helpful or should I just listen?
Watch your tone with this one. this can come off sarcastic really quick. any hint of frustration and I'll feel like the worlds biggest Jerk
I might replace that one with "would you like some advice? If not I can continue to listen"
I don't know what to say, but I'm here for you
A very sweet yet hollow feeling It's rather bittersweet but that one is just me.

I tried the "what do you want to do?" or something similar one time and it didn't help--I found that decision making when she's already stressed isn't really effective.
But yeah, these all seem like things you need to make sure you genuinely mean or else it'll just come off as rude. I'll take note of that going forward.

@@taytaythehufflepuff8532 if they want any advice to help the panic, some other tricks I've learned over the years.
      ask them to
      1. breathe in 4 seconds, hold 7 seconds, breathe out for 8 seconds. repeat 3 - 5 times.
      2. name 5 things you can see, 3 things you can hear, 4 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste.
      3. sipping slowly on some nice cold water helps me often. (Doing this as I'm typing because I'm having a bad anxiety day)
      4. try talking to friends about anything, doesn't matter what the subject is. just go on a little conversational journey. it can be about what they are panicked over, or it can be about the newest thing the're into..
hope some of these can help :D, Anxiety is a tricky thing, and people seem to want people to just "get over it" but that's not how it works.

It’s manufactured and it needs to stop! Social media algorithms and media push anxiety inducing stories and click bait. Plays on our deepest fears. Covid woke me up to this reality. Viruses have always killed old and unhealthy people, new viruses do it more effectively. A new virus makes its way into a nursing home and you will see massive carnage suddenly. This is nothing new or sensational until the media makes it so. Same with “climate crisis” the earth climate changes, always has, it’s not necessarily an existential threat. If it wasn’t for the media, none of us would’ve cared about Covid, and we wouldn’t even think the climate was an issue either it’s all manufactured.

Mainly because some of these things I said make it seem like we have a problem, and it’s easy to fix. But, we just can’t. • @riverly7275
      @riverly7275 2 года назад

@@spooky1487 Don’t ask questions about it, thinking about what your dealing with can, most times, make the problem worse. Also, people don’t experience it all the time. One moment the day is going great, and the next, you feel like you’re dying. And, most times the person doesn’t even know what’s going on themselves. Maybe try asking if they need anything, or silly random questions, while in the panic. Try giving them some water. But, only do this towards the end of it, or when it is just beginning. Just, don’t leave them alone, don’t try to reassure them that everything is alright, and just be there to comfort them when it’s happening. But, DO NOT ask ANY questions about it. Answering these questions makes the person feel stupid or like they’re faking the whole thing. I hope this helps any.

Both my bf and I struggle with anxiety, so we have some of these in our arsenal already. It’s nice to see these phrases shared more, because it’s really important for somebody with anxiety to feel heard, valid, and in control.

I needed this! I have several friends with anxiety and I have always been unsure what to say to them when they deal with an attack.

Do you see people with anxiety? Slap them hard. They will ask why you do that instead of what if 🤣

I also suffered from anxiety for almost 2 years and had no one to talk about it because I was afraid of everyone, and no one was close to me(that's what I thought). Now I am great and in the journey of making myself happy even in alone times and I don't want to see someone suffer like I did with anxiety. Thanks Psych2Go!

This made me feel understood so well, the examples you gave of touching made my anxiety go up but then explaining how someone can help resolve this calmed me back down. I got into an fight with my girlfriend, because I was having an anxiety attack and she didn’t know, and she tried to grab me and tried pulling me towards her and immediately jerked away.. she got upset I pulled away from her, but I was freaking tf out and that triggered me. I’m definitely sending her this video.

Consent about touching is definitely important. Some days I really want to hug. other days my chronic physical pain is so great even clothes on my skin hurts. This is great information thank you.
