The studio version, with its electronic beats and loops, is such a thing of spartan beauty, which perfectly matched the solemn darkness of the lyrics. This generic "rock" arrangement just has no nuance or subtlety at all. It's a bit too feel-good for such a dark song.

I love Clapton too. When he's having a good "guitar day" I struggle to think of anything that sound as good. At least to me. Sometimes mr. vamos does kinda the same for me.
